PROS----When you meet that special "squad", "gameplay" just takes off from there (just remember this)...Good fast gameplay,
plenty of weapons. Each weapon comes with a special kit.
A medic is weak and has a weird version of the assault rifle, but he can revive people from the dead and hand out supplies. An
assault class has a high body armor, so on and so forth. Its strange, kinda like FPS meets MMORPG. so, Having a
medic in your squad can help out you tremendously. etc.
There are ranks in this game, better ya get, the higher you go.
If you're good enuf, at the start of a match, you can apply as
a commander. You'll be able to call artillery strikes & supply drops and whatnot (and you will be laughing wildly during all of this, because artillery strikes are VERY VERY ANNOYING to the opposing team XD )

CONS----helicopters are a little bit overpowered...i'll leave it
at that. In fact, the most appropriate way to kill one...happens
to be a... kamikaze with a jet plane of all things. Your character is a bit
of a pansy; you'll lose health when even going down
somewhat steep hills. As you've probably read, the interface
is horrible. Actually, its functional but has 2 major problems
that really suck. Incorrect ping displays AND the damn thing is painfully slow
even on high-end computers. Speaking of that-- here are the
requirements for this game...

"- Minimum Specification:
CPU: 1.7 Ghz
RAM: 512 Mb
Video Card: NVidia GeForce FX 5700, ATI Radeon 8500 or ATI Radeon 9500
with 128 Mb of RAM

- Recommended Specification:
CPU: 2.4 Ghz
RAM: 1 Gb
Video Card with at least 256 Mb of RAM"

- Video Cards
Battlefield 2 only supports the following video cards:
Radeon X700 (PCIe)
Radeon X600 (PCIe)
GeForce 6600 (PCIe)
GeForce PCX 5900 (PCIe)
GeForce 5800 Series (AGP)
ATI Radeon X800 XT Platinum Edition
ATI Radeon X800 PRO
ATI Radeon 9800 Series
ATI Radeon 9600 Series
ATI Radeon 9550 (RV350LX)
ATI Radeon 9500 / 9700 Series
ATI Radeon 8500 Series
ATI Radeon X300 Series
NVidia GeForce 6800 Ultra
NVidia GeForce 6800 GT
NVidia GeForce 6800
NVidia GeForce FX 5950 Series
NVidia GeForce FX 5900 Series
NVidia GeForce FX 5700 Series
(...)

You may want to purchase 1 GB RAM for this game, but even if you don't do that--MAKE SURE
you get a card that's listed up there (then you can play around
with the settings to get the best performance).

What can i say, its a great game.

Any Sp3cIaL comm3nts?----yea, even with 64 players online,
almost no one really chats (excluding the command menu)....
which i think is funny in a weird non-funny kinda way.

Hope this helps... :)

I would give this game a 10 out of 5 if i could, this is by far the best game ever made. The graphics are superb and the online play is great. You can get up to 64 people in one server! The ONLY raw back is that you need a high preformance pc to play this game. Even if you think your pc can handle it, CHECK AGAIN! The thing i like is that you don't have to pay money to play online. If you are thinking of buying a game, get this one, it's not a waste of money and you'll enjoy it, I promis.
Hope this helped.

Most addicting game EVER!!

This game is like the reviewer below says"is more addicting than crack". Once you start playing, you just can't stop. I've probably logged 500 hours playing since it came out. If I didn't have a full time job, this would be it. The only cons I would say the game has is:

You need a high end system to play

You may have relationship troubles(breakup, divorce) due to playing endlessly.

Classic game

I'llmake this to the point so you can get an idea of this game. I've been playing this game for around a total of 440 hours so I have a good idea how this game works.

Single player is moderately fun. But, the AI has no teamwork to its actions. You as a human being are left to defend control points, because the game'sAI has no desire to.

Where this game is absolutely addicting is online. As an army, you have to use teamwork, because the enemy army surely is, using vioce communications, all human players will speak out if they see ANYONE coming. You personally don't have to be in a squad, but if you want to win as an army, you need to play co-operatively. The Commander is vital, using an ariel vehicle and artillery to hinder and watch enemy movements, the squad leader can hide behind enemy lines, and his squad members acan spawn on him to take a control point in a surprise move.

The game features Tanks, attack choppers, Armored vehicles, attack jets, and a various number of other vehicles, all with balanced counter measures to defend against them. The Field of play ranges from small city bulding one on one combat, to massive open fields where being on foot amounts to long hikes and boredom. This game is intense an very addicting. Most of all fun as heck.

The only real drawbacks to this game are system hogs and Patching. This game does run on mid range Computers, with the bells and whistles turned off, which actually can be an adavntage (no shading means no shade for the enemy to hide in)but overall, a decent computer is needed. The other drawback is EA notorious Patching flaws, known well by all BF2 Gamers. THey make new patches every other half hour, and the patches always create new problems. BE ready to spend some time downloading the latest fixes from EA. Despite this, this game is mandatory for any First person shooter gamer that appreciates his manhood. OR womanhood, for the female gamers out there.

Total Garbage!!! EA has some nerve.

**Edited, I have decided to give this game a more clear headed review***

Where I have no doubt this game is great, in fact I myself would love to play it, EA has just simply lost touch with reality. When you design a game that can only be played with the most sophisticated system configurations, it tends to alienate your customer base. I mean there was a guy on EA's message boards yesterday that cannot play with a brand new Alienware Area 51 PC that probably ran anywhere from 3 to 5000 dollars. A machine that was tailor made for gaming.

I run a P4 2.6Ghz, 1GB Ram, and an ATI 9250 256MB DDR Video Card. This config is perfect for all video games in my opinion. Top of the line? No of course not but should be good enough. However everywhere I go I am met with "Your PC is too outdated." Yet Star Wars Battlefront 2 just got released, works fine. Call of Duty 2? No problems. This is the ONLY game I cannot play with my config. That should tell customers and the makers something. Now, even if Call of Duty didn't work do to conflicts, there is an option to dumb it down to DX7 and lower the graphics. However with BF2, the menus are so intensive that I do not even have a chance to lower settings.

I mean, it is just poor designing and planning on EA's part. If a card is still readily available on the market then video game producers should allow for all to play the games they release.

I took part in a survey last night to determine how outdated my PC was and as it turns out, my configuration made up 94% of all who took part and I believe the figures ran into a million and a half participants. Where 4% were lower end than mine and the other 2 were slightly higher.

Perhaps EA should take part in these before releasing the next title that cannot be played.

Don't buy unless you buy a new top of the line gaming PC first.

Improved Graphics on an old idea

If you have played BF1942 Or the Desert Combat Mod then BF2 Will not be that impressive as far as innovation. The Gameplay is the same to capture waypoints and bring down enemy tickets to zero.
What BF2 Has going for it is a greatly improved graphics engine and smart AI Which brings the gaming to a new level. While the Single player has a mere 10 maps, the multiplayer has 12 maps with 3 different sizes for each according to amount of players.
16,32 or 64 player are capable online which really adds to the online version.
Another addition of BF2 Is the Commander mode that lets a player take control as a commander and Order Artillery strikes and various troop movements to areas and Send in supplies.
You will need at least a cable modem connection to play this game online and a decent graphics card. An nvidia GEFORCE 6800 is recommended to play this game if you want high video settings
And you should have 1 gig of ram on your system running at least a 2.4 ghtz cpu.
With all the hefty requirements you will be treated to graphics equal to that of HL2 But not the Physics. BF2 Has a few destructable objects such as bridges, oil drums and artillery but thats pretty much it unless you want to count street signs too.
After playing this game you get a feeling of been there , done that... and waiting for more. hopefully when mods and new maps come out we will get more.

Great Sequel! If you like bf1942 then you will love this!

I'll have to admit I was a little nervous as to how this game would play on my machine. I've purchased games in the past that didn't work on my other machines and its always disappointing to waste $50 on a game that doesn't work on your system. I'm very happy to say that the game runs smooth. Here are my specs.

AMD Athlon xp 2800+ (slightly overclocked)
1 gig ram
ATI Radeon 9600GT 128mb

The game runs very smooth with 1024 x 768 @ 60hz with all the details set at medium and anti-aliasing set at 6X. I will warn everyone that the list of supported video cards on the box is not correct. I thought that my video card may need some updating so I purchased a Geforce 6200 256mb. Although the box says it supports Geforce 5700 and up, they recently said that they don't support the 6200 and thats not on the box. So I had to return it and purchased a 6600GT. Some people have said that they got it to work but I had the same issues as with the 6200.

Now that I mentioned all of that, the game is sweet! I haven't had this much fun since I first played BF 1942. The graphics are outstanding, the teamwork that is required really adds a lot to the game. Especially the fact that all first aid boxes and ammo boxes are removed. So your team has to have medics and support personel in order to win a match. I'm sure you can win without but most teams that have a good combination of different soldiers will win most of the time. The vehicles are great but I still have a hard time with the helicopters. I don't know how they could have made the controls much better but the helis are SO EXTREMELY difficult to get used to. It must take a very long time to become an expert on the controls. But the rest of the vehicles are very easy to use. I highly recommend this game to everyone that loves Action games or first person shooters. With the addition of unlockable weapons, promotions, and medals, the replay value of this game is through the roof!!!!

This game is great. It has vehicles like tanks, helicopters, airplanes, hummers and more... You have to play as a team. You also need a decent, powerful computer like the specification recommends, and fast internet connection like DSL or Broadband.

AWESOME GAME!

BF2 is a great first person shooter game, the gameplay and the interaction with the destructible surrounds are top notch. I am new to online games, but this one seems incredible. You will probably use the single player mode for training, after few hours you will get familiar with the controls and blow the computer bots away, then you will challenge your skills against other human beings. Now that's when the real fun begins. The multiplayer game offers a good number of maps and you will get medals, badges and ribbons as you move up in the rankings. You have the choice of 500/600 servers at any given time, this game is still very popular. I strongly recommend it.
