The game Master of Orion 2 is one of those great simple stragey games. The graphics are not amazing, but with stragey does it really matter. There are different diffcult lvls as well as being able to design ships or not design ships. I still find myself being challenged by the game everyday. Took about a month to get boring, which is a long time for myself.

Master of Orion 2: Battle at Antares is a entertaining piece of software. The interface is easy to learn and very user friendly. The game has multiple races and full customization for play. So you can play the same race and have it be different each time. The plot isn't very strong and the music is weak, but other than this I would rate the game as one of the best strategy games I've ever played and would recommend it and a hall of famer.
Simply the best computer strategy game

Master of Orion 2: Battle at Antares (MOO2) is, quite simply, the best computer strategy game I've ever played. I purchased it back in 1998, I think, and its still on my computer. I still play it very regularly. It is infinitely replayable. Why? There are 5 difficulty levels, 5 possible galaxy sizes, 13 pre-set races (or design your own), different galaxy ages (meaning more or less organic life or minerals), and different beginning tech levels. Even with all of those, the game creates a different galaxy map every time you begin a new game. So, even if you leave your settings the same, you begin with a new map every time. You can customize your race with a huge variety of possible advantages or disadvantages. Up to 8 races/players can play at once, and it supports hotseat and (I think) multiplayer online play. There is a large tech tree to choose from. You can design your own ships (in terms of equipment) and choose from different ship pictures (a few for each class of ship). Finally, there are multiple ways to win: political vote, squashing all opposition, and beating the Antarans. Much, much better than its successor, MOO3, in my opinion.
One of the Best Games I've Ever Played

This turn-based game lets you do so much. You can create your own race are use one already made. You can also design ships to be scouts or gigantic battleships with the choice of your armor, shields, computer, weapons, abbilities, and guidance systems. The object of the game can have three different resuts. To win you need to either destroy all your opponents, be elected by the Republic to rule all, or destroy the brabaric hordes(optional).
With great graphics, cool sound, and excelent gameplay, this game won't let you down.

This game gave me many hours of satisfying game play. The graphics are old, but the game is better than many being released today. It is better than it's successor, MOO 3. Make sure to download the patch. It helps game play and makes the races a little more fair. Yes, the computer does cheat, but only to keep things competitive. Get this game and enjoy.
Great game. Great time waster.

Pick up this game if you can. The interface is way better than the first MOO, but this is understandable since that game came from the late 80S. Anyway do not play this game if you have a lot of work to do since you can easily spend anywhere from 3-4 hours building colonies and ships, waging war, and doing diplomacy. I would have liked this game more if there was more interactivity in building the colonies and ships other than just picking an item to build or just assembling a ship and then waiting for time and resources to be allocated so that the item can be built. Personally I would start with this game and then go out and pick up a copy of the original MOO ... both will provide lots of substantial playing time.
Great Game one of a kind series.

This game is simply a MUST HAVE. Note that I only say this about three games.
I purchased this game when it first came out years ago. I still play it when time allows. It is simply a fun game with near infinite combination of play options.
You can play a fast game with little micro-management or a slow game where you manange EVERYTHING! It is up to you, the player. Almost everything, from building your race, to designing your ships, to researching technology is up to you.
My only real criticism: The AI is dated and dumb by today's standards, but not so much so to make the game not worth buying. It is frustrating to spend a lot of time keeping a computer player happy only to have them turn on you in an instant with no chance of stopping them.
