Super Mario 64 is one of the best games ever. It's a classic, no Mario fan should be without it.Now, onto the reveiw:
Controls:9.5/10
It's pretty good compaired to some games, but most games have much smoother control. But since this is one of the first N64 games, I'm going to give it a good rating considering there are no PS2s, GCs, or Xboxs.
There's mario's famous jump, double jump, and triple jump. The double and triple jumps can be performed by timing when you press the A button.
There is also the groundpound aka buttstomp and other confusing jumps. Also, Mario can pick up and throw various items, climb walls using the wall jump, and punch and kick.
The reson why this game's getting a 9.5 is because some jumps can be hard to master, and controlling Mario can sometimes be hard.
Graphics:10/10
Like I said:This is one of the first Nintendo 64 games! So, it's okay that the graphics are a little blocky and not very detailed. The graphics are very well done.
Replay Value:7/10
The point of the game is to retrieve all of the castle's power stars and save princess Peach. There are 120 in all.You only need 70 to beat the game.Sure, it's fun to go back and beat the game a couple more times. But how much time are you going to spend getting all 120?Some stars are very hard to get, and after a couple of times, you might get frusterated and just give up!
Overall:10/10
Super Mario 64 is a brilliant game.Mario can be turned into metal Mario, invisible and fly by wearing special caps that last a certain amount of time.He can shoot from cannons and swing Bowser around by the tail. The courses are cleverly designed, everything is almost perfect.I use the word "almost" because nothing is perfect.
It's a bird, It's a plane, no wait... It's Mario

Many people consider this to be the best 2D to 3D transition ever. While this can be called into question with franchises such as Zelda and Final Fantasy, it is undoubtedly a smooth one. Mario has to find all 120 Stars hidden in the castle and beat his archenemy Bowser to free the princess. While certainly not an original idea, it works flawlessly with the rest of the game.
The graphics of this game are superb. While this was the first N64 game to be released, its graphics offer some of the best in the system's library. Mario's world is saturated in color. Every world has its own display of colors and graphics. Enemies of Mario's past advestures have been included. You'll find Goombas, Koopas, Bob-ombs, and of course, Bowser himself. All in all, if you're looking for an absolutely beautiful N64 game, here's one.
The gameplay is nearly flawless. Your objective is to jump into different paintings, which transport you to many different and memorable worlds to do tasks to gain stars. The worlds are huge and lush, and getting around these worlds proves to be an almost effortless process. I say almost, because the camera can sometimes be a real pain in the ass. The camera stays in a fixed position, and thus controlling Mario can be very difficult. You can, of course, change the angle of the camera, but not always to the most desirable position. This problem will be the cause of several deaths, and can leave you screaming obscenities at your television set. The programmers could have made it so much easier for the players if they just would have assigned a button that would swing the camera around to your back, like they did in the two Zelda games, but alas, they decided they hate us. Oh well. One other control problem comes into play when you find yourself flying or swimming. I suppose this relates more ot the camera than control, however, as Mario is responsive to whatever you may do, and the deaths that happen in these places will most likely be because of the camera (again). Other than these minor defects, the control and gameplay is smooth and addicting.
The sound is very good, if not great. There are no tunes in the game that are from previous Mario games, but the music is still quite Mario-esque. Mario's shouts of "Wahoo!" and "Waaahhhh!" can get annoying, though, as you hear them very often.
Mario 64 is a perfect game for the casual and hardcore Mario fans alike. The N64 was pretty much a doomed system the day it hit the shelves, but games like this will help keep its memory alive.
Great Game

This is a really fun game. the only thing is, I saw how some reveiwers rated this game as "educational" THIS GAME IS NOT EDUCATIONAL. Most video games aren't I'm not saying that this is a bad game, or that it is not fun because it is. But could someone please explain to me why they would think that this game is educational, because it IS NOT. If you are looking for a truly educational game then this is not it. This game however, is fun, challenging and exciting. Just not educational.
If you don't have a game shark don't buy this game

Let me just say that i think mario 64 is a okay game as far as gameplay and graphics goes but, every level get's harder and harder it's so hard it would take you months to beat it and by the time you do you would be white as a sheet from staying inside all the time and 50% of your muscles would atrophy. also the ending really sucks it ends by princess toadstool saying let's make a cake for mario then it's over so don't waste your time with this game.
MARIO'S BEST GAME EVER!

Super Mario 64(1997) When I first got Nintendo 64,it came with Super Mario 64.When the system was hooked up,I put in the game, and was amazed on how the graphics were!It was excellent. The graphics were great, the music was cool, and Mario never looked better! This game is for everyone.I thought Banjo-Kazooie was a great game, but move over Banjo,Mario is back! The best game ever.Features new worlds, characters, setting, and don't worry some of the old villians from the early Mario games are here, and can't forget Bowser and Princess Toadstool(Peach).Better than any 64 game ever made!

Well, this game is maybe worth renting if you are a begginer.I screamed at this game because the beginning is so very frustruating.
I will give them credit for good scenecy, cool looking enemies, and challenging bosses.
I don't give them a good rating for quanity(lots of charachters) or originality(go through world, beat boss, get girl, happy ever after).
They could improve by giving a tutorial level like Banjo Kazooie(4 stars).I could not figure out how to fly, and it's sometimes really hard to get a running start.
If you buy this game, buy a walkthrough guide to go with it or you may go mental.
Its very overrated even though its still a great game.

Super Mario 64 has some of the best graphics ever shown on a home console.Believe it or not but I like the graphics in Super Mario 64 more than the graphics in Super Mario Sunshine.Sure the levels look great and have snappy tunes to match but the game is way too easy except for Bowser.Mario 64 is overrated but still one of the best games ever made.It isnt the best game of all time but it packs a powerful punch.
Lets hope Super Mario 128 is even better with harder challenges, better graphics and more levels. I mean Mario 64 was great but the sequel should be harder because I dont really want to own 2 Mario games that are too easy and not long enough.
One of the greatest games ever!

I only bought a N64 recently, but played it numerous times at friends houses. I've already got a PS2 with 38 games, and 6 for the N64, and have played god knows how many others but I have to say that Super Mario 64 is on my top 5 list!
VERY,VERY GOOD
