This game is part one to The Longest Journey, Dreamfall. When I bought dreamfall, I hadn't realized there was a part one...which is always happening to me...LOL...
Part two have more detailed graphics, but I part one has some beautiful scenes. To get the whole story, playing part one should be played. You get to see the some people and places as they were first introduced.
Part two has a better playing mode. Both part one and two are made to play in the third person, but in part two you get to be more apart of the game.
I love this series, and can't wait for part three...
My favorite game of all time!

I played this game for the first time 8 or 9 years ago and was blown away. This is the ultimate adventure game, in my opinion. The plot is so intricate and the world is so fully realized. I have replayed this game so many times, I've lost count. I'm amazed that this is still available. If you enjoy interactive plots with amazing characters, this is your game.
I wouldn't play it again...

I just beat the game. I bought it for two reasons: first, I bought/beat Dreamfall before I knew it was a sequel and wanted to see how it all started; and two, it was a bargain at only $9.99.
Overall
I really didn't enjoy this game as much as the second one. The setting was odd. It was far into the future, yet the references to the present (2002 I think) made it hard to feel like it was in the future. There is one bad thing with the graphics, AA does not work on my Nvidia card. There are work-arounds, but they were too much trouble.
Gameplay
I became frustrated early in the game because of a glitch. I spent about an hour trying to get past a certain part of the game only to find out that a glitch was preventing me from completing it. This version has the feature of pressing Esc to skip ahead. This came in handy because, honestly, I don't need to see the character walk for one minute to the other side of the screen.
Some of the puzzles were far to hard. I don't usually use cheat guides, but for this game I had no choice in some places. One puzzle I found so difficult that after reading how to complete I still couldn't. I had to find a picture so I could SEE it.
Conclusion
However, I do recommend playing this game only so you can play the second. The new game Dreamfall: The Longest Journey is great. It has fresh graphics, a continuation of the story, and decent play (the fighting stinks though). So, buy this only because of the back story.

I could barely pry myself from my computer at night. I passed the game on to my father and now he is stricken with the same lack of sleep. This game is challenging, fun, entertaining, and beautiful. I cannot wait to play the sequel.
Did not like the game

Unfortunately, I played Syberia I and II before this game and found it to be too confusing. Yes, there are a lot of options at each level, but that in itself made it hard to move forward. I had to constantly rely on cheat books to find out which way to head my character. Perhaps I am not sharp enough to play a game of this caliber, but I found the style of the Syberia series much easier to deal with.
Good, but too much dialog

In an effort to get their audience to "feel" for the main character, April Ryan, the authors of this game over did it on the dialog/interaction aspect of the character. I did really enjoy this game, but it crashed on my system a few times, so I suggest -- save, and save often. Over-all a nice change from games like Baldur's Gate. Not as many elements to keep track of..simplified, but still entertaining.

At first I could not figure about a puzzle, and was really mad at the game, but it got easier after. The conversations are long, you might not like them at first, but listen to them closely, and you will enjoy the game much more. The reviews are kind of overhyped, though I am liking the game more and more.
Playing "The longest Journey" is like watching a movie, all the listenings and the motion pictures, but yet you are an actor yourself. The graphics are excellent, but your view can not move in one scene for the most part, which is special, but scenes became banal after a while. And also, there is no fighting and weapons, nor can you die.
This is as much a game to watch as a game to play, though the former quality is greater. Great entertainment, and a lot of time.
Great Game - so much joy and happiness

Had an absolutely brilliant time playing this game.
Such a clever mix between fantasy and science fiction. Beautiful graphics, clever puzzles. I didn't like the voice over of the main character though - a small point in what was a great experience.
I would highly recommend that you play it with the walkthrough thought (easily found via... - not because it's too difficult - just that that it gets you through those difficult moments smiling.
Please play this game
The Best Adventure Game Ever

This game is truly the best adventure game ever created. It combines beautiful graphics, believable characters, and an excellent storyline. As one of the other reviewers said, had this game been a book, it would have been a best seller. The puzzles are never too hard, and are never illogical, except for one at the offset of the game. Everything makes sense, and when you finish the game you will be left with a great sense of fulfillment, while at the same time craving more. It is too bad that Funcom has decided to only create MMOGs from now on and does not plan to make a sequel. Never the less, if you enjoy Adventure game, buy this game today...you will not be disappointed.
Appropriate, really.

The Longest Journey. Aptly named.
When I finished gameplay, I snapped the disc in two and tossed it. Not worth the $9.99 I payed for it.
