awesome but FF7 still the best

This game definatly keeps up the series standards of high quality rpg gaming. its got a great storyline and a very good cast of main characters. The only main thing that i didnt like about the game was that i found it too easy...some people say its hard but i think it depends on how much experience you have with the series. and also while it does have alot of depth and you can cram alot of hours into this game, you do have to be careful because you can find yourself near the end of the game rather quickly as alot of the games storyline and sidequests are hidden and its best you explore alot instead of trying to rush through it to find out what happens next. the graphics at the point the game came out were unheard of simply beautiful and even now the graphics are rarely matched...the sound is good and i definatly like the way you level up on the sphere grid. like every time you play a new FF game you think to yourself why change an already good leveling sytem....but after an hour or so you adjust to it. anyone who is looking for a great game should definatly buy this for that matter should buy any ff title....even if the older ones graphics are outdated now the experience of the games stories more than makes up for it. I recommend FF7 its the best of the bunch on the playstation FF8 being the worst (i think its only 7/10).

it is a really good game and definately worth buying, it took about 25 hours to beat with out doing all of the secret stuff. it had a great story and awesome graphics but it lacked freedom, there weren't enough things to explore until the end of the game.

Is Final Fantasy jaded?...

...Not quite, but the game still feels like it has just a slightly different twist on new ideas. Maybe I'm just getting jaded, but for this reviewer it gets to stretched and tired before it ends. More so than FF9, and that game is SUPPOSED to feel like the storyline is a mix of 1-8. The game is still of quality though, and has it's strong points.

Good:
*graphics- blurring gets overdone sometimes, but will always be a nice-looking game.
*battle and leveling up system- refreshingly more strategic turn based system thats more enjoyable than majority of FF games, and sphere grid strikes a great balance between customize characters to your like, yet making sure there characters are different (unlike FF6-8)
*sound- not the best soundtrack, but still of high calibur. Plus the main 'love theme' (bleh) is left in Japanese, so no disgustingly sentimental lyrics.

Not So Good:
*story- outside of a couple of good twist, which I'll admit I didn't see coming, is one of the most uninspired yet.
*voice acting- lips don't match AT ALL, and (besides the actors for Wakka and Auron who are entertaining) voice actors are either bad, annoying, or saying their lines in an unrealistic fashion. *sigh*
*plot points- sometimes it takes too long telling the story, when you just wish you could save and quit. Also hurts replay value.
*linear fashion- not exactly a terrible thing, console rpg's are not exactly about exploring, but not being able to go anywhere you want or do most ANY of the sidequests til vert near the end is annoying.

Overall, however, this is a good game none the less. After FF9, which I found to be possible the funnest FF if not the best, I was somewhat disappointed. For $20 bucks though, everyone should at least try Squaresoft's well crafted world they've created here.

Don't mix up the two games

FFX vs ATL

No doubt this game has awesome graphics, gives hell lot of fun, after you start it, it is difficult to put down.

There are some aspects of the game I dont like, so I had to give two stars for all the irritation I had to go through.

* Enemies appear every three/four steps you take. This is irritating. There is no easy way to stop random enemies from appearing.

* It seems like I am playing the game as the developer wanted and not as I want to play. Again, I am talking about the random enemies appearing every three or four steps you take.

* It is fun to beat the enemies, but there is a limit. The total time I would have wasted "fleeing" from the enemies would have been more than the time I spent on boss fights.

I was not a huge fan of RPGs until I played the game "Arc the lad: Twilight of the spirits". I feel that "Arc the lad" is more clearly thought out, than FFX.

The things I liked in Arc the Lad:

* I go and fight the monsters, when I want to do it, and where I want to do it.

* In FFX, I was not able to find a way to traverse between two locations. Example: Besaid and Zanarkand. I found it hell easier with Arc the lad.

I played both the games for more than 100 hours each, frankly, I did not get the satisfaction with FFX as I got with Arc the Lad. I played FFX for the heck of completing it and throwing the game out of my window.

If you are thinking about buying this game, believe me, this game is not worth it. Get yourself "Arc the lad: Twilights of the spirits", you will have hours of fun.

Mixed Feelings

I should confess right now that this is the first ever FF game I've played, and it started out great. The story was great. The Sphere Grid system was probably the coolest method of character development I've ever seen. Plus, the great graphics nearly sealed the deal.

The game is not without it's problems, though. The game suddenly gets extremely difficult really fast. The voice acting was pretty bad (especially for Tidus). Plus, I think the blitzball mini-game was really poor.

All in all, this game wasn't the greatest, but not the worst. I would really recommend it to veterans of the series.

Could have been better, Could have been worse

This game is a lot better than Final Fantasy x-2. It has a VERY interesting story and AAAAAAWESOME graphics!!! Some parts were too easy, and some were hard. But I definitely think you should buy this game! Its worth the money. And at times can be very addicting.
