Another great Blizzard Game

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 32 / 36

I loved StarCraft, so i decided to try another Blizzard game. Diablo was it. Ever since I popped it in 2 nights ago, I've been addicted. I'm at the beggining to the 7th dungeon and I have a Lv.13 Warrior that kicks.... I love searching for new weapons, armor, and new monsters to kill. Some people critisized the small town in which you are based, but I think it serves it's purpose well. The town was not the reason i gave the game a 4 instead of 5.

The reason was that, so far, I have not been very challenged by the game. All the bosses were a piece of cake and the quests were not as hard as i thought they would be. Also, my uncle and friend both informed me that even the big guy, Diablo, was easy to defeat.

However! Don'r run away yet! This game is extremely addicting and is worth the 10 or 20 bucks you spend on it. Even with the problems I named, it is my favorite RPG. And, I'm not 1/2 way through yet so it could increase in difficulty.

In closing, buy this game. You won't be sorry. Just one warning: Once you get it, your grades will drop and you will lose hours of sleep... because you won't be able to leave the computer! It's time for me to go....

Its beauty is its simplicity

This game, I must say, is one of the most addictive, fun, frustrating, sleep-wasting, homework delaying, fun games ever. While Blizzard, in the manual, gives their usual in depth backstory and pictures and all, the plot of the game is very simple -- fight your way through Diablos minions and then kill the big guy himself.

During the course of all this, you can go back up through the depths into town to reprovision, get some advice from the townspeople, and go on quests for them, from which you get various rewards.

I literally do not think I've ever played a game as addictive as this one. The hours fly. You go through a few levels, and it seems to be fairly quick, and then you realize its 2 am. The first few levels may seem easy, especially if you're playing with a warrior, but once you get down to the depths, believe me, it will be a challenge for anyone.

The graphics, almost five years later, are still very good, as are the spells, weapons and enemies, and the animations of all of them. The worst thing about this game is that you will invariably want to carry more gear than can fit on you, and it's a be-itch trying to figure out what excellent item to sell, and what to keep, only to decide when it's too late you'd rather have done it the other way around.

I haven't played much multiplayer, but that's excellent too. I definitely recommend this game to anyone and everyone. Kudos to Blizzard for a game well done.

Diablo Forever

Diablo is a *very* addictive game. Single player can be very challenging, or simple, depending on how much you want to take. Since the dungeons get more difficult as you get deeper into the labryth, you can set your own pace. Most people play the game online as well.

The only problem with Diablo is that there are cheats out there to hack any item, duplicate stuff, free gold, edit your stats, etc..this isn't fair for multiplayer, especially when there are PK fights.

I'm currently playing a level 31 Wizard on B.net. Up at these levels it takes a good bit of time to level. However, I've found that although the Warrior is strong in the beginning, later on it takes him longer to level than a Wizard.

When starting out, I suggest joining a non-PK clan. Learn to play with some level 30+, who knows the tricks of the trade, and then branch out and do what you want.

This game is waaaaaay addictive.

Thanks for reading my article! Omerald ....

Diablo may be the best game ever made. You start out as a warrior, rouge or wizard. You have come to the small town Tristram. Tristram has been almost destroyed by the Black Knig looking for his son. The Lord of Terror(Diablo) has kidnapped his son and his using his body. You start out with about 100 gold pieces. You can talk to Griswald(metalsmith) farmham, wirt, adria or cain the elder. U journey into the laberbith and kill baddies but be careful!

It's still fun after all these years

I've owned this game for about 2 years, and I still play it. Diablo uses a formula that is so simple, yet, complex. The game seems so simple and easy at first: Make trips down to the dungeon, fight, get items, return to town, heal, repeat cycle. However, the game is much deeper.

They're 3 characters to use: Warrior, Rogue, and Sorceror. The Warrior is the best to use for beginners becuase all you have to do is use hack n' slash tactics. The Rogue is well balanced, she uses physical fighting as well as magic, and you have to master both to use her effectively. The Sorceror is the hardest to master becuase he is only good at using spells, but near the end of the game, the Sorceror becomes the most powerful.

Diablo's plot is basic at first: You must go down into the dungeon and defeat the demon Diablo in order to save the town of Tristram. However, as you go through the game, you'll learn more about Diablo and about the town of Tristram. Despite what people say, this game DOES have a plot.

The game takes place in the town of Tristram and the dungeon nearby it. The town of Tristram has many people to talk to, each with their own voice actors. The music is top-notch, you'll never want to turn the sound off. Each monster has their own roar, and some even talk to you.

The gameplay is point-and-click. You click on the monster you want to vanquish. This sounds stupid at first but it gets more complex. You eventually learn spells and you must make strategies on how to use them. Also, they're countless items and armor to be found, which makes it all more interesting.

Playing multiplayer is HORRIBLE becuase of cheaters. Trust me, if you want to play multiplayer, just wait for Diablo II.

All in all, this game is a worthy purchase, and I still play it after all these years. Just be warned: It's addictive. VERY addictive. The formula of Diablo will make you sit on your chair and stare at the computer screen for days... weeks... months.

For AD&D addicts!

For those who loved (or still enjoy) Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, this is one of the best games around. You get to choose between three different types of characters: your average Warrior, Rogue (equivilent to the Ranger type) and Sorcerer. Then, just like in the D&D game, the basic rule is always the same: you have a list of quests you need to fulfill and in the end, fight the ultimate evil monster, in this case Diablo. Those are the basics: the game sucks you in. You find yourself in one of the best games made - I've finished off the game 5 times now, and still enjoy it 3 years later! The graphics may be basic in today's age, but the fun is no less. There are roughly (I'm not giving everything away here!) 15 levels the player needs to travel through before reaching his/her final destination. Even if you choose to be a Warrior, unlike most D&D characters, you can cast spells, use wands and do most basic functions an average warrior does not usually enjoy. The only slight disagreement I have with the makers of this game, is that Armor Class betters when the points go UP and not DOWN which is the usual scenario....but, hey, that's detail.

This game is beyond just plain entertainment. It keeps you up at night (literally). This is not the game to recommend to people who need their 8 hours of sleep!

Diablo series or Baldur's Gate series?

There seems to be two types of RPG fans, the first who prefer Blizzard's RPG and the latter Interplay's. Having played both series, there is no question that both are extrememly original and addictive. The great reviews and praises the games have received are well justified. Diablo games are well suited for those who just want to get right into the action and start fighting. They are somewhat linear and lead to the same ultimate conclusion, but very replayable since the dungeons and magic items are so randomized. You can also play the game over and over, and get to keep the magical items you found in the previous games. Don't be automatically put off as soon as you see the cover art showing the Devil, a mistake I made earlier. You are not playing an evil character, but rather fighting evil itself. (Humans are neutral, where the forces of Good and Evil are constantly fighting to gain the favor of). Baldur's Gate series are more suited for people who love plots and a good storyline. You also have one ultimate conclusion, but there are many 'randomized' quests that make the game seem 'nonlinear'. Character creation is some of the best, allowing you to create up to 6 individuals (you can choose your race, class, import your own portrait, your voice, skin color, and so on). Nothing can beat Interplay's character creation. Magical items can also physically alter the appearance of your models as well. But ethical values really come into play in this series. It is such a shame that Interplay makes so many GREAT games, but literally forces the player to take on 'evil' roles. Why are most of the games they make like this? I am not going to reveal any plots, but still waiting for this great company to make something the 'nicer' gamers can appreciate. Good character alignment makes little difference when this comes into consideration. If you do not mind this and think that it is just a game, then Baldur's Gate series definitely are must-buy classics.

This is meant to be an unbiased review. I find many reviews very helpful, and hope this helps you. Remember, both game series are great, and depends on what you are looking for.

Straightforward and to the point...

This is an RPG stripped of the roleplaying elements and reduced to a hack-and-slash. But it's a _fun_ hack-and-slash, and that's what matters, right? There's a nice variety of baddies to go after, especially if you buy the Hellfire add-on. Don't buy if you're prone to repetitive-motion injuries, because you'll be clicking the mouse nearly constantly throughout much of the game; and watch out for cheaters in the multiplayer arena. But take it for what it is--a fun romp through a dungeon full of monsters carrying around gold coins for no obvious reason--and you can't go wrong.

Still playing after all of these years

I bought Diablo when it was first released back in 1997 and to this day I still find myself playing it. I have solved it numerous times but I never tire of it. I just create a new character and start from scratch. Whether it be a warrior, rogue or sorcerer, it is fun playing as each character and finding the strengths and weaknesses for each character. Even though Diablo 2 has since been released the original Diablo is still fun. The graphics may not hold a candle to the games on the market today, but in the end all that matters is fun and Diablo is just that FUN! If you are looking for a game to play while passing the time between blockbuster releases, then pick up a copy of Diablo if you don't already have it.

Best game ever!

Diablo was great to play. It's addictive to run around and kill everything with a huge diversity of spells and magic weapons, especially with the random dungeon design and huge ambushes you discover. Diablo's real tough as the sorcerer since he is almost immune to fire and lightning and is immune to pure magic. But getting killed only gave me an excuse to pump my character up some more before going back. Only real problem was that your game is saved to your name and you can't save to a seperate file. My level 29 sorcerer reverted back to an earlier save as an level 9 character. That's really my only thing against the game and that just gave me a chance to skip over some mistakes that I made while progressing to level 29. But hey, there's only a very slight chance of that happening so I give the game 5 stars.
