The gameplay fun factor for me is very high due to that I love
dog fighting with my friends.The graphics and replay modes are
just fantastic;if you are not a jet fighter fans I do not advised
you to buy it but rent it instead!

I've always been a fan of the series and this one is no exception. With improved grahics and enemy AI, this game is a lot more fun than the previous Ace Combats. There are other features such as two player mode, while this is new, it isn't as fun as I hoped but its nice that they added it. Also, while having 18 missions is good, I wish that they would have made it longer. Still, some of the later missions were fairly challenging, especially when you go up against five planes by yourself. While you attempt to lock on to one of the planes ( which is acting as a decoy ) the other four are positioning themselves behind you and trying to lock on to you. This game is a more of an arcade game rather than a simulation, in most missions your plane carries more than 50 missiles and it takes two shots to take out an air target. It does have the simulation aspects of the game when it comes to the physics of the game but the combat is pure arcade which makes it, in my opinion, more fun that any pc simulation game. Definitely worth playing, forget about that Top Gun game, if you want a (great) game on your PS 2, look no further than Ace Combat 4.

I agree with all the positive reviews. The game is absolutely awesome. I got Thunderstrike, GTA3, Smugglers Run2 and this game for Christmas and caught myself playing AC4 the most so far. The only drawback is there are only 18 missions. I think going back to the missions with different aircraft will be fun. As well as upping the level of difficulty. I played it on normal since the beginning. Landing on the carrier is fun as well as watching the awesome replay of the missions. Graphics are unreal. It looks like watching a movie. The only drawback is I wish they would have used a normal enemy. Iraq, Iran, whoever. I don't really like the Eurasions story plot. I like going up against a real enemy. Looking forward to the next one.

Best Flight Sim Yet...

First off I just got it this chrstmas(2001) and beat it today (dec. 28 2001) with about 5 hours or tim spent on easy. Its cool and the graphics are photo realistic untill you get to oh maybee 200 feet then they get to look like PS1 graphics. The gameplay missions and storyline is good. Heres an idea of some of the missions: Re Created Pearl Harbor, Kill a giant Astroi Shooter, Assist A re-created D-Day and a Luke Sky-walker type death star inthe tunnels fin battle. Thats only to name a few. The controls are great and the viewpoints(First Person, Cockpit and Third Person) are great and the planes always look good. The isltes are real and Everything is just real except you get 70 misltes(whitch is fair for the mission). There are many yets that are real and good and the price is right. You buy upgrades and new planes/guns. he Story is good and the game is good. Ge this unless your sherlock holmes.

This flying game is just what I expected. Missions, one on one combat, all fighter models you can choose, great control achieved by Playstation, sound is perfect. If there were a new version available right now I would buy it. Perfect choice and can be a good choice for children certain age.

The graphics are excellent (Gran Turismo quality), the game play is fun, and the story line (and Japanese anime) is very nice.

This leans more towards the arcade shooter side than the flight simulator side. Don't expect a "Falcon 4.0" Its still the best (well, *only* considering the competition for it) military aircraft flyer on the PS2.

Realistic armchair flying for pilots

I received a VFR pilot license almost 20 years ago but have not flown since I had kids. This game provides a very realistic physical flying experience plus the thrill of dogfight and numerous air and ground missions. I've played the game through three times now and there are numerous bonus each time you complete it - retaining all your planes, free flying, fly any mission, and numerous new planes that become available. Well worth the money. If you love flying with a competitive military adventure thrown in, this is it. Trust me, the enemy targets are not easy going!

This game has to be the best game I have ever played. The game makes you feel like your really in the cockpit flying around shooting other planes down!Its also such a cheap game because it only costs twenty dollars. I think that anyone who likes flying games should definitely get this game

Hard to explain how great this game is. Controls are tight, visuals are awesome, situations are realistic. Unlike Top Gun ammo is limited and the missle misses really come back to hunt you later on. The story is great. Perhaps my very feature is if you hold the O button after you fire a missle the camera will zoom out of cockpit view and follow the missle like a hollywood movie the return once you let it go (it's so cool). Only flaw is the explosions as they are weak, really weak.
