This is a fun game if you like online play and have a sufficent system to play it on. Vehicles are great, although you have to have a good joystick to fly hele's and jets with to be affective.
EA keeps messing up the patches or I would give this game 5stars. First patch had a memory leak and the second patch introducted widespread connection troubles. Some marketing guy was pushing this product out the door before it was ready to be released. Oh well, worth the buy anyway.
Game is awesome!!!!

I won't bore you with another long-winded review of every single aspect of this game. Instead I'll just give my gut reaction to the game.
Bottom line is this is the best fps multiplayer game on the market. It has graphics better than Halflife 2 and you can play with 64 players (although finding a server with 64 people with an acceptable lag level can be a little tough). You know how in the beginning of Battlefield 1942 they had a movie showing tanks and ships and planes fighting. And you wished that the game looked that good...... well this game looks that good. The vehicle and ammunition physics are unbelievable. Everything in this game works how you would expect. Alot of time and effort was put into this game and it shows that this isn't another half-ass sequal.
Alot of people are crying that the game won't run on their computer. That's what the DEMO is for people. You need to try it out and see if it works on your computer. I have a Dell XPS Generation 3, with 3.4 Ghz pentium, 1GB Ram and a Geforce 6800 256 MB graphics card and the game still ran choppy until I upgraded to 2 GB of ram. Now the game runs absolutely perfect at 1600x1200 resolution.
So in short buy that new computer you know you deserve (with 2 GB of Ram of course) and kiss your family goodbye for a couple of weeks and prepare to play the most real-deal battle simulation ever made for your PC.
Great game but STEEP system requirements

After two weeks of playing this game, I find it to be my favorite multi-player game. It closely resembles Far Cry but has better multi-player support. I also think BF2 is another generation better than MOHAA. The first thing most people want to do is crank up the graphics to see how "pretty" the game can be. What I discovered is what a resource MONSTER this game is. I have a pretty fast system, 3.2GHZ, 1000 FSB, 1GB, RAID drives, XP SP2, and a GF6800 Ultra. When I tried to crank the game up to 1600 x 1200 60HZ and all settings to high, I hit a brick wall. The graphics were choppy, erratic, and the sound stumbled too. What I discovered is that if I turned down the lighting and texture settings to medium, and leave the other settings (1600 x 1200 60HZ and all settings to high) the game would run fine and my machine could keep up. I've heard that the game runs better with 2GB of memory but, I'm not shelling out another couple hundred for matching memory sticks....WOW, this game is hungry. As for gameplay, I love it. After getting over the graphics issues, I really have enjoyed the game. The multiplayer side of the game is the best I've seen so far. So, if you have a FAST system and like games like Far Cry and MOHAA, you'll love this game.
Depsite its bugs -- an awesome game

It's a well-known fact that EA did not do enough testing before releasing this game, because of the insane amount of bugs, glitches, and overall frustrating performance of the online experience. That is why they released two patches, and a third was supposed to come out at the end of August but no one has seen that yet.
Nonetheless, if you can get past those frustrations it is well worth it. I spent countless hours waiting for long load times, verifying times, server glitches, bugged squads, etc, but I keep coming back because it's THAT good. I do not suggest this game without the patches, and I do not suggest this game if you're using wireless (at least I had tons of connection problems due to the wireless connection dropping in mid-game).
If you're using wireless, and have problems, run the cable from the router directly to the computer (even if it's the difference from upstairs and downstairs -- like my situation -- it will be worth it).
I could go on and on about the bugs I've encountered but it really sums up that the game is so worth it the bugs aren't that impossible to side-step or overlook.
I can't wait for the Expansion pack.. (and that third patch.)

This game is gold, however there are several pitfalls to explain first about it. The system requirements to run it are astronomical, consider upgrading your computer if you want this game on any setting higher than *low*.
Another important thing to address early is that the battlefield series has yet to add a real single player experience to their games, this one as well. The single player game is the small version(16 players) of all the online maps, and all the player slots are filled with bots, allowing you to play on either side of the two opposing forces in the map. The bots are sufficient though, they will make use off all vehicles in the map, call down artillery strikes and generally put up a good fight.
The game's focus is undeniable though. It's meant for multiplayer, either LAN with friends, or most frequently over the provided server list which has the little *GameSpy* logo in the corner. The server list's slow and often buggy interface is definitely a big let down, however recent patches have addressed some issues here, hopefully they can patch this problem into oblivion.
I mentioned Multiplayer didn't I? Well it is the core of the game once you've survived the online interface. The games online are varied and offer far larger maps with much different layouts than the singleplayer16 player maps. The online maps size can increase up to 64 people, with maps spanning 6 times larger than their constricted 16 player ones. Another bonus to playing online is the *ranked server* status which allows your stats from each fight to be saved and then viewed publicly. Eventually doing well will allow new weapons to be unlocked for use as a reward.
Playing the game is a simple matter of loading, picking a kit and then picking a point to spawn at. Each kit is based on a specific style of play, Assault is given an assault rifle(ranging from the M16 to the AK depending on which side you are a part of) and smoke grenades, giving them an edge in confusing battles to pull out or distract, Medics maintain the team's health and mend badly wounded allies, Engineers maintain vehicles, place Anti-tank mines and carry a shotgun for devastating close combat actions. Each of the 8 kits has an unlock which acts as a rock, paper, scissors to further change how a kit can be successfully used. There are 3 sides fighting to win, the U.S. Marine Corps, the People's Liberation Army(the Chinese) and the Middle East Coalition. Each side plays differently with different weapons at their disposal.
The game play in the game is the same regardless of offline or online, however the maps being played do change the game vastly. Some maps focus heavily on vehicle dominance, street fighting, fast reactions and sometimes siege actions. The depth and the sheer scale of the battles in this game can be amazing. This game is a must have for any person that values a good first person shooter.

I highly recommend this game. First person shooter, great graphics, team-based but you could go solo if you want. What can I say but try it out...

This game is alot of fun. Single player is o.k., but online is where it's at. To be able to play online, track your stats, gain rank, unlock different weapons, and do it all for FREE is awesome. The graphics are top notch, and the sound is tremendous. For me this game is very stable. It has never crashed, and it rarely locks up.
In my opinion, if you have a computer that meets the specifications stated on the packaging, this game is a MUST HAVE.

This game kicks...butt! The weapons are extremely realistic. The graphics are something else. They are welldone and high quality but saying that it means you have to have a good graphics card and lots of ram. But thats not all. This is ment to be an online game. Yes you can play it offline and yes it is fun but it can get boring, oh so boring. the A.I. is somewhat dumb and slow at the easy level and at the hard level all they do is get head shots. That is why you should have at least have a DSL line playing with real people is so much better. I hardly get the chance but i have played online and it was good. Also the load time is much to long with out the right hardware. Also without the newest drivers of a video card the graphics are pink. Overall there arnt many bugs or glitchs that i could see unless you have only minimum system requirements which if you do it is really jumpy and slow. Overall it is a 3 1/2 out of 5 offline but when you play online it feels like god and is really fun and makes you say w00t. Yes w00t.
Great Gameplay, Great Team Game!!

This game has it all. Variety of types of soldiers you can play (Assault, Sniper, Support, Medic, Anti Tank, Special Ops, Engineer) and it has the added benefit of teamwork to help each other out on the battlefield.
More than likely, about 99.5% of your time will be spent in multi-player mode, playing online with tens of thousands of other players (hundreds of thousands?) working together to try and defeat the other side.
This game has Tanks, Armored Personnel Carriers, Jets, Helicopters, or you can be infantry ground-pounding your way to victory!
I love this game and play it avidly. The team aspect of it is something I enjoy and the fact that we are real people working together enhances the gameplay (which is stunning!).
This is a first-person shooter type game with teamwork enhancement. You can also take the roll of Commander and direct the troops on your side. You can use Unmanned Aerial Vehicles to spot incoming troops, you can spot enemy infantry and tanks for your soldiers, and you can even drop supplies on your troops to resupply them. An added Commander feature is the ability to drop artillery on enemy positions, eliminating a possible threat or as a last-ditch effort to defend a position.
This game is worth EVERY PENNY!! Hope you enjoy it!
Great game for your LAN blast-out

I just love the way this game encourages you to work together with your fellow teammates and help them win the game with you. A few minor flaws keep it from beeing perfect (e.g. it should be easier to find friends online). But on the whole, this is game is super
