And a long journey it was. Good game, great story. This is a third person game so you may get annoyed with the pointing and clicking if you're not used to it. Other then that, this game is a must have.

I LOVE adventure games. Got hooked on the genre with MYST. I can only be proud that I bought this one as a used game thru Amazon. Trust me, the puzzles are simple-minded and there is way too much dialog. The plusses are that the game is very stable and does not crash. The plot line is interesting. I did use hints a few times at the end because I just wanted to finish and find out how it came out. I took about two weeks to play the game in and amongst working virtual office and waiting for phone calls at home. But I didn't EVER feel the need to get back to it to find out what happened next.
Am going to try Syberia next and hope for the best.

I bought this game because the reviews I read were glowing and it looked like it had good graphics.
When I got home and loaded it (it took forever to install) I discovered that the game was 95% just walking around and talking to various characters. Some of the characters are homo-sexual and the language was terrible. I don't want to listen to profanity or some gay woman telling me about her sexual life. I just wanted to play an adventure game. I didn't want to hear all the gay talk. After about a half an hour I had had enough of this game.
This game was totally boring with reguards to gameplay.
The content was vial.
The profanity was plentiful and totally uncalled for.
I give this game my lowest rating.
This game is like a long boring movie!

I love adventure games and have been playing them for years. I am definately not a fan of the war/fighting games so when I saw the great reviews for this game I rushed out and bought it. What a mistake!
I just don't understand the fascination with this game...it is so boring! The dialogue between the characters drags on and on and on.....which would be o.k. if it wasn't such useless small talk. I would even be o.k. with listening to a bunch of small talk if it was funny....but it isn't! Some of the conversations are actually 15-20 minutes long. I eventually gave up and started pressing the escape key when the characters started rambling about nonsense. If you plan on playing this game for only 20-30 minute increments then you will probably be able to tolerate all the lengthy conversations. If you are use to well developed adventure games then I suggest you find a different game.
Fun, but very very disappointing

I'm probably one of the few people in the world who actually plays games like this for the STORY. The game itself was great. Very well put together, decent interface once I got used to it, challenging but not TOO hard. Good graphics, good character interactions, etc. However, the plot of the story had huge holes in it (what about..???) and the ending was so much like, 'oops, we ran out of money, better just end it now' that I was disgusted. Might be setting us up for a sequel, but it was just so anti-climactic and disappointing that I wouldn't even buy a sequel.

The Longest Journey has great graphics and the story line at the beginning is great. But the conversation between characters is too stereotyped and monotonous. And it's somewhat easy if you've played many games.

I spent all day playing this game. I could not take my eyes off. Wonderful graphics and great plot. I could not wait to use logic to get to the next part of the story. I recommend this to any one who enjoys adventuure games. It was so good I was sad when it all ended.

This game has been the most worthwhile investment I have EVER spent money on! Yes, it may be very time-consuming and it may even get off to a slow start for some of the more impatient gamers in the world, but once you begin this journey, you will lose track of time because your mind will be so captivated! A never before seen mix of acting, gaming, and cinematic animation make this game the only of its kind. Anyone who gives this game a negative rating did not give it any chance and by all means, do not listen to them! Buy this game! The reason why you may not have heard about this game? Well, probably because the adventure genre had been slowly dying off for the past few years and most likely, it was developed by a smaller gaming company outside of the US. I also have to fault gaming critics everywhere in the US for not giving this game its deserved accolades on its release; it took them months to finally stop their drooling over Diablo 2 to even pick up the box! If you spent money on that game (Diablo 2), made by a second-rate gaming company (Blizzard Entertainment), you owe it to yourself to go out and buy The Longest Journey, more than likely instead of the Diablo 2 expansion pack! It is well worth the money! So quit playing Black and White, take a break from The Sims (Difficult as it may be!), go and get a partial refund, if you can, for Diablo 2, and go out and buy The Longest Journey.

When I first bought "The longest Journey" I couldnt get into the gameplay and didnt get around to playing it until a while later- Yes it is true there is a lot of diaglogue... but this Game is Rich with story, graphics, and puzzles that keeps you playing from one moment to the next- until you realize you've reached the end and you want more...
Im very picky when it comes to games- most games these days just are lacking substance. This is a very rich and detailed game. I would love to find more like it. I found a game that appears similar (havent played it yet) called "Darkened Syke" It is very similar to this game so if you liked this its worth a try.
Sometimes games are all graphics and no subtance- or the puzzles are impossible. "the longest journey" is a nice blend of both worlds.
