I've always been a fan of the Final Fantasy series, and this game makes no exceptions. From the end of disc 1 to the end of the game, the story has that unyielding FF quality, rich with plot twists and discoveries that make you want to play more and more. The graphics are the better than its predesessors, and (despite my what I thought as a first impression) I found myself really enjoying the characters. They are creative and new. It was a refreshing change to have the main character more optimistic and funny, rather than a serious lone wolf whose main line is "..."
The sidequests left something to be desired, however. But there are secret bosses and mini games and things to collect, but not as much as FF6 or 7. I found the antagonist...different and I was at first dissatisfied, but it gets really cool. I won't give away any secrets though.
FF9 is a great game. Get it if you like rpgs and the series. You won't be disapointed.
A must have for a true playstation gamer.

All of the Final Fantasy games are great. I really liked the FFIII game beacause of the way you can increase your stats just by junctioning something. FFIX does'nt really have this advantage but it is still a great game. Go buy this game!

While this game doesn't start you off with a "bang" it does certainly welcome you with a beautiful intro. I can go on and on about the graphics but you can see for yourself if you decide to rent or buy the game. Like the other Final Fantasy games that has appear on playstation, this game also has mix reviews leaving many wandering if they should buy the game. I say rent it first. For me, I loved the graphics, the storyline, character design ( I just love that SD look!), the characters, and the music of course. But the SD look and the lack of freedom this game offers may turn off alot of fans. So do yourself a favor and rent it! You might actually fall in love with this romantic game.

They say that FF 9 was supposed to be the best FF ever, i don't totally agree with them. Instead of battleing with 3 characters you battle with 4 and it causes some slow down so it takes a little long for your character to attack. But as all ways the story is all ways good and square will all ways amaze me with the CG cut scenes. The game took me a good 70 hours to beat that including taking time to finish the mini games getting all the ultimate weapons and building up charaters. Instead of bringing back Triple Traid from FF 8 the came up with a new game called Quad Mist the card game is totally diffrent from Triple Traid so i advise going on a web site with a Quad Mist FAQ because the game is pretty hard to understand. In conclusion FF 9 is a well developed RPG but not square's best, I think they rushed it out a little to fast so they can get it out on the market. I do recomend FF 9 and if your going to buy any more RPG's i also recomend xenogears i'll be posting a review there soon so make sure to check it out.

Okay...personally, I didn't like the idea of FF9 going back into the medeival times, but when I played this game, it became one of my most favourite games. I'd say it isn't as realistic as FF7 or FF8, but it sure beats them with it's stunning CG cinemas (FMV's) and it's breathtaking storyline. However, FF7 having a better storyline, this game still beats it with it's more complex system of abilities, eidolons, and the more seemlessly more complex characters then ever before. Also, this game also answers the question, what do I do now??? Now, Square added in the exclamation mark (!) and the question mark (?) above the characters head when something important is spotted, or a decision must be made. Well...overall, this game is definitely a must for any gamer who has played, or who hates Final Fantasy to love the series more, or just to completely go insane for it...this game is definitely a must....
Hands down, the best so far

FF IX brings back the best of the old school (i.e. the little black mage with the pointy hat - yea!) and improves on it. Truly the best of the old and new. The ability-learning system is less complex than all the junctioning ... in FF VIII, but somehow more rewarding - I think cuz it's involving enough to be interesting, without taking more time to rearrange your stuff than it takes to actually play the game (a la FF VIII). The characters are great, the storyline is wonderful, the graphics are awesome (back to the oddly proportioned people, but way cleaner than FF VII)! I've enjoyed this one way more than the last two. Absolutely addictive ("just a little further and I'll turn it off, I swear"). If you're a fan of RPG at all, you'll love this game!
Great

FF7 was great, FF8 was ok, and again, another great FF, and it is FF9! FF9 grabs your interest and holds it until the very last letter on the credits screen. The story is very deep and detailed, and the battle system is decent. The characters are lovable. Overall, this is a great FF game. But still, it's a tough battle between 9 and 7 on the best.
My favorite game ever.

This is my favorite Final Fantasy, and video game period, of all time. The unique designs, loveable characters, imaginative worlds, wonderful storyline, and small bit of humor combine in the greatest work ever. The ending filled me with an immense feeling of joy, which was a nice departure from the somewhat sad, yet moving, endings of many ffs. The ending wasn't sad, even though you will cry, but it was so beautiful. GET IT NOW!!!!
