Great battles

I got this game for my birthday and I haven't stopped playing since. It has amazing graphics! You can rent pokemon or transfer them from your gameboy game with the transfer pack.

There are also mini games you can play. Nine total. Very fun!

You can even play your gameboy version.

It's worth saving up for. I recommend it.

Pokemon Stadium: A Bust Variation

After playing and beating such classic games as Zelda Dx, Zelda 64, pokemon blue, pokemon green, pokemon yellow, pokemon red, pokemon gold, Super Smash Brothers and Crusin'World, I went looking for a new challenge. And I found it in pokemon stadium. Excellent graphics, moderate sound, and unchallenged replayability. So, if your thinking of buying a game, look no more. Just get pokemon stadium!

A tactical blunder by Nintendo

Face it Nintendo blew it with this game. I bought this game thinking it would have a fighting style similar to Smash Brothers. I thought "Cool I can finally wail on the other pokemons!" Wrong! The fighting style is exactly like that of the Gameboy versions. It's turnbased with the questionable rules on who goes first with limited battle techniques. Hmm with that disapointment out of the way at least I thought the Transfer Pack would be cool. I mean hey! If I can play GB games on my big screen that alone would be worth what I payed for it. Another smashing disappointment The ONLY GB you can play is the Pokemon games. Rumors were flying that the TP would rock but . . . it's more like a bad song heard in a supermarket. It's only a touch of what the real thing is. Take away the Pokemon and you have a thinly veiled fighting game with great graphics and almost no technique. This with a poorly written manual doesn't help matters any. (Do the pokemon advance while fighting and do those level-ups actually get saved in the GB? ) Rent 1st w/GB Game if you have it.

This game is great, you can see the attacks in 3-D and there are great game modes and cups to win. The game play is good and the pokemon look even better. This is the must get pokemon game right now.

Fun, but short-lasting

OK, let's pretend that the cartoon, figurines, books, cards, et cetera, doesn't exist for a moment. Only the the game boy game and the N64 game exist. Now, I shall tell you my opinions.

When I played the game boy game (before the marketing & cartoon craze), I was hooked. Even though it is aimed towards kids, it has depth that an older gamer can appreciate. Then the cartoon came out. I became deathly afraid of being caught with ANYTHING relating to Pokemon because now the only people I see with Pokemon things are little kids. (Did anyone ELSE scream at the TV when the guy missed that question on "Who Wants To Be A Millionare?") Now, I went over to my friend's house, and found that his little brother owned Pokemon Stadium...perfect! Now I won't have to sneak it out of the video rental place! I played it, and I must say that the graphics and animation are perfect! The sounds are also good, and the Pokemon don't talk in those annoying cartoon voices (I swear, I'll put an axe through the TV if I hear one more "PI PIKA PIKA! PIKACHU!").

Now, shall I go into the bad parts? You can unlock Mew, but you can't import it into the game boy game. Also, after you select your commands on the battle screens, a very annoying black flash goes across the screen every time! Plus, the minigames that you can play in the beginning are definetly NOT for gamers over the age of ten! And don't get confused...this game is not a game in itself, it is merely a graphical "add-on" for the game boy version. You can import your pokemon from the game boy version and use them to battle others, or you can battle with already-made pokemon...that's it. There is no story - just win every battle. To put it bluntly, it's all flash.

To conclude, it's a rental. I wouldn't recommend buying this game unless you have a few friends to battle with, because this game doesn't last very long when you play it solo. Sixty dollars is also a steep price to pay just to see your pokemon rendered three-dimensionally. Love it or leave it.

Disappointing Game

Well in my opinion, the game started out the best thing I played all year even though I had Sega Dreamcast. Then about 25 to 30 minutes after playing the game, I found it quite boring. All they ever did was just stand around like zombies while I hold the controller with one hand picking which of the four moves they had and use it on the opponent. While the announcer with his annoying voice talk his head of about what I just did. Don't get me wrong, the game was not that bad I gave it a little credit because the graphics was out standing. They could have made the game better like they did on game boy by making us go on a journey to become the best pokemon master, but nooo! they made us stand around all day and wait for somebody to do a stupid attack. By the way, the graphics are "OUTSTANDING"!

Pokemon Stadium--a great rental, not strong enough for a buy

When I first rented this game, I expected it to be awesome, due to all of the "pokemaniac" reviews out there. However, I was slightly disappointed. I personally feel that the Game Boy version is superior, as it costs less and is the exact same game, minus the minigames. It's a great rental, plug in your gameboy and see what your pokemon should be doing. However, don't buy it. It starts out blowing you away, but after a day or two, it gets boring. You just sit there battling without any real payoff, marveling at how nice Charizard looks while "FLAMETHROWER(C>)"-ing. Rent it, don't buy it.

The Greatest Pokémon Utility EVER!

I picked this game up after Spring Break & It's virually impossible to put it down! Talk about an 18 year-old Pokémon Trainer!

Pokémon Stadium is a MUST get for any Pokémon Trainer in the world. Parents will get some relief on the money they'll save on batteries since this game pak does almost everything the Game paks do.

The navigation system is a little challenging to understand @ first glance, but after a while it'll be like second nature.

Pokémon Stadium allow trainers to battle each other in 3D while using their own Pokémon! The league rules are built into the game so matches are official.

Professor Oak's Lab allow up to 4 trainers to arrange & store Pokémon & non-vital items on the N64 game pack itself. It can hold 240 pokémon & 100 items for each trainer (actual amounts may vary). The Pokédex is a great way to learn more about the Pokémon you want to catch. The map feature has been modified so that you can see how hard it is to capture the wanted Pokémon & what level you'll have to face them.

After getting Research, you can head to the Pokémon Tower (Which resembles a Game Boy) to train your Pokémon as well as catch more.

Ready to become the best? Hit the Stadium & watch the sparks fly as you battle your way though the 8 gyms of Pokémon in League format. If you do very well there, you can get special goodies & tricks unlocked on your game pak (Yellow Tip: Complete the Pika Cup w/ Pikachu & No Rented Pokémon without continuing to get a surfing Pikachu. There's a hidden surfing Pikachu mini-game on the north beach by Bill's house.)!

Don't own your own game pak or you're not confident in your Pokémon? There are rentals for you, all 151 Pokémon! (Mew & MewTwo are locked up when you start.)

WARNING: NO ELECTRONICAL ENCHANCED POKéMON ARE PERMITTED TO ENTER THE STADIUM! ONLY OFFICAL MEW'S (ONE GIVEN OUT BY NOA) WILL BE PERMITTED IN CERTAIN LEAGUES.

NOTICE: Pokémon used in Stadium battles (Stadium or Free-for-All) will not gain experience since this is emulating the one-on-one trainer battle for the Game Boy & Game Boy Color.

Want to take a break from fighting? Then check out the Kid's Club where you & your buddies can play the 9 built in mini-games.

For PokéFanatics, this game is for you! YOU WILL NOT REGRET THIS PURCHASE!

For people who are interested in Pokémon, try it out. If you like it, pick up Pokémon with the Stadium!

Pokemon Stadium is one of the best games ever made. The transfer pack is a great tool and the graphics are great. The mini games are fun. You are able to play game boy Pokemon on the system too.

Pokemon Stadium Pros and Cons

I really enjoy playing the game. The minigames are hilarious and makes for a lot of laughs. When battling multi-player, it is absolutely wonderful! My friends and I couldn't stop playing for upwards of four hours at a time. I thought getting to play the gym masters as an option was a nice touch too. The only real complaint I have (and it is a real reason not to give the game five stars) is that you don't get the Pokemon sounds. If I'm playing Jigglypuff or Ninetales or Scyther, I want to hear them--it adds authenticity to the game. With the quality of the graphics and the fun of playing, not putting in the sounds is a major oversight on the part of the manufacturers. Still, it is a lot of fun, especially if you're having a get-together.
