A great flying game

This game is one of the best flying games in the world! It's always fun to play when I'm bored. About 15 missions with 3 pilots to battle your way to save Naboo from the Trade Federation. The great graphics and many bad guys are cool. This is like real life. The last level is the best where you and your team battle with at least 40 bad guys flying everywhere in space. If you like Star Wars or any type of flying game then this is for you!

This is the best Star Wars game ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This game is my favorite game for the PS2, the graphics are some of the best yet. The game isn't that short and it has a secret 2 player game that's pretty fun. All the ships are really cool and the controlling of the ships are reaally good. This game has very good value. So for $50 bucks is so worth it. I finished the game and I'm still playing it. So if you like flying/Star Wars/action gaming then go and get this game.

Dissapointing for a PS2 game but worth the buy if you haven't played Rouge Squandron and don't own N64. It starts off okay by giving you a training mission to complete that covers the basics but isn't impossible to beat so you have a good idea around how to navigate. The first real mission is a lot like alot of the Colony Wars II missions. The graphics are cool, lays a good arena for a air fight but doesnt hinder you with slow speed or gun overheating like CWII. I guess the only issue I have is it is alot of what I've seen before in PS1 and N64 games. Honestly I would say if you want a great Star Wars Game, Rouge Squandron for N64 is still it so dust it off. If you dont own it and never played RS, then this game comes close enough and I would reccomend a buy.

Starfighter delivers indeed...

Starfighter is an excellent game. It plays alot like the PS1's Colony Wars but with more power, more intensity, more fluidity, and a better storyline. The stage levels and ship movements are amazing in detail and the sound is spectacular, particularly when enemy troops perform swarm attacks, in which you literally become drowned within waves of enemy ships, and are deafened by the high pitched hum of their engines. Definitely use either your surround sound or headphones for this one, and don't worry, the controls are not hard to get used to. Although the main storyline missions can be accomplished in a few days, increasing the level of difficulty to hard provides for a thrilling challenge and lots of replay time. There's also several bonus missions and play options to be unlocked as you progress in your gameplay. This was a great purchase and is highly recommended for anyone who digged the final starfighting scene in Jedi.

Beautiful graphics, great music score, controls need work.

Just like I said, the graphics are beautiful, the music score is exciting and the sound quality is very good overall. The missions are relatively easy. I finished the game in 3 days and returned it. I found the first and final missions to be the most difficult, but once you get a handle on the controls, success is around the corner. I think once you finish the game, replay value is low. I wish the missions had been a bit more challenging and complex. It's the best Star Wars game so far, but I found it difficult at times to maneuver the flight controls. Basically, flight simulation needs work, but overall a fun game. For hardcore gamers, this game is a definite rental, but for you Star Wars fans, it's worth the investment. Definitely stay away from the Star Wars Bombad Racing game. That was a disappointment! Go M's! I-chi-ro! I-chi-ro! I-chi-ro!

Stunning graphics, but...

The graphics and movement on this title lived up to the hype. The only drawback I would offer would be the at-times unclearness of your objective. Due to the incredible graphics and movement, some missions are difficult to remain focused on your targets. Very possible I am splitting hairs here. Regardless, the game overall is definately a must buy, and any gamer will enjoy.

Star Wars Starfighter Rocks

This game is definitely a must have because of the challenges that it gives you alone. The format makes you feel as if you're a part of a movie or story line. The graphics is consistent with the power that the PS2 has, and for those who are big star wars fans like me will definitely love this game. The only negative is that sometimes the game gets confusing when it comes to controlling the ships on a consistent basis. But, the bottomline is you will get used to it. Besides Madden this game is #2 on my list, and I don't think I impress easily when it comes to video games. Make Starfighter your next purchase.

REALLY SUCKS!!!

Do not believe the reviews about how great this game is! This game is one of the worst I've played. The missions are boring and repetitive and at sometimes close to impossible. There are only a few playable spacecraft and they ultimately suck! Don't waste your money on this game. It is very disapointing.

Worst game that I've ever purchased for PSX/PS2

I really don't understand why this crappy game has such a high rating here. First of all, the control of the game sucks big time. Why would you need BOTH analogy sticks to fly the damn thing? I haven't seem this kind of control before and it just doesn't feel right at all. Back to the game itself, each mission's got problems - especially when flying in space. You don't get a sense of distance and there's an invisible boundary that you can't cross even in space. I was on mission 8 and chasing the freighters, by the time I shot down the 1st one, I got BOUNCED back (because of the boundary problem) and couldn't get close to the 2nd freighter! And there's no way out but to abort the mission!! WTF! Just as the editorial review here, there's a "ceiling" when playing planetary mission so that you can't climb higher to overlook the landscape. With such limitation, what's the difference between this and a 2D game?? Aside from the gameplay, the graphics and sound effect aren't that outstanding either. If it wasn't because of the game coming as a bundle, I wouldn't even look at it. I think this game is worthless to the point that it shouldn't even be rated. Beware of this junk!

Buy this game.
