What have I to say. A truly beautiful game. Even though I still like TR1, I throughly enjoyed this game. The only problems I would have to address are during some of the cutscenes, the voices skip and you don't hear everything, and the controls take a while to get used to, but other than that, I do believe it's worth it.

Okay, personally, I liked what I played of the game. I've played it occasionally with my friend and I used to be a Tomb Raider Addict, I had all of them and only ever beat Chronicles because of the vast amount of cheats that were helpful. Now, AOD is a pretty good game, but I agree with most when saying it's not as great as it could've been. I really loved her new outfit, and the fact that she was framed for the murder. The plot was very intruiging (sp?). The only thing I had a GIGANTIC problem with was the controls. Firstly, I WANT THE D-PAD BACK! I had trillions of problems playing with those horrific controls. And switching the jump and role button *vomits* bad mistake. Now people will keep getting confused unless AOD is the player's first TR game. I honestly WILL buy it when I get my own PS2, but my favourite games are Chronicles and TR 2 out of them all. Maybe if AOD had her home in it, and a new obstacle course, it would've been better. Also, I hate that strength thing, I miss her being able to hang for as long as you want, it creates for a crappy game. But those are the only flaws I found. I loved the rest of the game, and the option to run around and do your own thing. I will buy the game and hopefully this review helped to forwarn people about the possibly confusing new handeling of Lara Croft. Have fun playin AOD! I suggest you buy it ;)
Boringly disappointing

My friends and I have played all the ps1 TR's and really enjoyed the challenges of each one. We liked the second TR best because you could save during it at anytime. This last TR(AOD)was highly disappointing. The puzzles were too easy, the controls too difficult. You spend more time trying to align things up and when you're in a critical part of the game it's frustrating to have to work with a joystick when you have to move quickly or line up for jumps. Trying to coordinate both thumbs to move at the same time to get the right camera angle with the move intended is not fun. Often times we left areas feeling as if there were more to do there because we didn't have enough to do there. The hand symbol popping up to show us there is something there to do or pick up was too easy. We like the hunt. We're age range from 50-70's. We like to explore figure out puzzles and my friend likes to shoot his pistols when he's frustrated. There were none to shoot without losing ammo. I listen to the younger generation talk about playing the TR games and they don't have the patience for it. Most of them use cheat codes to skip levels or get all the ammo or saves they can. We don't like to play that way. We like to play it the way it's intended to be played. We feel that when we have figured out a situation that we've accomplished the creators objective to play the game. We have wondered if someone new created this game because if not then you took 2 steps back guys.
REALLY GREAT!

Okay if you hear anything like "the controls are bad" and "you need to get use to them" just forget about that statement right there because It took me less than 10 minutes to learn them, I dunno maybe the people who said it took like an hour were drunk when playing it, or there just plain'ol bad at playing video games, I was having so much fun! I beat TR: AOD 6 times already, just because different things can happen when you talk to people either nice, rude, or without care! The graphics are sweet! The 180 different animations Lara has is sweet too! Trust me when, you start climbing those rocks, you feel like your doing it too! This game has the best story line I have ever seen a game, and the last stage, boss, and movies will keep you gripping onto your seat! Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness is a great game! Pic up your copy today!!!

I have been a Tomb Raider fanatic ever since the first game. I have enjoyed all the Tomb Raider games for PS1. I have mastered the "clunky control" that others have complained about. I have lost sleep and days off from work just to dwell deeper into each adventure......then Lara Croft Tomb Raider "The Angel of Darkness" was released....I literally ran to the store so I can be the proud owner of Lara on PS2.....what a mistake.....to even call this a "Tomb Raider" game is an insult....this game is so god awful I can barely play it....the controls are worse than the PS1 games, the graphics are cartoonish, and the story line is decent if that. I am hoping that Lara did commit the murders in the story line so they arrest her and throw away the key to the Tomb Raider franchise and save the general public from more Tomb Raider abuse. Why do they even call it Tomb Raider if she is not in a Tomb or anything that slightly resembles a tomb?.....I would only suggest that you rent it and not buy it as I did and get ripped off. Here is the advice I give Eidos....re-do the original Tomb Raider just like Capcon did with the original Resident Evil, then just maybe they will have a good game.....run like hell from Lara The Angel Of Darkness!!
Not the best

This is nothing like the original games. The graphics are nice in fact they are too nice for the playstation2 because it locks up all the time. The controls are not that difficult like everybody says they are though. I have one reccomendation for those who like action adventure games and that is to buy INDIANA JONES AND THE EMPEROR'S TOMB. INDY ALL THE WAY!

There will be some people who have to have this game and that's okay. Let those 3 people sit and torture themselves while you could be playing something else. This game doesn't seem finished. There are so many glitches and bugs in this game that it's a chore to play. It's a miracle if you can get Laura to do what you want on the first try. There are those of you who are saying you like a challenge. Go play GT3 and shoot for 100% completion. That's a challenge. The only saving grace for this game is the story. The story is told rather well and that's where my 1 star comes from. I guarantee this game will hit the bargain bin faster than you can say huge disappointment. Trust me. You'll be happier saving the $40. You're not missing much.

Ms. Croft has done it again. With new combination of the old games and a twist of Metal Gear Solid, Tomb Raider fans have hit a new mark and entered a new level of gaming. This is a great story and its fun to see the new harder, Lara Croft.
Looks like a great game but could be better

When i first heard about this game i was really excited and wanted a copy right away but after a while you notice that the control style is clanky and still has some bugs to work out.
There are some good qualities though, like graphics for instance are a lot better than the first time lara set out in a tomb. Another good quality is the story line, unlike the other games where you just look for a certain artifact, in this game, however, you are outrunning the law after being frammed while trying to stop an evil cult organization from taking over the world. I also like the fact that there is a new male character to choose from.
The bad qualities include controls, sometimes it is so hard to grab a simple object on a shelf or something because you have to line up perfectly just to grab it or lining up for a jump is hard. The camera views can get annoying too, like for instance i couldnt see what was in front of me and i had to make a few steps to finally make it move. Also the enemy AI is bad too, some enemies will run into walls and not notice you, some just wiggle around at you and some are dumb enough not to attack you when you are two inches away.
This game isnt that good but if you really want to try i suggest renting it rather than buying it.
