This game is awesome... The twist the turns and essientally playing as three different people, Chris, Steve, and claire. The plot is good. It adds more information when you thought your already knew everything. It is one of the longer game plays out of the resident evil series, but it is increidably worth it. I also think the monsters are one of the best... My favorite Nasferatu. He is awesome... And who wouldn't love a game with a cross dresser. I advise playing code veronica you will enjoy it

Okay, as a long standing fan of the RE series I feel I'm qualified to say that this was a pretty good game. The graphics alone are worth the purchase for PS2. Some of the weaponry is different than its predecessors. The shotgun for instance just doesn't seem as powerful, whereas the magnum is just as devestating as always. The storyline is unique and it was wonderful to play Chris again. While it was lacking in action a bit, the element of surprise made up for it. Imagine my surprise when I opened a door and found myself in the foyer of the mansion!

It's an excellent game and completely worth the money if you're a fan, or even if you want to try out the series. Although for story's sake you'll want to start at the beginning (RE1, 2, etc) or you're not going to know who Leon and Chris are. Nemesis doesn't really come into play because Jill and Carlos are never mentioned.

Oh, and just an FYI - you can decapitate the Zombies. There's always been an easy headshot with the magnum and in the battle game you can use Steve and point the lugers up when the zombies are right on top of you and blow their brains out. :) Have fun gamers!

Overrated.

If there is one thing I've learned about video games, it's that you should never play a newer game and work your way back to older games. Let's take this game for example. I have Resident Evil 4 for the Wii and I absolutely loved it. I decided to get another RE game and settled on this one based on the semi-good reviews. Boy, was I disappointed.

One of the biggest disappointments is the camera angles. Sometimes you're facing one way in a scene and in the next scene, you're facing another way so if you have difficulty with the controls, it's harder to figure out exactly what to do just to move your character in a straight line. Sometimes the camera doesn't move along with your movements so you can't see everything and (in my case at least), I missed a few items that I could've used in the game.

As mentioned above, the controls are also hard. I'm not a huge gamer so the straight-forward controls (meaning left is left, right is right, etc.) are what I like. In Code Veronica X, it's almost opposite. And when you have zombies coming at you from every which way, it gets frustrating when you can't figure out how the heck to run away. Mix that with aiming your weapons and it's borderline impossible to get from point A to point B.

A few other notable things that irritated me were the multiple zombies, the difficult "puzzles", the slow movement of the character, and the loading time of some scenes. The zombies will come at you 3, 4, or 5 at a time on occasion, making it nearly impossible to come out of a situation unharmed. And when you get hurt, you walk SO. DARN. SLOW. When you have to move across the entire island because you forgot something, this becomes incredibly annoying. I wouldn't say that i'm impatient but when you leave/enter any room, it cuts to a loading screen which takes forever to load. Not a huge flaw but definitely worth mentioning. The one thing that I like about this game is the "puzzles", or having to figure out what you have to do or which item you need in order to make it to the next part of the game. The "puzzles" in this game are certainly not easy and I've had to look up some tips on the internet when I get stuck.

Yes, there are a couple of things I like about this game. As mentioned already, I like that this game has you figuring out what exactly you need to do in order to beat the game. It's not just about killing zombies. I also like that there are cut scenes that tell a story.

I do think this game could have been good if the controls and camera angles were fixed. If you're interested in RE games, I'd start with the very first game and work your way up so you won't be disappointed. If you're a casual gamer and/or you've played newer RE games, I'd skip this one. If I had a choice, I'd rate this game 2.5 stars rather than 2 but I don't think it's worthy of 3 stars.

SUCKS BIG AZZ

This game plain sucks! Maybe five years ago it was cutting edge, but today it's so slow and ponderous it'll drive you INSANE. You have to go through the whole b.s. beginning story each replay and the characters are so stiff and wooden, you struggle to move and maneuver them when all you really want to do is kill a bunch of friggin' zombies. If you've played any game that gives it's players even a little play of movement, this will be a major step back for you.

It's an alright game

Firstly, this game is quite messed up. It's supposed to be a team survival game, but they always make you fight alone. Think about it realistically, if you were surrounded by that many monsters, would you want to be alone, like how Steve leaves Claire all the time and goes off on his own. I think the game should allow you to be with at least another person, if not more, to fight with, of course, that's what Resident Evil Outbreak is for (thankfully). The graphics are amazing, but the mid-game graphics are not at all that great. The only time you see the great graphics is at the beginning movie and the middle of the game, and the very end. You can't even see the fist fight between Chris and Wesker in the awsome graphics, kinda lame. I mean, if they ARE capable of making such graphics, then they should just use them for ALL the cut scenes. One thing I like about Resident Evil, is how things pop out from no where and spook you, it's kinda cool, especially when you've beat the game, and you're sitting with your friend that hasn't played it yet, and you see him jump from one of those scenes, it's quite hilarious. The camera and the controls are terrible. You have to pevite(or how ever you spell that word), and then run, makes it hard to reach your destination. If only all the Resident Evil games would have cooperative playing, then that would make the game much more fun. If you're a fan of the series, then knock yourself out, cause this is the best Resident Evil game to ever come out on any Playstation Console.

Good game, Bad conversion

....

Take on the zombies and Umbrella Corporation for the first time in true 3D. Code Veronica no longer uses pre-rendered backdrops like the other games in the series did, everything is drawn in polygons and is fully interactive.

The whole game oozes class, from the stunning FMV sequences all the way down to little details like the bullet cases flying out of your pistol as you take down another one of the amazingly deatiled zombies.

The storyline is your typical horror game affair. Claire Redfield is thrown in a prison cell after the evil Umbrella Corporation caught her snooping around their secret facility looking for information on her lost brother Chris. She escapes the prison thanks to a wounded guard handing her the keys to her cell. You find that you are stuck on an island in the middle of nowhere... and to make matters worse, the island is infested with zombies! You have to escape the island, Stop Umbrella Corporation's sick experiments with the dead, and find your brother.

Sound's difficult huh? Well, unfortunately the puzzles in the game are VERY easy, and the game is short. You'll complete the game in a few days, but you'll enjoy every minute of them. Once you do complete the game, you get a few bonus weapons and an all new Battle Mode, which allows you to play the game in a first person perspective....

O.K. , but lacking what the othes had

This game was alright, except for for thing. I didn't like the feel of the game. It has excellent graphics, cool story, and some nice weapons. The thing I didn't like was the idea of taking it to such a low brow area. Like in RE:Survivor, it takes place on an island, which kind of takes the fun out of it. I think you should be able to explore more of Racoon City, throw in some new enemys. This game just bored me. In this game, you just kill zombies, which is the jist of the game. But, unlike RE 1, 2, and 3, it felt obscure. When I started playing it, I just thought it was like a remake of Survivor, which ...[stunk] really bad. Next time, make the game a little more appealing. Or maybe it's just me.

Just think about it....I only speak the truth!!!!!!!

In my opinion the game is not what you expected. The game is a director's cut from Sega's DC console and the folks at CAPCOM used the same format. It lacks 3D detail ( and for... you may want your pennies worth ). The story is a fresh start from the PSOne games but as I said before it lacks the 3D detail that you would see in a well made PS2 game ( don't get me wrong but compare the game with one of it's kind like Silent Hill 2, Onimusha or even the GAME CUBE version of RE now called BIOHAZARD ). THINK ABOUT IT!!!!!

Cool!!!!

I have played all the Resident Evil series and this is by far the best one. I love how the combat knife is actually a formidable weapon in this game- in fact, you would have almost no chance of surviving the game without it!! As another reviewer said, there is a decrease in the gore, but I think that's okay (especially when my character dies!-In Resident Evil 2 the zombies chomp you until one of your veins explodes and sends blood flying everywhere)
This is a must have for any serious video gamer's collection
