This game makes me wonder how I could have spent so much time playing spy hunter when I was twelve. Everything about the game play is so realistic. Your car even jumps a bit when there are small bumps in the road. THe liscences are challenging enough to keep you occupied while trying to get them, but not so hard as to meke you want to give up. I wish there were more rally and endurance races available but there is still enough gameplay to keep me occupied for several hours.
In a word, MAGNIFICENT

The title says it all. GT was fantastic and spent 100's of hours playing it! GT2 is even better....better tracks, better cars, better sounds, better graphics...it's just BETTER all round. The rally racing is excellent too!

This has to be the best racing game i've ever played. I'll admit, I hated the first GT. The lisense tests were really hard, and the control was extremely difficult. But, it seems like that in GT2 the lisense tests are much easier. I got 5 of 6 lisenses in two days. The rally racing is also really cool. The custom tuning of the cars is amazing. My only complaint is that the comptition isn't true. I was racing a 150 HP Nissan Infinity and I was being beaten by a 63 HP Cooper. And another thing, why do the songs keep repeating themselves. I've only heard STP, Garbage, Soul Coughing, and Rob Zombie. What about Beck and Moby. Other than these small prblems, It is the best racing game and it will always be the best racing game.

This is by far the best racing game I have ever played on a home console, or anywhere for that matter. I have spent over 15 hrs. with it already and the game tells me that I am only .105% done with it. This game puts me in heaven. The only other game that comes close to matching it's sheer brilliance is the original Gran Tourismo. You owe it to yourself as a gamer to rush out and buy this game, or order it on Amazon. Stop reading these reviews and just buy it!
Best GT title out.

It edges GT3 by a bit. Though the graphics arn't exactly PS2 quality (obviously), it's the most addicting game I've every played on PSOne.
The graphics are great (for a PSOne game realesed in 1999). The sounds, car SFX and soundtrack, are pretty cool. The gameplay is fun, yet manages to be realistic. A perfect balance.
I highly recommend GT2 to anyone with a PSOne or PS2.
Back in my day........

This is a great and realistic game. Only thing you need with it is a steering wheel and foot pedals. They are a must if you want to enjoy this game properly. Many people have sung the praises of this game, and I cannot top that. A couple of things bug me about it, though. Things that didn't carry over from GT1. First, the license tests are dumbed down so that anyone with a learner's permit can eventually get the super license (kiddy prizes for making enough attempts get you through). Second, there is no option to qualify for position in a race. Starting from the front row is completely different from starting mid-pack, or from the rear (plus you don't get the pole position bonus like in GT1). Overall a great game, and a worthy successor to GT1; but GT2000 will have to remember its roots better. This is not a game for the faint-at-heart, or those who don't take it seriously. Steep learning curve scares away amateurs, leaving room for racing fanatics to enjoy.
If you're a racer , you'll need this game !

Wow! This game is 10 times better than gt1. Tons of cars and tracks, it kept me playing for hours. Probably to long actually. The game play is a little tought to master but with practice you should be able to get the hang of it. The simulation mode is the best. Not like most racing games that you are done with when you finish 10 races. There are almost that many newly added endurence races. (Some of which can take 2 hours) I have spent many nights up playing this. If you are only going to get on playstation game this would be my choice
Great Racing!

This game has a few things that I don't like in it compared to GT1. Like the Horsepower limit (if your car has over a certain horsepower you can't enter it). I mean how fun was it to blow away C class cars in your racing class Dodge Viper. But I like this game a lot better. The soundtrack kicks! And it has many more American cars! The graphics are amazing! I can squint during replays and swear i am watching a car commercial
I thought it was great

Unlike the other reviews I found GT2 to be a great sequal. I have a PSX for one reason only and that is the driving games. Since I bought this the only reason I have even looked at GT is to watch the opening video. The license tests are not that difficult and can easily be taken care of in a day (and they actually make you a better driver) and the cars and tracks are amazing. The only gripes I have is that the garage is limited to 100 cars. I mean how you decide, sell the 526 horse 'mild' Supra or the 450 horse Challenger. I guess it is a good thing I have many millions to spend on another one. If you are even thinking about this game go get it and you will love it!
