Righteous Saviour or Evil Sorcerour? You chose your quest.

Halo 2 and Fable are two of the most-wanted games of 2004 for the X-Box gaming console and for good reason, Fable brings a new meaning to the term Open-Ended game as Elder Scrolls Morrowind 3 did, being able to not only chose your quest and destiney as in ESM3, but you also age which is something that has never been done before in any preious game on any gaming console.
The basic story plot is a basic plot, You're a 6 year old kid and your parents are killed so you grow up chosing your destiney and path, not only growing older but your appearence changes on what choices you make during gameplay.
Graphics are a 10/10 beautiful cinamatics and graphics during gameplay will probably leave you marveling for years to come.
Music is 10/10 given the fact that music composer Danny Elfmen (From the Batman movies) has given his talents to Fable for a brillant musicial touch.
Combat Gameplay is a 10/10 very closely resembles Balder's Gate 1 AND 2 by assigning melee attacks to one button and magic to another.
And Gameplay 10/10 This game will bring a revoulution the gaming market, with its unlimited gaming abliity,Beautiful Graphics, and open-ended story, This will become one of the best games in recent memory and years to come.

Lame

"Over-Hyped" is not the word I'm thinking of. "Rip-off" is more accurate. This game had so much potential, but falls flat in every way. While the new revolution in third-person point-of-view camera work makes you never want to go back to Baldur's Gate, the blatant false advertising that proceeded the release makes a case for Class Action lawsuit. The trailer that is shown on Cinematech has NOTHING to do with the game. There definitely wasn't any consequence for my actions as the makers would have you believe. Good or evil made no difference except you get a halo or horns. Big Whoop. And don't even get me started about the confining story line and the whole two minutes in took to beat the final boss and take the game back to EB.

Lame, lame, lame. The makers should be ashamed.

Rent it if you must. But resist the urge to snap the disc in half at the end.

alas poor yorick you were too short...

This was one of my most anticipated games of the year... to be honest I really enjoyed the game very much, all the character features and scaring is really cool, the only problem is if you listen to the guild master for your quests this game is way too short... and I mean short. I finished the whole game in nine and a half hours... I've heard that there are allot of side quest and other things to do but the actual story is very short... I guess you have to ignore the guild master quests to stretch the game out.

The fighting system is amazingly fun but there isn't really anything which will challenge you; I only died a couple of times and that was usually due to not paying attention to my health... in all a good game but really looses points on being too short. Although I'm going to play it again... Oh and there are no shields, what's with that?

In case you were wondering I have "very" poor hand eye coordination and if I finished this game in under ten hours that means someone if they tried could do it allot faster... five maybe less... thanks for reading.

FABLE IS TOO SHORT

This game showed a lot of promise and I enjoyed playing it until it ended so quickly. I even did side quests and other wandering and still finished the game in 15 hours. It took you five years to develop this small game world? WAY TOO SHORT!!!!!!!! As far as the KOTOR comparisons go, turn-based combat sucks. Now if there were only a way to combine elements of Morrowind, Fable, and KOTOR, then maybe we would have the greatest RPG of all time that was promised.

A FUN ACTION/RPG.

Well this game on its own without all the hype is good, fun ,and good fighting aspect. But it comes up short in the RPG aspect. About 10 to 15 hours depending on how many sidequests you do, to finish the main game. You can Be Evil,Good, or a little mix of both. If your a Fan of RPG'S with more of a free form fighting, this is your game. The graphics arent spectacular but there pretty good. I just wish they wouldv'e made it longer with more options. Like KOTOR or MORROWIND ,those two games seriously raised the bar for RPG'S. But SUDEKI ,highly underrated, Has some really awesome eye candy graphics in the later stages .Well I cant say I love this game and I cant say I hate it. It's not dark enough for me .It seemed a little kiddie like to me. SUDEKI has a darker cooler edge to it. But Fable is an all around good game. Groundbreaking ,not really, but still a good all around RPG. Just don't expect to be blown away ,unless your new to gaming or on the younger side,or maybe this game just fits your style . But I'm a 35 yr old so Think of that when your reading this review. I remember when the paddle game PONG came out in the 70's . we were like whoa dude . Now look at these games they blow my mind . HALO2,DOOM3,SPLINTER CELL 3, I'm can't wait till they hit the XBOX. And what about (KOTOR 2) oh yeah baby come to papa.Anyways ,In conclusion FABLE ,overhyped YES, bad game NO. Just another RPG That's just good fun.

Fable- Certainly one of the surpreme RPGs of our time...

An RPG from the mind of Peter Molyneux, in Fable, the players' every action determines their character's skills, appearances and moralities. Life stories are created from childhood through adulthood and on to old age. Players may choose the paths of righteousness or dedicate their characters' lives to evil; observing as they transform into reflections of their actions and decisions. As players' characters develop, the world reacts to them and their actions. People comment on their successes, failures, appearances and behaviors. Their many opinions are expressed through applause, mockery, trepidation, panic and even flirtation. With each person characters aid and every creature they slay, the world is changed forever. In Fable, gamers decide: "Who will I be?"

Fable is an imaginative game that's got enough remarkable, unique moments in it to make it shine. That many of these moments happen to be good for a laugh is all the better. It's true that the game's high points are not always frequent--its ambitions are evident but not always fulfilled, and the pervasively playful spirit of the game sometimes is mired by convention. These trespasses are more than excusable, though. Regardless of how much time you ultimately spend playing Fable, you're not likely to forget the experience for a long while.

Will you lead a path of virtue and slay the evilness of Albion? Or will you go the path of evil, with darkness sprouting in your heart? The decision is yours in "Fable"...

Weak dudes...

The game is not even out until at least 9/14 and already it has 17 glowing "reviews". Unbelieveable

Fable should have been better than it is. It's not a bad game, but considering that it was supposed to revolutionize the role-playing genre for computers, its ultimately just a slightly above average RPG.

First, the interface is a little difficult. Perhaps if I had the button-pressing skills of a thirteen year old, I might not mind, but at thirty seven, I want my role-playing games to be focused on the story, not how fast I can press the buttons.

Second, there's not a wide selection of enemies. There's probably only about a dozen different types of "critters" to fight. They do have variants among the various types, but they all feel the same.

Third, too many of the "bosses" require a trick to beat them; I expect that from a platform scroller, not an RPG.

Fourth, there's lots of story elements that remind you its game. You have to collect glowing experience orbs to gain experience points for battle victories. That's just silly. You get "Quest Cards", that are referred to as such by character dialogue. Can you imagine Gandalf handing Frodo a card telling him "take the Ring to Mount Doom"? I certainly can't.

There aren't that many Quests, either, and they start to feel the same after a while. And too many of them are combat focused.

There are some nice touches. You can marry (either gender, which I applaud), but, except for one story element, it basically boils down to "yay, you're married."

As others have pointed out, its also quite short: fifteen hours or so to complete the main story in my case.

All that being said, its a fun game, but not the RPG revolution it was supposed to be.

I have been following the progress of this video game for some time now, and the way in which it has expanded and developed on the theme of player control in a video game is quite simply amazing. Indeed, video games in general seem to be branching out to cover vast new areas, in general moving towards becoming a more mainstream medium the equivalent of books or movies. It seems to me that a large portion of this movement is the idea that the player of a particular video game should control his/her gaming experience more than the developer, and, "I have to say, I like it. Games like Black and White, Deus Ex, Grand Theft Auto, etc. have shown that gamers in general appreciate the chance for freedom inside their various virtual worlds, and it is this that leads me to expect great things from Fable. Until then, however, I'll just have to bide my time until Fable hits the shelves-eagerly devouring any new information on the title-in order to make my final judgement.

A Great Addition To Your Xbox Library

Fable is a unique RPG game. Unlike Morrowind or the KOTOR/Jade Empire games, Fable provides more of a bright, vibrant, cartoon like atmosphere. The graphics are rock solid, the story is excellent, and there are actually many special areas and functions that are a blast to play around with. Fans of hardcore old school RPG games may be disappointed as Fable does not provide huge depth in character development, nor does the game provide much more then 30 or so hours of play to finish (short by many RPG standards). However, after the closing credits role when you finish the main game, you can continue playing the game and leveling up indefinitely. I have spent months purchasing real estate, marrying women, getting drunk, and massacring townsfolk to my heart's content. Don't forget to keep looking for those hard to find keys either. Enjoy!

Note: The reviewer below has no idea what he is talking about. True, your character will age throughout the game, but he never dies of "old age". As a matter of fact, age doesn't effect your character in anyway besides looks. Your statistics will never decline.
