Diablo Forever

Diablo is a *very* addictive game. Single player can be very challenging, or simple, depending on how much you want to take. Since the dungeons get more difficult as you get deeper into the labryth, you can set your own pace. Most people play the game online as well.

The only problem with Diablo is that there are cheats out there to hack any item, duplicate stuff, free gold, edit your stats, etc..this isn't fair for multiplayer, especially when there are PK fights.

I'm currently playing a level 31 Wizard on B.net. Up at these levels it takes a good bit of time to level. However, I've found that although the Warrior is strong in the beginning, later on it takes him longer to level than a Wizard.

When starting out, I suggest joining a non-PK clan. Learn to play with some level 30+, who knows the tricks of the trade, and then branch out and do what you want.

This game is waaaaaay addictive.

Thanks for reading my article! Omerald ....

Diablo may be the best game ever made. You start out as a warrior, rouge or wizard. You have come to the small town Tristram. Tristram has been almost destroyed by the Black Knig looking for his son. The Lord of Terror(Diablo) has kidnapped his son and his using his body. You start out with about 100 gold pieces. You can talk to Griswald(metalsmith) farmham, wirt, adria or cain the elder. U journey into the laberbith and kill baddies but be careful!

It's still fun after all these years

I've owned this game for about 2 years, and I still play it. Diablo uses a formula that is so simple, yet, complex. The game seems so simple and easy at first: Make trips down to the dungeon, fight, get items, return to town, heal, repeat cycle. However, the game is much deeper.

They're 3 characters to use: Warrior, Rogue, and Sorceror. The Warrior is the best to use for beginners becuase all you have to do is use hack n' slash tactics. The Rogue is well balanced, she uses physical fighting as well as magic, and you have to master both to use her effectively. The Sorceror is the hardest to master becuase he is only good at using spells, but near the end of the game, the Sorceror becomes the most powerful.

Diablo's plot is basic at first: You must go down into the dungeon and defeat the demon Diablo in order to save the town of Tristram. However, as you go through the game, you'll learn more about Diablo and about the town of Tristram. Despite what people say, this game DOES have a plot.

The game takes place in the town of Tristram and the dungeon nearby it. The town of Tristram has many people to talk to, each with their own voice actors. The music is top-notch, you'll never want to turn the sound off. Each monster has their own roar, and some even talk to you.

The gameplay is point-and-click. You click on the monster you want to vanquish. This sounds stupid at first but it gets more complex. You eventually learn spells and you must make strategies on how to use them. Also, they're countless items and armor to be found, which makes it all more interesting.

Playing multiplayer is HORRIBLE becuase of cheaters. Trust me, if you want to play multiplayer, just wait for Diablo II.

All in all, this game is a worthy purchase, and I still play it after all these years. Just be warned: It's addictive. VERY addictive. The formula of Diablo will make you sit on your chair and stare at the computer screen for days... weeks... months.

Diablo series or Baldur's Gate series?

There seems to be two types of RPG fans, the first who prefer Blizzard's RPG and the latter Interplay's. Having played both series, there is no question that both are extrememly original and addictive. The great reviews and praises the games have received are well justified. Diablo games are well suited for those who just want to get right into the action and start fighting. They are somewhat linear and lead to the same ultimate conclusion, but very replayable since the dungeons and magic items are so randomized. You can also play the game over and over, and get to keep the magical items you found in the previous games. Don't be automatically put off as soon as you see the cover art showing the Devil, a mistake I made earlier. You are not playing an evil character, but rather fighting evil itself. (Humans are neutral, where the forces of Good and Evil are constantly fighting to gain the favor of). Baldur's Gate series are more suited for people who love plots and a good storyline. You also have one ultimate conclusion, but there are many 'randomized' quests that make the game seem 'nonlinear'. Character creation is some of the best, allowing you to create up to 6 individuals (you can choose your race, class, import your own portrait, your voice, skin color, and so on). Nothing can beat Interplay's character creation. Magical items can also physically alter the appearance of your models as well. But ethical values really come into play in this series. It is such a shame that Interplay makes so many GREAT games, but literally forces the player to take on 'evil' roles. Why are most of the games they make like this? I am not going to reveal any plots, but still waiting for this great company to make something the 'nicer' gamers can appreciate. Good character alignment makes little difference when this comes into consideration. If you do not mind this and think that it is just a game, then Baldur's Gate series definitely are must-buy classics.

This is meant to be an unbiased review. I find many reviews very helpful, and hope this helps you. Remember, both game series are great, and depends on what you are looking for.

For AD&D addicts!

For those who loved (or still enjoy) Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, this is one of the best games around. You get to choose between three different types of characters: your average Warrior, Rogue (equivilent to the Ranger type) and Sorcerer. Then, just like in the D&D game, the basic rule is always the same: you have a list of quests you need to fulfill and in the end, fight the ultimate evil monster, in this case Diablo. Those are the basics: the game sucks you in. You find yourself in one of the best games made - I've finished off the game 5 times now, and still enjoy it 3 years later! The graphics may be basic in today's age, but the fun is no less. There are roughly (I'm not giving everything away here!) 15 levels the player needs to travel through before reaching his/her final destination. Even if you choose to be a Warrior, unlike most D&D characters, you can cast spells, use wands and do most basic functions an average warrior does not usually enjoy. The only slight disagreement I have with the makers of this game, is that Armor Class betters when the points go UP and not DOWN which is the usual scenario....but, hey, that's detail.

This game is beyond just plain entertainment. It keeps you up at night (literally). This is not the game to recommend to people who need their 8 hours of sleep!

Starcraft was the first game the I bought that was created by blizzard. Once I had experienced the quality of the game it made me go hunting for more games. I bought Diablo in the year 1998, and was addicted. Sure the pixels were huge, but it was the best RPG I had ever played. The graphics did not matter since the temptation to go down those stairs was too great to resist. One more level of wimpy deamons must be cleared out I said to myself. Blizzard created a masterpiece since the gameplay, and the game atmosphere was alluring to the extreme. It convinced me that graphics are puny compared to the addictive nature of the game. Sure Quake II had colored lighted, but the gameplay lived on. Quake II will be a technological benchmark, but not runner up in the most addictive game prize. Diablo kept you coming back to "beat the game" since it employs a randomization Algorithm. This means that you are driven to continue playing in hope of finding the keenest blade, the most devestating smell, or the finest armor, and the ugliest deamon. It also has three different classes of characters which are unique. I continue to play this excellent game, and am looking foward to Diablo II. Diablo II keep all the good stuff from Diablo, and add more good ideas to make Diablo II a authentic sequel. Do not rate Diablo by its age, but by it quality. Sure its 2000, but everyone should try to find old games that make them marvel at the constant innovation that occurs in the PC gaming industry Buy the game since Blizzard never delivered a unfinished piece of junk to us gamers.

Diablo Has To Be My Favorite RPG On The PC

I have had Diablo for about 2 or 3 years now and I still play the multiplayer (I even play the single player occasionaly). Exploring dungeons, killing hideous monsters, getting stronger, and learning new abilities has never been so fun. There's only 3 character classes but there cool character classes. You'v got your Strong and brave Warrior, you have your incredibly accurate master of archery, the Rouge, and you of course have to have the magic dude, the Sorcerer. The game offers great challenges, however some of the bosses were easy, especialy Diablo. I'm not saying I didn't break a sweat when fighting him, I just expected him to be stronger. Uh, but when you meet the Butcher, be ready to get very mad because you will probably die the first 6 fights (remember to save your game often!!). Multiplayer can be really fun, but somtimes those stupid hackers ruin everything. If you download anti crashes (protects you from being crashed), or god mode ( invincibility that keeps you from being killed by other players), the hackers won't bother you too much, thus letting you have a much funner game :) I havn't played Diablo 2, but I have watched a friend play it and it looks great. Ill have to buy it somtime. Oh, and if you like gore in your games there's alot of it in here. Like when you kill a zombie, its body parts fall off and some flesh and blood splatters on the wall, or when one of those horned demons die, their chest splits open and blood just goes everywhere. And don't think the dungeons and all the other levels are going to be clean and happy, because they are made up of bodys, heads, arms, and everything stuck on spikes, or dead bodys chained to walls. And it's kinda disturbing when you walk into the Butchers "kitchen", because theres blood, organs, and body parts scrawled all over the floor. This is definatelly not a game for kids AT ALL. The graphics and sound are good considering how old the game is. This is no doubt one of the best RPGs to ever grace the pc. A must buy!!!

A good, simple, fun, violent game.

It's a great way to bash, shoot, and fry demons and monsters. Game basics aren't very original; Tunnels of Doom for the TI 99/4A looked a lot like it in '82. But the graphics and multiplayer aspect make it stand out.

Addictive until you beat it, but not much replay value

For two or three weeks after I installed "Diablo," my forearms ached with repetitive stress pains caused by too much "Diablo." (I was playing on a laptop, and the need to use the shift key, both mouse buttons, and the touch pad was stressful.)

When I made it through the dungeon and confronted Diablo, he thrashed me, no matter how I tried approaching him. So I started at the top of the dungeon with the same character, bulked up a bit more, and acquired the armor and weapons I needed. When I faced Diablo the second time, it was a cinch to beat him.

And now, the prospect of going back through as a different character class and having to work up to the level of potency I just experienced isn't all that thrilling, especially when I've moved on to "Starcraft."

The problem is that much of the lower levels of "Diablo" is repetitive: you have to go forward a bit, lure a few monsters after you, retreat, kill the ones that follow, and repeat the process until you clear an area. The combination of Death Knights and Advocates on level 16 isn't formidable once you get the hang of how to deal with them, but it still takes hours (literally) to clear the level.

WOW!

Diablo is a addictive game that will hang u up all day in front of that darn computer. You can choose between warrior (strong but little magic), rogue (in between), and sorcerer(weak, but lots of mana). The single player game isn't much, but multi player makes up for this. Buuuuuuuuuuut in multi-player, other poeple hack to get good stuff, boot you, and kill you without warning (called pks; hated by most and undefetead by others). However, when you get strong enough you can stop others from doing these cheap things. Diablo also comes with something that i looked forward to and you should to; you will never play the same game twice. The levels you go to are always different in a different game. And if you find yourself under heavy attack, go back to town where no one fights(you can't; I often go there). So, the part you want me to talk about is here,

Pros:
-never the same game twice
-addictive
-good graphics
-thousands of weapons, sheilds, armors, spell books, ect, ect

-different characters provied different planning of how you strom Diablo's fortress

Cons:
-Pks and hackers ruin multiplayer
-to hard for beggining characters who don't have many spells and stuff

Sooooooooooooooooo, with that over, you know I've been typing this forever and I don't wanna wast my time, so just listen to me and buy it. You will honor the day you do as a holiday(hehe. you might not, but you might want to). sorry, I have a game to play that you didn't buy yet. . . .
