Terrific

The play is worlds above the original Diablo format. You
will find surprises with every large level, and not be hung up
to repeat and repeat if you can think about your strategic choices of action. (When there are too many to attack, JUMP from
the scene to stay alive.) or whatever. We're looking forward
to the next installment.

Great game

This game kicks ass. The only thing I don't like about this game is that they are so dang strict on maphacks.............arrgh.

anyway, great game, one of Blizzard's best. Heck, all their games rock.

Good, but can get a bit tedious

Diablo 2 is varied in it's aspects, from big barbarians to a guy that makes zombies. It's good that the classes are so varied. This game is truly good calming you down when you are angry. You simply take out your anger on the thousands of monsters in the game. The random area creation keeps you coming back. The downside to this is that it's repittive. It DOES get boring laying waste to hundreds of minions. The multiplayer mode is quite good though because of all the other players to interact with. There are A LOT of different kinds weaponry. This somewhat takes the fun out of getting the "ultimate weapon" though, because ther are a lot of "ultimate weapons." All in all, this game is good enough, but could stand a lot of variety.

Awsome game

Okay, okay. I've bought the game and played it into the ground in the space of 96 hours. It's great. But it is NOT the quantum leap I was expecting.

For all the hooplah the player characters - when running - look skewed; the many new monsters are often bright and cartoonish - cheap and ill-conceived in other words; the repetition of monsters that was at times frustrating in Diablo I is still very frustrating (read: boring); you still ignore most of the (new) magic items as most are not worth the effort, and besides, you end up with so much money you may as well wait for that ONE fabulous item that costs a small fortune.

For all this, I am going to lose much sleep and put up with many an ache and pain from sitting glued to my PC whilst playing Diablo II.

This great game, about your quest to slay the evils of Diablo, if not the game of the year, is one of the games of the year.

Don't listen to what ANYONE else says about this game being "the same thing all over again" or "virtually no improvements visually" They're all wrong. I have been playing Diablo 1 since it came out and I have to tell you, Diablo 2 knocks the socks off of the first.

D2 is NOT the same as the first. Instead of 3 classes there are 5 BRAND NEW entirely different ones. The spell system is new as well. Each charcter has 50 different skills that can be modified at different levels. Thats over 250 completely different spells compared to the 25 that were available to all of the 3 characters in the first. Gameplay is still Hack and Slash, but there are added twists. First off, enemies stick together in groups and work together. The best example of this are the groups of Fallen (those whimpy little demons). In every little group there is a Shaman who can resurrect the memebrs of his group. So instead of charging in index finger clicking you now have to do some planning. There are all new items as well. Not only that but each regular item comes in sever varieties. You can have cracked, damaged, regular, superior and even more varieties of the same weapon. The status effects actually matter as well. This is only the TIP of the tip of the iceberg.

Visually D2 is spectacular. It doesn't resemble the first incarnation at all. The backgrounds are dynamic instead of the monotonous backgrounds that only changed every 4 levels. The backgrounds are immensely detailed as well. The bitmaps for the characters are the ONLY problem visually. They are a notch up from the original but are still slighly blocky. Also the model gets updated for each weapon and piece of armor you equip. And finally, the cinematics can only be described as SPECTACULAR. The Intro looks real. The voices are better as well.

My point is, BUY THE GAME. I am not being hired by Blizzard to publicize this or anything. I'm just a dedicated fan who actually OWNS the game.

A must have....

I finished D2 last night around 2 am, I can tell you that this game kicks! Yeah we all know that it lacks better graphics and it has some trouble with all the patches and glitches, but trust me that once you get to Act 4 and kick some Diablo Butt, you think that it ends there and yes it does until you see the epilogue....and all I can say is that Blizzard Entertainment rules and I commend all the people who made this Diablo series a reality to us role player addicts like myself and now the wait begins for Diablo 3.

Keep up the good work Blizzard!

Well, I recieved this game a couple of days ago at my job, since I was on vacation last week. After 15 minutes installing the game, I fired this puppy up. I can tell you that I was thouroughly amazed. The beginning cutscene is awesome and sets the stage quite well. The game itself is outstanding. The new character classes are awesome and extremely balanced. The gameplay is simple, just like the first Diablo, with some good interface improvements. The running option is a welcome addition. I could drone on and on about all the good things about this game. Get this game! If you haven't gotten this game and you enjoy action/RPG's you don't know what the hell you're missing...

THE BEST GAME EVER!

I received DiabloII as a gift from one of my reatives. I had heard alot about the game before I got it and I loved the first Diablo. But what I saw when I booted up the game for the first time was better than anything I could imagine. The minute I started I was blown away by a fantastic pre-game cinimatic that was a movie in it self. The new story was predictable enough but I don't care. When I started playing I saw graphics that were alot better than the original game. The new character classes are great, but the best thing about this game is actually playing it. It is sooo adictive I've been playing non stop since I got it I've skipped meals, stayed up 'till 4 in the morning an so on and I'm still not done with the game. It's really huge. When I've beaten the single player game. I plan to enter the expansive arena of multiplayer Diablo on Battle.net. I'll be busy with this game for quite a while. I highly recomend this game to anyone who has hacked a monster to death in a slimey, dark dungeon and even to anyone who hasn't.
