Tribes 2 is without doubt the best game money can buy on the PC. As hard as it may be to believe, the videos and screenshots didn't do justice to this game. It exceeds tribes in every aspect of control, graphics, and how teamwork is encouraged. Even the training missions are great fun. It currently is a little buggy, and has extremely high hardware requirements, but if you've got a nice comp, this is the game to show it off with. I recomend this game over any other on the market today.
This is a must have game for 2001!!!

There are some problem with this game
1.) Game sucks on voodoo cards
2.) Internet play is slow
But other than that this game is a must buy and patchs are coming out for the interenet play.
Success! Check the forums before you give up!

OK -- after checking the forums, Voodoo-based card users should find the information they need to get the game running properly. Once you do, it rocks! While I'm still unimpressed about the initial out-of-box experience, the net result is still a superb game.
Good game but many gamers can't play

I've purchased the CD, and have played and love the game.
Its fun, I'll admit it, even on a decent 56k connection. Let me qualify that, I use Earthlink for 56k dialup modem service, and in my area the actual dialup and internet connectivity are provided by UUNet, THE internet company (no I don't work for them). On my 56k connection I get descent game play.
WHY I RATED THE GAME AT 1 STAR
1) I don't like playing with my original cd's. I make a copy and store the original so its not damaged, especially when I travel with it.
There is copy protection built into the CD, and there is copy protection built into the game. The copy protection *IN* the game is a cause of MANY game play problems.
The algorithm they use checks for the cd during a game, which it will randomly check during and also at the beginning of every match, and if that check fails, it will lock the game, boot you, or crash your machine all together.
This is FACT!
And the game has had to go thru several updates in part because the check has problems with lower speed cdroms, older, and some off brand cd rom drives as well!
2) more and more frequently, people with decent stats for their system can not play the game.
I'm telling you.. I've played before and loved it.. but I haven't been able to play for nearly 6 months now. I upgraded to windows 2000, and since then I've not been able to play even on a system that EXCEEDS their recommendations.
If you have windows 98, I think you should have little problem playing the game (as long as you have met the minimum or better recommendations for machine), and as I started with Tribes2 on 98 and had very little problems. If however, you are on any other OS (Win ME, XP, 2000) you may not be able to play or may have to resort to odd work arounds to play or play in a diminished Software Video mode rather than Hardware Supported 3d / Open GL Video mode.
So in ernest, if you've played Tribes, Tribes 2 is just as fun if not more so, and has the same look & feel with better graphics, and for that the game rates 4 stars....
but because of my experience, and the literal HUNDREDS of other gamers that have had nothing but trouble trying to get the game to even RUN ... I have to rank this at ONE star.
Close but no cigar

Tribes 2 is a good, immersive and solid game with a steep learning curve. Those looking for a First person shooter will be somewhat disappointed. Yes, it is amazing to be able to wander around huge expanses of land and frag people, but the difficulty in controlling your man as well as the ... weapon selection will turn off fans of QIII and Unreal Tournament (the latter being, by the by, the best EVER in my opinion). Also, the first person mode stinks; I realize Tribes 2 was designed as an online game first, but so was UT and that 1st person mode is great.

I found that this game was inceredible and I was really amazed with how the forums worked and it is so simple to have a clan online with your friends just put them on your buddy list and send them an invitation. Then you and your friends can play on line as a team in the same clan chalenging all sorts of people. Then there is a player and clan search that make finding people really easy. It is also intresting how as you play everyone develops a better role and wether your are serious or not it is a great game. One of my favorite aspects of the game was that you are able to drive vehicles and they drive better than in some racing games my personla favorite is the Shirke scout flyer.
This is player Devil Bunny (efb) from the Evil fluffy Bunny Flock hope to see you online:as you can see i am not a seirous player

Tribes 2 is a game that can be very addicting and fun, if youget over the massive learning curve, for multiplayer. I love in thisgame ... The downside of this game is that it does not surpass it's predecessor. Tribes 2 doen't even live up to it's hype. There really is no major improvement between tribes 1 and 2. And lastly make sure that you have a powerful computer to run this game. I say minimum requirements in my opinion are 800 mhz and any geforce 2 chip.

I am very impressed. I got hooked on the first Tribes late in it's life (3 months before 2) and I am loving every minute. All the problems I see on all of the message boards just boggle the mind. I see none of it. I did get the acclaimed UE error, but guess what...I bought a decent video card (Voodoo 5 5500 AGP) and it all went away. Full detail and I still pull 20-50 fps. Truely a great game and only getting better. I have an Athlon 750, 512MB RAM, Voodoo 5 64MB AGP, 8gig HD. Beautiful.
