The game is just amazing. The story line runs along very smoothly and the ATB system is not a hard thing to learn. It looks childish in the start due to the fact the characters look short and act a little immature, but it is a great game recommended to everyone. You shouldn't be disappointed.

As a person who has played Final fantasy since the original way back when, I personally liked IX because it takes the franchise back to its roots. It has a more traditional storyline and battle system. This scaling back is an overall theme for IX. Unlike its two predescessors, IX is a simple fun adventure.
Great graphics for its time, though its definately showing its age. IX definatley has some of the more interesting character designs. Vivi, the black mage, is definately my favorite. Character design has been a bit of an issue for some gamers, as they expect seriousness like what was seen in VII an VIII. IX breaks with that with its cartoonishness. Personally I found that refreshing.
If you are a fan of FFIV and FFVI, please pick this up.

This was a great game and took the Final Fantasy series in a different direction than recent games along the series. The game feels (and looks, without the pixelation) like the first few FF games.

As with all FF games, FFIX provides hours and hours of game play. Although the replay value is not so high (as the story is linear), the game itself takes a very long time to beat. The world map feature in this is game is really where its at. When you set out to explore the continents, the game looses its linear feel (which is a good thing in my opinion). The graphics in this game are bar none - AMAZING for the playstation 1, and no, not just the pre rendered cinematics. This entire game looks amazing, and plays the same. If you like RPGs, this is a must have.
My ffix flew the coupe.

If you like rpg's, you should like this game. It's not as good as ff 7, but nothing is. Its much better than ff 8, although it is a little more "cartoony" than i prefer. I was just glad I was able to find it here.

I like this RPG. I love the character design and the music. I like the ending a lot. I think Square Enix should create more kidlike characters.

I'm a fan fo RPG games, and even after playing other RPGs with greater technology, this one came to be one of my favorites, if not the coolest RPG I have ever played.
Would recomend it to anyone.

This was a great game. I loved the story, I loved the gameplay, and I loved...the imagery. A lot of people think graphics and story must somehow compete with each other. The truth is that the two should coexist and help each other. Zidane swinging to the rescue the queen wreaking havoc with her new found power and-my personal favorite-the ominous childhood memories of a dark destructive storm with...well I'll let you play the game. but these things all tell the story in a way that text could not easily do.
I will give the game a few minuses. The ending is a bit long, contrary to what others have said I found FFVIII to be a bit more challenging(advanced character customization doesn't automatically make a game easy), and the last boss was challenging in an annoying way-there is a random element that make or break the fight based on pure chance.
All in all this might well end up being my favorite game in the series(a replay or two will settle that one way or the other.) I have been a fan of the series since the I got the first one for my NES for christmas, so I speak from experience.
Finally...

This game is the much awaited sequel to Final Fantasy VI (buy the Anthology and VII too). It goes back to that tradition that captivated the hearts of thousands, but it does it with superb FMV sequences and a few new tricks. And don't even compare it to FFIX. Buy this game NOW!
Awesome!

This game is awesome! I love the "movie scenes" and the character animation much more than FF8. The only two things I didn't like about this game were the summoning of eidelons and the strategy guide. The fact that a good portion of it is online is just a big pain in the *bleep*. At first I did find it more difficult that FF8 but after I got the hang of it I loved it! At least rent it and give it a chance...or buy it at a store where you can return it in a week to ten days if you don't like it.
