Great Game! The quests are compelling and the assortment of armor and weapons are unique! Although the characters are very traditional, each is different and making the best of their abilities is challenging (I like the rogue myself). Everybody should try it!
Excellent game, with a few flaws.

Before I write my review, I want to make sure you know that I played Diablo II BEFORE I played Diablo, which screwed my experience with Diablo in some respects (hated not having the running ability, already knew my character's fate, couldn't highlight items on the ground, etc). But otherwise I am not biased for or against this game.
I got this game in early 2000, I would spend all day at it, the I would get up and play it at night, sometimes even affecting my performance at school. So it certaintly is addictive, to say the least. As I mentioned earlier, I played the demo, the the full version, of Diablo II first, so I did have those complaints I mentioned above. But had I gotten into RPGs earlier, I probably would not have anything against this game. Except for the running thing, I hate it when I have to chase the archer-goatmen down endless corridors, sometimes leading me unexpectedly into another horde of enemies, without having any other option than chasing him. Arghh, that's got to be the most annoying thing in the whole game, second to forgetting to save and then dying, forcing you to replay a portion of the game over, which is really annoying.
Besides for that, and considering it was made in '97, I give this game an excellent rating. I mean, any game that makes me stay up all night has got to be good for SOMETHING.
Worthy of such praise?

I must admit, the first two to five hours of playing this game I was addicted, but afterwards, when the quests were almost non-existant, when the environment ceased to change, when the game left a bland taste in my mouth, I found it to be a fruitless journey. The game got really old really fast. Aside from this, however, there was an abundance of items to be found, and I liked the music. However, these seemed to be the only two good things in this game.

Between Duke Nuke 3d and Baldurs Gate there was Diablo. I rank all of these as the most immersive, pleasureable sinks of time I ever experienced. The game is old by todays standards, the multiplayer experience is riddled by hackers, but for its time it was truley revolutionary. I have seen this game lately on the under [low-price] shelf. I paid much more for it when it was recent and never regretted it. The only reason I do not play it anymore is my version is not compatible with Windows ME and my Windows 95 machine is now retired. Alas, the Blood War is no more!

Are you looking for a challenging game? Are you looking for a game that has a good storyline? Then this game is the one for you! This game gets harder and harder for every level you go to. At first its a small change but once you get to the final levels of the game the difficulty becomes apparent. A must play!

Diablo stands alone - no other adventure roll-playing game comes even close.
Everything about this game is just perfect - the graphics, the plot, the monsters, the setting, the music - everything. The only thing bad was that the game does end, leaving you with a serious post-partem depression that can be cured only by Diablo II.
COOL GAME!

I think this game is cool. I first got into this game because i was so into starcraft, so then i just decided to try another game made from Blizzard, which turned out to be this one, and i think it is JUST GREAT! although I only have the shareware version of Diablo, I consider getting the full retail version because even the demo kicks. This game is so addictive!! I love collecting armor, new weapons, destructive magical items, killing the evil fallens, skeletons, etc. I guarantee you all to buy this game immediately, or at least DOWNLOAD IT!!! FYI My character is a warrior that is at level 12 ;)

I thought this game really had no point. It just kept doing the same thing. Every level was the same it just didn't change. I mean it had great graphics and all but it just puts you to sleep it is so boring.
