I'm an avid game player and this game has cornered all my video game time. The gameplay is 10 times better than the original Diablo. The only downside to this game is that you can get caught up in it and lose track of days!

You would think with the time it took this game to come out they could have improved the graphics a little more than they did, but NO. It is the just a modified version of their lame role playing system that is just the old Tunnels and Trolls game system put out in the early 80's. They should have learn from other CRPG games that try and work similar to popular pen and pencil RPGs but they didn't. Wow, 5 characters instead of 3. Oh a tech tree for skills--never heard that before. Three words sum up this game...click, click click.

Good, bad and ugly

Graphics are acceptable, sound is nice, gameplay is addictive. However, the game falls short of creating the tension and atmosphere of Dialbo(1).

Overall - good for playing once (at least for those amoing us who are not "hardcore" on-line players).

The only thing better than Diablo 2 is the Diablo 2 Expansion Pack, Lord of Destrucion. Well worth it.

Don't try to play this game online, Battle.net is too flaky

I've played the first Diablo, and I liked that game a lot.

Diablo II is similar. Missing however, is the tactics that some of the bosses used in the first Diablo. These different tactics made certain bosses very difficult to kill, and this really added to the game. In Diablo II, even Diablo himself did not prove very difficult to dispatch.

I got Diablo II because I wanted to play on-line. Battle.net is a huge disappointment. It keeps going down, and the ping rates I get from it are all over the map. One minute I get a ping of 40 (which is ideal), and the next it is 10,000 (which is horrible). When the ping goes over 1000, expect your character to die, and for you to not even see the enemy that killed him/her. There are articles all over the net on this. It is called death by lag. Look into it before you buy this game to play on-line. It makes the game frustrating and not at all enjoyable.

If you are not going to play over the net, then Diablo II by itself would probably get 3 stars, but because Battle.net is so awful, its 1 star, and lucky to get that.

There is really no way you can go wrong for with this game - it's cheap, there is no monthly fee, it will run on almost any computer over any dialup connection, and most importantly its fun. Blizzard knows how to put out a very stable, polished and well thought out product. Even after you've played through 10 times, you will likely find yourself running the game again and again. The game is very simple to learn, but will soon have you combing diabloII.net and other resources to learn of the best builds and strategies.

On a side note, the LOD expansion is almost a must have - it greatly expands the original game.

Fun and challenging

I played the original Diablo on the Mac and this version on a Wintel system. The game is varied and challenging. I tried the Barbarian class and found it to be a lot of simple, zombie smashing fun. If you like action in a fantasy setting Diablo II is a great ride.

not as good as I had hopped!

If you like the battlenet play and the multi player mode you will like the game. I like the single player mode in Diablo and Hellfire and this new game does not save and let you continue to play. Trying new wepons is a nightmare! you get killed you lose all your cool stuff! Hackers need to make a thing to save character and restore it, like they did for Diablo. It is a good game but not if you like collecting the cool armor and trying new stuff. Also the spells are messed up, you are only allowed to use specific ones for each character (this is really stinks! )

Boring as crap

One thing that bothers me about this game is it gets really boring, really fast. It takes relatively no time to finish the game, and within a few days you've already played through all 5 classes. I tried playing multiplayer with my roomate, and it still is boring really fast, not to mention how laggy it was. I was personally astounded at the price it was listed for at home, 60 bucks. That's way more than I wanna pay for a game, especially one that loses my interest so quickly.

If you're borrowing this game, then I would suggest playing it until you get bored with it, otherwise, don't waste the money.
