It's a new look and attitude for her. Now, she even kicks some tail in this, instead of just shotting them. She has came a long way from TR1 and read that maybe we'll get TR7&8!. Wonder what she'll be up to then....
Tomb raider is awsome!!!!!!!!

This game has two sides, some people either like it or hate it.I for one think its really good. The controls are differrent, but you will get used to it.This game is sort of hard though, but still fun.Dont expect to be so good and finish it quick, it wasnt for me.I hihgly seggest you buy the strategy guide.I have it and it is still pretty tough.I think you should rent it first. (really)If you do buy it ,get it pre-played(40.00)All in all its a good game.
Controls are a little unpredictable

Tomb Raider is fabulous in its conception of puzzle solving. I was hooked even though frustrated by unpredictable control of Lara's jumps and climbing abilities. Well, at least the problem of walking off ledges was addressed by a special key. Angela Joli's voice is used in the game. That was impressive. There are a few serious glitches that seem to be on every game. I know that because the strategy guide mentions it. I did not expect to get more than half way through the game, however, and hit a fatal glitch that stopped me in my tracks. A bit of bad luck. By the way, the game is immense in length so I probably did get my moneys worth. I really wanted to finish the game and I guess that's a good recomendation. I would buy a sequel.
Don't buy this game!!!!

So bad you would think it was a cheap knockoff designed by malnourished child slave laborers shackled to chop shop computers in a crowded, lightless sweatshop in China, and all they could manage with the outdated technology they had to work with was something that looks remarkably like a Tomb Raider game--just enough so that people might be fooled into buying it off a blanket spread on a Manhattan or Seoul sidewalk for $5.
I bought mine in Circuit City in Union Square, from the clearance bin. I don't remember how much I paid for it, but as it was not free it was far too much.
But if this is your one and only try at a Tomb Raider game, don't abandon it thinking this is representative of the series. If you want a great game that's increadibly challenging and interesting, you want any of them but this. Tomb Raider I, II, and III were not so hot in my book, but the first one I played was Tomb Raider IV--which is the most challenging of them all. From that one they get more and more sophisticated in terms of the technology and graphics--except for the Angel of Darkness of course. Some are easier to play, some extremely challenging, but they're all great with this one exception.
I pretty much bought a Playstation just to play Tomb Raider initially, and if this had been my first game I definitely would have given away the player or thrown it in the trash.
Laura is back and better than ever

I'm a huge Tomb Raider fan. I was anticipating the release of this game, little did I know it was the most pitiful of the Tomb Raider series.
Graphics--
There were times when I saw the insides of her face when angling the camera right.
The biggest problem would be that this game was created on a block grid. That's terrible for a PS2 game, especially when you're forced to use the analog stick which leaves you with less control over the character.
It all depends on the angle of the camera when you jump. If you set the camera towards the characters feet, s/he'll jump farther than you need him/her to. When you have it set above him/her, s/he won't jump as far no matter the upgrade.
There were tons of glitches. I remember this one time when I'm standing still, then all of a sudden I'm floating to the sky. Sometimes your enemy wont transform to the "adult stage" which sucks because you need that to happen so you can move on. Many of my friends swap similar glitching stories. And if you're not careful, the game can skip a level.
Gameplay--
It's definitely not worth playing if it's THAT hard to control the character.
It would be more fun if the manual was correct; Switching targeted enemies is not the triangle button, and switching targets is crucial towards the conclusion of the game.
You have to upgrade your strength. This was a hassle because you can easily miss your opportunity to upgrade and be stuck somewhere for hours.
It takes more than 2 seconds to pull your weapon from the holster and 2 more seconds to shoot. Hand-to-hand combat is just not worth it because it takes even longer. Talk about a slow reaction.
Story--
I wont spoil anything. I've read tons of reviews from the creator on the official Tomb Raider site, and on other game sites. They admit to not finishing their game. They were rushed for time. And it shows. You actually have to collect more items to fit the story (You have to collect 5 paintings but in the game, you only collect 1.) So you'd be right in assuming the run time is short.
It doesn't pick up from where Tomb Raider IV left off. It leaves you wondering.
I didn't get a bad copy of the game. It's all copies of Tomb Raider The Angel of Darkness. I have three copies, and played a rented one. They all suck.
YUCK!

A total waste of time and money. Not even worth the time to mention all the pros and cons. Few pros and lots of cons. Save your money.
Despite the Bad Reviews............

........This game was good. I thought the sense of freedom was well done and was an improvement from the other games. For all you people not rating this fairly because you don't really "raid" anything, Lara Croft:Tomb Raider is her title. Now that I have that cleared up, let's move on. The Angel of Darkness focuses on Lara being caught in the middle of grisly murders and is on the run. One thing I liked is that you can choose what to say, and that really made the game re-playable for me, to see what would happen if I was mean/rude.I only paid $10 for this game, so I can't say it wasn't worth my money. But if you bought this game for$50, you will be a bit dissapointed in this game.
