Lara has jumped to the next generation, and what a jump!

1. While the PSone sequels introduced little in innovation or originality, this PS2 version looks to revive the series.

2. The graphics have definitely made the jump to next-generation...for the screenshots.

3. Lara uses moves taken almost directly from Metal Gear Solid 2 to stealthily approach and take out the unsuspecting guards.

4. This game will be a lot darker than the past games and its storyline will be far more complex.

5. Unlike past games, a majority of this sequel isn't spend down in dimly-lit tombs. Lara will actually get to explore Paris from the surface.

6. See Lara adapt to how you play the game.

7. Get rewards for puzzle solving and exploration (including physical rewards like strenght)

8. Talk to other characters, but be careful, because how you talk to people and what you say to them will affect you till the end of the game.

Is Lara Croft the Angle of Darkness in this new action game? We won't know untill it comes out. All I know is they got some sick ... graphics. I also know that this game will be a lot more like MGS,(Metal Gear Solid). Not that MGS is a bad game, but it won't be the same Lara. In this game, there will be sneaking around, breaking guard's necks, and endless danger with so many traps, and malicious pursuers that you'll be afraid to take your next step! After you play this game, you will be dreaming of Lara Croft all night long, if you know what I mean! This Tomb Raider is going to be a lot darker than the past games, and its storyline will definitly be far more complex!

Let's face it,everything changes,and the Tomb Raider series is no different.TR:AOD puts you in the familiar shoes of Lara Croft once again,but her days of raiding tombs have passed.However,this is a good thing,the series began to lose it's "must have" value after the third installment and people probably bought the fourth Tomb Raider simply because of familiarity with the series,despite that each sequel only shoveled out the same uninspired plots and moves...*yawn*.

Angel of Darkness is Eidos way of breathing new life into Lara and the game boasts an impressive amount of new features for our sexy heroine.Such as a stonger storyline,which will(pardon the pun)blow you away!Action wise,Lara still retains her classic moves,but now there have been major additions such as stealth(think Metal Gear Solid only much better to look at)and with the enhanced PS2 graphics it all looks VERY COOL!Lara's movements are now more fluid,thanks to the new game engine,she can now even fight hand to hand.The new characters are well varied,no more tigers,bears,and such,but trust me there will be creatures of sorts.You get to play as a new character also,Kurtis Trent)which breaks up the monotony of running around solving puzzles which,by the way,you get rewarded for solving now with a boost in strength(still have to move things),lung capacity(yep,still swimming),agility(climbing),and running and jumping.The game will be a stunner because it takes the aspects which made the series such a hit and adds better graphics,gameplay,story,and characters.Tomb Raider:Angel of Darkness is a must have game especially for those who remained loyal to the earlier series despite the humdrum gameplay.This makes the wait all worthwhile.

I wasn't too thrilled about this game since the series has grown quite stale lately. I love Tomb Raider and Tomb Raider 2, but after that they got worse and worse. I decided to buy this game and it is awesome. The movements is so much better than previous games and the background is gorgeous. It was cool to go into a dance club and turn on the music and rome around in there. You also can interact with different people and what you say can change the overall outcome of the game. This game is a cross between Tomb Raider, Medal Gear Solid, and Resident Evil. You can go into stealth mode and sneak up to people and you don't need to hit action to climb things. You also can build your strength as the game moves on so areas you once couldn't reach, you can later in the game. This is a must for anyone who used to like the Tomb Raiders series or maybe you just like adventure games. I love this game. It has a fresh feel to it.

ive played all the tomb raider games and i love them all and ive finished playing and i find myself wanting to play more lara croft its the adventure, its the different enemys, the surroundings of these games are breath taking,you just want to keep on playing , its the best games eidos ever made,get the collection of tomb raider you wont regret it, allthough i must say the games are more for older people,than young ones , teenagers like 14 and up are ok . it depends on what you allow your kids to play, i havent played angel of darkness i cant wait till it comes so i can play and finish too,i am very excited , if your addicted to playing tomb raider games and love them youll know what i mean.tomb raider games are the bomb!!!!

Hard to get but worth it

Only place that had this game was EB Games, I called everywhere today June the 20th 2003. Decided to buy the PS2 version because of upgrade problems we had in the past with the PC versions of Tomb Raider and so we could watch the new graphics on our big screen TV.

Pros:

Love the way Lara automatically will start holding onto ledges etc. and climbing poles, etc. Also cool new Monkey swing and last chance grab even after you have fallen.

Cool hand-to-hand take downs, Lara looks awesome doing them. It's about time.

Very very cool way that you can go into stealth mode, press the action button and when you slide along the wall up to a corner Lara will look around while keeping her body hidden, way cool!

Cool new tuck when pulling yourself along hand over hand going from one roof top to another on a rope.

Love the cool way she draws and holsters her pistol front under her left front side of her jacket.

Supporting characters are much better looking then in the past and look just as good as Lara her self.

Last but not least of course the graphics right down to the little side to side hip movement Lara makes when standing still and the way her breasts bounce lightly when you jump.

Cons:

Having to gain strength as you play.

Holding on to a ledge you have a very limited time before Lara tires and soon loses her grip.

I HATE the way you control Lara when moving forward and backward. You have to switch from forward to backward pressure on the left analog stick depending on whether Lara is in front or behind you. Very confusing compared to the old, forward is forward, back is back.

Having to decide what to say in conversations and having the game play depend on it, I just want to play.

NO Pistols or ammo starting out, sure miss those pistols, and when you do find one, it's empty, then you only find a 12 round magazine for a long time, conversie your ammo. Make sure you don't miss the pistol the first areas.

We wanted to play Lara, not Kurtis, some people might like playing other characters but not us.

Conclusion:

The game is worth the purchase price just to use the cool new features and to look at Lara and the wonderful animations. Game play is ok.

Well let me start be saying Iv been waiting for Tomb to come out for ps2 pretty long now and finnaly my wish has came true!At first when I looked at the back of the cd case I though it was nothing special but when I turned my ps2 on and when I started to play the game I was blown away.The graphic was pure and perfect on the level of metal gear solid. The gameplay is awsome.Also I dont get how come so many people complain about the controls I got the hang of the controls in 15 min.People there are games that have tough controls but this is too easy the only people that might have troubles with the game is some kids but im 14 and its all great for me.Iv played the game and I beat the game with no problems. I barely had any gliches in the game the only thig that it did was slowing down in some parts but only in SOME parts not everywhere.The weapons are great and I like the vector but what I had prob with is getting the two pistols I only had one through out the game that was a prob.Eidos really made a great game two thumbs up for them Angel Of Darkness is a game to get if u dont want to get it then rent it then u will fall in love with the game. The only thing I can say is get this game because TOMB RAIDER ANGEL OF DARKNESS IS THE BEST TOMB RAIDER THERE IS RIGHT NOW ITS AWSOME AND REALLY FUN!!!!

This game is worth the wait! I know it seems to be taking a while, because they keep on delaying the release, but I know people of high standards, and i've played it. It doesn't matter how wmuch they delay it. It is about the most solid action adventure game out there. And those wanting to have a game that's a shooter, but still has a good story, this is perfect for for you. This game is awesome!! Also, another character is released (that you can play as) is Kurtis Trent. He's awesome too. I would seriously get this game, unless you have no taste. Lara Croft is back and ready for action!!

I am fed up with all of this criticism on Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness. Since the first ever Tomb Raider release, back in 1996, I've been a fan of the game, and because of that I ignored some flaws on the Tomb Raider movie. (Should I expect more from the 2nd installment?)
Tomb Raider games always offered loads of fun, killing all sorts of things from plants to T-Rexes, exotic locations and mysterious objects, this game is no different, but the far fetched plots are `almost` gone. I agree whith every single person that this game's controls are difficult, but in no time, you'll be able to do some new acrobacies!
It's been 8 years that Lara Croft has been an icon in the video game era, and it should remain on that spot for a long time. Of course I just hope the next games (Eidos and Core has promissed a trilogy) don't be delayed too much, but oh well, it will be worth the wait.
