This game is so amazing. I've beaten it 3 times so far. I love that it's an RPG and also that it's 2-D. In this game, Mario does his usual job and tries to save the princess. In order to do that, he must overcome many levels, find objects, and make friends. Throughout the game, you/he can look for Star Pieces -- which can be used to buy badges, which will assist you in your journey. You can earn coins to buy mushrooms or fire flowers and the like. You can take these objects to a cook and she can make new recipes. What else? There's too much to mention. This is an extremely fun game; it'll take you over 24 hours to completely, probably. Really worth the money since it can be played over and over.

Not as flat as it looks

The N64 didn't have many fancy RPGs, until Paper Mario. This is what true RPGS are made of. In a nutshell, Paper Mario is a mix between the combat system of Pokémon and the platforming elements of typical Mario games. That means you accumulate a small team, earn experience points, and fight random monsters. Yet it also requires players to search areas and utilize powerups much like systematic side-scrollers. It sounds silly, but it's very addictive. In fact, it's so addictive, I found myself losing sleep over it. Paper Mario overflows at the brim with stuff to see and do. The plot moves along at such a smooth rate, it never leaves a moment where you wish you weren't playing anymore. Yes, there are times when the game basically gives you the answers to its puzzles. But with all the puzzles it has to offer, maybe this is a good thing. Regardless: If you like RPGs, or more importantly: if you liked Pokémon, Final Fantasy, and the likes... there is no doubt you will love Paper Mario. The only downside is: once it's over, it's over. Not much is left for improvement.

Cute...but a little disappointing...

Since I am a super huge Mario fan, I was more than happy when I heard he was finally making a return to the N64. I am also a super huge fan of Mario RPG for the Super NES, and I was ready for Mario to really make a splash with this game. I am a little disappointed. The game is very nicely done and is very cute, but a little too cute. Mario isn't as fiesty as he once was. One of my biggest issues with the game is the selection of characters. I didn't like how you could only have Mario and another character. And the characters you have to choose from are pretty lame. I would have like to see Peach(the whole captured thing is getting old), Luigi, Toad, and a whole mess of other Mario characters. The low amount of damage and hit points also really ticked me off.On the bright side, the gameplay and graphics were very well done. The flat story book thing was neat, but I hope it doesn't make an encore performance. The storyline(although Peach needs to learn some self-defense) is good, and you do get to travel to some interesting places. PAPER MARIO is a good game. It is unfortunately geared towards younger players and that may turn some old schoolers away. But in the end, like any Mario game, this one is worth a try.

Paper Mario is da bomb! You could fly, get far away items, go under water, and turn invisible. If Mario and Paper Mario go into battle Paper Mario would kick his flamed bootox. Oh and did i tell anybody In Paper Mario can you be two charicters in battle. And you could beat bowser to bits with star shower. I don't have this game and I havent beat it but it's the best.

Final Fantasy, without the Repetition.

Paper Mario is a landmark game. Nintendo has taken on the task of 'fixing' the repetetiveness of a final fantasy game(and I do love final fantasy, don't get me wrong). Nintendo is really good about having an understanding of the parallel between gameplay pacing as it relates to story pacing. The game's puzzles are simply yet perfectly designed to complement what is happening, as well as the moods of each story/level. It really impressed me in a way I haven't been impressed with in a LONG time. A breath of fresh air in a very lost world of bad games. My only complaint is the lack of originality to the story. It's the same old mario theme which is a great set of characters nicely developed, but it's just been done to death. I hope game designers take notes from this game and begin to realize what a game is, and what it can be to your audience. To nintendo: Thanks for not trying to blow off wannabe filmaker steam into another cheesy game disguised with beautiful CG sequences. A Sequel would be nice.

Bowser is back and he [took]the star rod. ( The star rod can beat almost anything.) Mario must save him. This game has great graffics. You battle alot. This is why you have party members. When you finsh your turn, your party member will go. There are two BAD things about this game. 1. There are 7 bosses and then you must defeat Bowser. Bowser is too easy to beat. 2. When you finsh the game, you can't do anything else.

I got this game and like many others played it right when i got home. This game really gets your mind going. Only one thing i didnt like. When ever you level up your strength or defence doesnt go up! Whats up with that? But otherwise the game was great. Its good for kids. The game was easy until you get to bowser. I beat him too but it was really fun. Get this game if your a young kid. I recommend it.

GREAT GAME!

First when I heard that a Super Mario 64 2 was coming out I thought,"Mario isnt the guy to have sequels". Ya, he has an unrelated series going on, but no games are paired up. Some games need and have awesome sequels like the banjo and kazooie games. But when I heard it would be a "Paperish" game I rented it. It is not is not at all like the first game so you dont get bored with similarities. I love this game because some of the bosses were really challenging, especialy the Master at the Dojo. Anyone could beat this game in less then one solid week.(I mean a solid 24/7 gaming experience.) Easy. But to actually FINISH the game is much harder. It will take at least 3 solid months to get EVERY star piece, EVERY bagde, ALL the items, etc. This game is huge, with so many possibilities. The party members are really creative and cool too. You need to find all of them to beat the game since some areas, like bottemless pits and water, can not be crossed without the help of one (or even two) of your buddies. Since there are eight youll never tire of them tagging along everywhere(like Navi.). All ages will absolutly LOVE playing this game. And Ill say it again PAPER MARIO IS DA BOMB!! (PS: Ignore the reveiew below this one, that guy doesn't know hat he's talking about!)
