Huge game but bad play control

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 2 / 4

I give credit to the people at Nintendo. This is an excellent first generation game. There are just a few things that aren't very good about this game. For one the game control is horrid.Belive me on this one.Just try to make Mario walk in a straight line. The graphics are good when you consider it was one of the first games produced but there are times when you're looking at a wall and Mario's arm is sticking through it that the graphics can get a little bit funny. But this game is huge with many different kinds of enemies and worlds.(think Spyro the Dragon meeting the nintendo.)it's very fun and I would reccomend it for anyone who reallylikes nintendo but it will take you a while to beat it.

actually 4 and a half stars

I've played lots of old games, but not a single one of em' could even hope to match this masterpiece. here are my ratings for the game:

Fun: 10
this game is amazing. There are a bunch of worlds to explore and tasks to do and secrets to find and so much more that I can't go into right now

player age range: 10
anyone who is over the age of, say three, and younger than, say, the age of one hundred twenty could play this game. It is challenging and complex enough to give a good time to an adult, yet simple and entertaining enough to transfix a toddler.

Graphics: 10(for a game made in '97)
I think this was the first game ever to have 3-D graphics, and thats something to think about, plus the color is great and you can't see the pixels (unlike some other old games). if this game was made today, I'd give it a 7 for graphics.

Educational: 1
okay, WHY would an N64 game be educational? Unless it was like, "Mathematics Matt vs. the multiplication menace," or something. But honestly what does this game teach us? uuuuuuuhhhhhh.... that plumbers can jump long distances? Never mind.

Camera Views: 6
I'm only giving camera views a 6 because even though there are a lot of different views to choose from, there are a lot of times when the lack of a camera view that lets you see what you're doing kills you.

overall: 9.2
all in all a pretty darn good game! WARNING: Anyone who doesn't like having an extreme good time should STAY AWAY FROM THIS GAME! (chuckle chuckle)
sincerely,
da willster X

One Of The Best Games For Nintendo 64

Super Mario 64 is very challenging. It provides hours of fun and each time I play it I never get board because it's fun and challenging. It has great graphics, sound, and help screens. The object of the game is to bake a cake with the princess Peach. There are many fun games that will keep you coming back for more. I highly recommend to anyone who is a Mario fan or owns a Nintendo 64 game system.

I really liked the game as it has 15 courses and my favorite is the last one...it is REALLY 3D (when you have the expansion pak)...

I know I am kind of late writing this review, but I was waiting until I beat the game to write a review. In this game, Mario must defeat Bowser and save the castle and Princess Peach by retrieving stars. With 15 boards and secret boards also, it is a fun game. The color and 3D graphics just add to the fun. Once you start playing you must keep playing until you beat the game. The only thing I disliked about this game is that it ended.

The 1st game for the N64 and it still looks and plays well, buy it now! You don't know what are you missing!

Still consistently fun after four years.

I played it about one month after it was released in September 1996 and was simply amazed, just like people were when the SNES and Super Mario World came out in the fall of 1991. Sure, Mario's fingers look like legos, but games could only get better after this one. It's a great game for players of all ages, especially beginners new to the system.

WOW! This version of Mario is the best ever yet!!

I received this game as a christmas gift last year. I was very excited at the time (and still is). This version of Mario can do a lot more things than the previous version (it keeps me on the edge of my seat). Every time I play this game I wonder "what will Mario encounter in this realm?". The graphics in this game is something to be proud of. Also, the use of color is very good. But the one thing that stands out for me are the castle secrets. When I "stumble" onto a castle secret it's like a big thing for me. I actually yell "YES!" or "UH-OH" when I'm given a star so easily or when I find a hidden realm. My heart rate speeds up when I'm playing the game. Especially when I'm so close to getting a star or when I'm about to win or lose a fight with one of the "bad guys". This game keeps me on the edge of my seat. I love it! And I know you will to.

SuperMario64: Our Hero Game (well sort of)

Why well sort of? Here's the deal. Mario is beutifuly animated, but the game can be confusing and too complex. Mario has over 50 moves he can do in the air, on land or in the water. about 25 of these moves are cruiical to your survival. THis can be confusing. Also, the game is lengthy. If you like games you can master in 1 week, DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!!!! It takes you several months to beat this game of you play Mario for 1 hour every school day. Also there are too many worlds. I think there are about 25- 50 courses (worlds). This makes every thing complex. Fortunately, there are signs posted out side the casltle in which you can take lessons for various moves.

This is a great N64 game. It is the first game thst I owned for N64, and still one of my favorites. A lot of people say that it's an old, boring, and easy game, but most of these people have never played it and just say that because it was the first N64 game. If you don't have this game, my advice is to buy it. Even though it was the first N64 game, it still compares to some of the newest and best N64 games. If I would have to say one bad thing about it, it would be that it has no multi-player or special modes and gets boring after you've beaten it 1 or 2 times. However, if you only play other N64 games for a couple of months, this game becomes fun as if you had just bought it again. Besides, most adventure games get boring once you've beaten them a couple of times. All in all, an excellent game.
