Great Game

Xenogears is a great game. The story line is fantastic and the graphics were excellent for their time. The only flaw I saw in it was the battles with the Gears, I found it quite boring compared to the regular battles and it often slowed the game down. The battles out of the Gears are alot more fun and exciting. Overall a great game with a good replay value...pick it up.

One of the most interesting plots Square has ever created.

I purchased Xenogears simply because I had credit with a retailer that was in danger of expiring. Square was known for its reputation of producing well-made games, so I decided to use my credit to purchase Xenogears. I have played many of Square's games, and it is my opinion that Xenogears has perhaps the best plot I have ever experienced. The game begins with Fei, a young man who does not remember anything from his past. Due to events beyond his control, Fei is forced into a quest he does not even understand. During the game, Fei gradually discovers more about himself (or so he thinks). Then suddenly the game has a large plot twist that causes you to rethink many key events. You suddenly find that many key people are not who you think they are--literally. I hope this is not too vague, but I do not want to give away any of the surprises. As for the gameplay, it often suffers from being too slow. However, the plot is enough to keep you playing the game.

This game RULES!

This game is worth well over the price it costs. It is such an Amazing game, especially if you are an RPG fan. If you're not an RPG fan and you want to start, I suggest not to start with this game, because it is very hard for beginners and it's Very long. The only flaw in this game is that there's a lot of dialogue. Anime is awesome, but it could use some more, the gameplay is great, great storyline, and some replay value. Great Value!

One of my favorite RPGs

This game has quite a few secrets and stuff but mainly just for stats and not fun. I would give this game 10 Stars if I could. This game has one of the best storylines I have ever seen in a game. The battles are okay, nothing to complain about. I guess that you fight a lot in your Gears and not much without them. The story is very romantic between Fei and Elly and a few plot twists in between. Fei and Elly are lovers but thats not it, theres much more than you could think. I would say it is better than Final Fantasy 7 because the story was too confusing and the ending left me off without being satisfied. Xenogears is a great game with a great story, the only thing that was bad was the DUB. The Japanese voices were very good, voices like Chichiri and Tamahome from Fushigi Yuugi.

XenoGears is the best game I have ever played period. The graphics, gameplay, sound, control, and storyline rocked. I recommend this game to anybody who loves to get really involved in a game. Even if you dont the combo system is just plan fun and the gear designs were way cool. If you get into this game you wont be able to put it down. Everybody I know loves it and everybody should play it. It has something for everbody. It had me glued to my TV for a good month. I couldnt get enough of it!

My interest in this game began when i played the demo that Square release with another game. I have been a very big anime fan for a long time, so when I saw some of the art, I knew I had to get this game. What surprised me next was the depth and complexity that encompassed in the story line. Like many an anime movie *Ghost in the Shell was mentioned I believe*, there are some rather confusing ideas portrayed, but that simply gives you a chance to think (for once in a game!). The game loses some momentum towards the end however, and leads to a situation VERY similar to FF 7 in the end *not a crater...a giant Deus Fortress*, which is a Squaresoft trademark in some sense *mana fortress, 1999 lavos, etc*. Only one REAL flaw hurt the game, and that was the bad dubbing job. It's almost like watching a bad kung fu movie, but it's a small price to pay for such wonderful anime artwork. Overall, a classic in the making!

Simple, exhilarating brilliance.

Xenogears is a shining example of why Squaresoft is the single greatest third-party developer of all time. Among its many wonderful qualities (anime cutscenes WITH voices, engaging and fun dual battle systems, lovely settings, haunting music), I'd like to point out its novella story for its ability to absorb. There are long scenes of just story development in the game, and I never tired because the story had such a hold upon me. The twists begin surprisingly quickly and never let up. For the mere creation of this game's universe, Square deserves great acclaim.

What a great game! The story is involving and the battle system is one of the best. Fighting as giant robots is just too much fun! The animation style has been critcized but I find it's perfect for the Gears. They look great! Sure, after being spoiled by the marvelous graphics of Final Fantasy VIII, this game looks a little dorky, but the engrossing and intelligent story line makes up for that entirely. Blood n' guts this ain't, but there are plenty of challenging battles. The pleasant musical score is a plus. Some mature themes, a little profanity, and a mixed message about alcoholism might make this unsuitable for the younger set, but overall it's a fine game for adults who like thoughtful RPG's.

One of the best RPGS ever created ....period

And it's true too. This IS one of the best, if not THE best, rpg/rpgs ever created.

Luckily for me, I bought this game right when it hit the shelfs ;) . I think the only way you can get one is by buying it from someone or getting it off an auction.

Anyway, the story is amazing. It's preety confusing at first, but if you REALLY pay attention you should understand it. But this game is for people 13+ years old, because younger kids would never get this story. But like i said, it is amazing and it is written perfectley.

The gameplay is very fun. The battles, unlike the final fantasy series, are very fun to play. You get to use combos, magic, etc. etc. etc. You press triangle for weak attack, square for medium attack, and x for strong attack. Its great. Most rpgs just have an attack command an stuff.

The graphics is where this game lacks. They aren't bad, but it just isn't good either. The people look very blurry when the camera gets really close, but 90% of the time the camera is in its normal angle.

Buy this game if possible its great
