There is so much to do in this game that you can spend hours not even doing the real adventure. Its also tons of fun. Mario, is the main person and he must rescue the star spirits and stop bowser. But this time mario is in a 3D world with 2D charaters. When mario touches an enemy he must face it in a turn-battle. You take turns. There are tons of items, badges and upgrades to get your charater stronger. You get lots of parnters to help you outside and inside of battle! The game is very long but its not too hard but not too easy either. This RPG will keep you going for a long time in this fun-filled game!
A MUST BUY!!!!!!

As an avid Mario fan of all sorts (I can't recall one Mario game on any system I haven't beaten), I was highly impressed and even more addicted to the game. Over the course of 9 days, I averaged 3 hours per day (don't worry - it was over a school break!). The gameplay is easy to get used to; the graphics - although you wouldn't expect it, are very good; the music could be a little better, but I'm not a huge critic on music in video games; and the complexity of the game isn't too hard to follow. Most kids from ages 9+ could beat this game on their own (however - there are some tricky/confusing moments where I had to go on the internet to find the solution). Paper Mario falls under the RPG/Adventure categories. For this reason I could not pry myself from the couch to take a break. As the Amazon.com review said, it's highly addictive. And definitely worth buying.

Excellent game. I am not a big fan of RPGs but this game is fantastic. The game is a cross breed between an RPG and a platformer. Imagine playing SMB 3 with some lite elements of the best RPGs. Story line is classic Mario Bros and the graphics are gorgeous: colorful, bright and classic Mario characters. I have played the game for 30+ hours and still have like 15 to 20 hours of gameplay.

Ok, first things first. If I was able to enter my review score, rather than choosing from a drop-down menu, I'd probably give this game 4.8, or 4.9 out of 5. The reason being that it's not my favorite game. However, it still manages to rock some serious casbah. I won't focus on any gameplay mechanics, or story points as others are doing, those are only second in importance to what I feel is most important in an RPG: the mood. Granted, story and gamepley often can, and will, contribute to the mood of the game (as is the truth in many Final Fantasy games), but I generally think of 1, artwork, and 2, music(not a ranked order), as the most important factors in making or breaking the mood of a game. For instance, in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, my favorite game, the ice cavern. This place, sure, has some fun puzzles, and something to do with the story (unfreezing a big fish)....but what makes me love this dungeon most of all is its mood: the beautiful visual setting, and the sleepy, mysterious music. Also, towns in RPGs have a nice mood, whether or not they look gorgeous and have nice music. This is because of the lack of random battles, or ANY kind of battles; towns are a perfect place to take a break, get a drink, and run around aimlessly without having to worry about saving the princess. Anyway, Paper Mario has a wonderful mood. It is all very playful, like the levels of Mario games that have inspired it, but that does not mean that it is a childish, bubblegum, good-for-nothing romp. Who doesn't like Peter and the Wolf? Eh? Same thing with this. The best of the levels do happen well into the game--my favorite town is the last one you will visit--but even the early settings will invoke an emotional response like no other. If you like this part of a game, the mood, then I hope this review was helpful: you ought to buy the cart now. I find that no reviewers discuss this part of a game in their articles, and so I am forced to go and experiment with the hoards of titles out there to find something that fits my liking, and I just felt like writing on it today.

It's still a terriffic RPG. Speaking of that, there is one thing that makes me mad. Some people said that this was a really bad game. I asked them what kind of game it was. Guess what they said. ADVENTURE. I don't get why people can't identify an RPG. Oh well. Anyhoo, this is a cute game and the art direction is top notch for the N64. It's easy, but it's still a blast to play. You have Mario, along with 8 other companions that you will meet throughout: Goombario, Kooper, Bombette, Parakarry, Bow, Watt, Sushie, and Lakilester. I must say that in the RPG dept., it sure isn't FFVII, but it's still fun. I play it like a book.
