Don't waste your time

I currently own about 7 PS2 titles and this is one of the only
games I have purchased that I didn't bother going very far with.
It is very repetitive and there just isn't enough to do. I find
it hard to believe that it has such a high rating. I am 37 and I recently let my 25 year old friend play it on his PS2 and he felt
the same way as me... pretty weak game. Not very fun at all. It is not something you will rush home to play and get engrossed with.

its a bad game so dont waste your money in buying it. maybe rent it but dont buy it. i bought it thinking it might be like rouge squadren but not at all like it. its kind of hard and not very fun.

A few words for my fellow gamers, DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. This game's stages are repetitive and boring, very little challenge. This game brings nothing new, it doesn't even take full advantage of the grafic power of playstation 2. This game's story line is dull & lame. This game SUCKS. When I bought it at the store, they gave me 2 options: Buy a new one, or a used one for $10 less. I thought to my self "Used? Already?" MMMMMhhhhhhhhhh....Maybe it's not good...but what the heck, it's only $39". What a moron!!! I should have kept my money and bought myself a yo-yo!!! Or put $10 extra and buy Z.O.E. with the Metal Gear Solid 2 playable demo. Please don't make my same mistake. RENT IT BEFORE YOU BUY IT!!! PLEEEAAASE!!!

Do not believe the reviews about how great this game is! This game is one of the worst I've played. The missions are boring and repetitive and at sometimes close to impossible. There are only a few playable spacecraft and they ultimately suck! Don't waste your money on this game. It is very disapointing.

I just bought my Playstation2 yesterday(I know what took so long, but it hard to buy anything overseas)nayway I had high hope that my first game was going to rock dude. But nooooooooo I had to buy Star Wars. Maybe I'm being mean and jumping to conclusions but it really does suck. The controls are just trouble and the graphic are playstation1 level. All I can ask is why me Lord.

Good graphics, frustrating gameplay

This game looks and sounds great, and it's great to be in the Star Wars universe. But the controls are very difficult and it's very confusing and frustrating trying to figure out what is going on. I am still stuck on the first "real" mission which I cannot complete, even on easy mode. There is almost no way to make precise adjustments with the usual control; perhaps some sort of flight stick would be better. When you do get lost the game does very little to help you figure out how to get back in it other than barking useless orders. Notice how many copies are for sale--don't waste your money.

Worst game that I've ever purchased for PSX/PS2

I really don't understand why this crappy game has such a high rating here. First of all, the control of the game sucks big time. Why would you need BOTH analogy sticks to fly the damn thing? I haven't seem this kind of control before and it just doesn't feel right at all. Back to the game itself, each mission's got problems - especially when flying in space. You don't get a sense of distance and there's an invisible boundary that you can't cross even in space. I was on mission 8 and chasing the freighters, by the time I shot down the 1st one, I got BOUNCED back (because of the boundary problem) and couldn't get close to the 2nd freighter! And there's no way out but to abort the mission!! WTF! Just as the editorial review here, there's a "ceiling" when playing planetary mission so that you can't climb higher to overlook the landscape. With such limitation, what's the difference between this and a 2D game?? Aside from the gameplay, the graphics and sound effect aren't that outstanding either. If it wasn't because of the game coming as a bundle, I wouldn't even look at it. I think this game is worthless to the point that it shouldn't even be rated. Beware of this junk!

After reading the reviews for this game, I was all psyched up for a killer title - how wrong I was!! The game is OK, but nothing like I was expecting. Yes, the gameplay is simple and smooth, graphics are good, sound is great. But where are the characteristics of a stunning game? I've been playing space shooters for a long time, starting with the original Wing Commander. The last Wing Commander I played (4 I think) had great movie footage, a wonderful storyline, multiple paths to take in the game, and a large number of missions, all of which were far more exciting than the ones found in Starfighter. And that game was released a number of years ago for the PC. To tell you the truth, I'd much rather sit down and play that than waste my time with Starfighter. When will there be some PS2 titles that are actually impressive??

This is my first PS2 game, and only for 2 hours I found that it is hard to control, and sold it to a second hand game store...

I mean jeez the view sucs evn though you can change it,but when you do change it it feels like worse control,good graphics,ok gameplay,but really gets boring,if your into star wars, for the love of god dont get this.
