I own this game and it is great. I have a 850 MHz Amd athon PIII, 128 Meg Ram, TNT2 video card, and 30 giges. I get 75 Fps with settings on medium and 40 fps on full. I is great. The graphic are stupendous.
Adds only a little to the tried and true multiplayer genre

I tried this game at a friend's house, expecting something along the lines of Half Life, or even Unreal Tournament, but I was disappointed. First of all, I'm a huge Counter-Strike fan, so I am used to slick looking weapons models. Certainly don't expect any sweet looking weapons in Tribes 2. It looks like the programmers spent all of one day designing all of the weapons. They are boring, rectangular, and plain, and look nothing like the deadly changuns, grenade launchers, and anti-aircraft guns they're supposed to be. On the plus side, there are a good dozen or so weapons, so at least you have variety.
Tribes 2 is different from other multiplayer games in a few subtle ways. First and foremost, the game introduces vehicles that let you fly around or drive around and wreak havoc. That is, if you can get into them (more on that later). There is a 3 man bomber that lets 2 of your teammates team up with you. Each has a different task--one drives, the other bombs, and another works the rear turret gun. Very cool. There is also a battle tank and a solo fighter, and these are very formidable in appearance; the designers seemed to have spent a lot more time on the vehicles (and player models) than the weapons models.
Another cool feature of the game is the ability to outfit yourself as a number of different soldiers. Say you want to defend with heavy weapons, or assault with heavy weapons. You step into a weapons assembler (or whatever it's called) and you're suddenly laden with armor, ammo, and heavy munitions. You move slower, but you pack a lot of firepower. I find it's better to be quick, since you're an easy target for the faster guys when you've got all the weapons.
The other cool thing about this game is its unique mission styles. There are the standard games--deathmatch (which isn't too fun in this game, hence the lack of servers running it), capture the flag, and capture and hold, which is much like UT's Domination game. Up to 64 players can join a game, which you'd think would be crazy. It's not though, since the maps are so big and the bases so far apart, you actually find yourself killing less people than in a UT or HL game.
On top of the great lack of action you sometimes find in the large games (which take forever to load first of all, since the maps are so big), the rocket pack you're given is very difficult to control. I think it's ridiculous that you have to become frustrated with a game's controls, but that's what happened to me. People with slower computers or those without at least a GeForce 2 will lag seriously, so multiplayer games will also be frustrating.
In short, Tribes 2 offers a few nice touches to the multiplayer genre, such as vehicles, enhanced teamplay, and larger maps, but falls short in many other categories. I quickly grew bored with the game's lack of intensity.....

This is one of the best games i have ever played, but its not for everyone, you do need a really good system for the full gaming experience but even if you dont the game is still really fun.
A great game, no matter what other people say

This game is one of the best PC games i have ever played. Since many people complain about the game running poorly on older systems, you may be hesitant to buy it. Don't listen to them. I have a P3 500 with 256 MB of RAM and a Voodoo 3 3000, and the game runs great. The new patches have definitly improved performance on older systems like mine. And yes, most of my graphics settings are medium/high, so i'm not trying to trick you by saying the game runs great on low settings. Many people have complained that the game is full of bugs, but I've encountered hardly any bugs at all.You just need to let the sierra updater run by itself to install patches, and the game will run fine. P.S., the siege missions are by far the coolest.

I'm sure you've seen countless people complain about the game wanting too much out of their systems, but is that really the developer's fault? It says right smack on the box that it requires this certain amount of RAM and this certain amount of CPU speed. If your computer doesn't meet the requirements, then I'm sorry, but don't buy the game. Some of you whine too much.
This game is great. And all the flaws have been mentioned already. It has top notch gameplay, semi-great graphics, an awesome soundtrack, and the controls are pretty well programmed once you get used to it. If you don't have much patience however...I'd suggest staying away from this game.

This game is insanely fun, but is not very stable on my computer. If you have a fast internet connection and it runs well on your machine you will love it.
Too complex for the average gamer

I'm an avid FPS (first person shooter) fan, and I was very much looking forward to playing Tribes 2. I'd read many glowing reviews and heard lots of buzz about the game. Unfortunately, after three separate attempts to get through the tutorial, I was hopelessly bored with the game and annoyed with the physics engine.
Bottom line is that this is a complex game that is probably a lot of fun for people who are big into teamplay and resource management, but if you're a die-hard shooter fan like me, I think you'll find that this game's lack of polish and emphasis on complexity is not your cup of tea.

This game and the time spent trying to get it to work properly, even with the appropriate system requirements, was a nightmare. If you are thinking of buying this game, try to torture yourself in another, less costly manner. What a piece of JUNK! Oh, by the way, the technical support from SIERRA was WORSE THAN THE GAME!

Ok this is it the COOLEST GAME EVER.
I got this game a month ago (that was March 1st), and I love it.
Why did it take ms so long to write a review?? I have been playing it nonstop, ...well not quite, but practically...anyway,the only downside is you do need a really good system ( but a 300k modem is NOT necessary(I use a 56k modem and I only experience lag occasionally)) like a pentium 3 it is better if you have 4(at least a 16mb graphics card but a 32mb is sooo much better).
The pros?? Lots of game types
1. Capture and hold
2. Capture the flag
3. Rabbit
4. Deathmatch
5. Hunters
6. Team hunters
7. Bounty (I think there are others but I can't remember)
This is a online game so if you are gonna buy for the single- player mod, forget it!!
Ultimatally THIS GAME RULES!!!
So do yourself a favor **********Buy It***********
