My brother and I really really like this game. I think the game was easy, but mario and peach and the toads were really really cute and it wasn't scary. I think they should make a Paper Zelda, too.

This was an awsome game full of interesting conversations, mild humor, and traditional RPG battles. Although the graphics may be odd, you learn to adapt to them and grow to like the paper thin quality of Mario. There is everyting from Taste T.'s kichen to Luigi's secret diary. This has got to be the best RPG for N64 that there is out there. I would like to see somone top the genius of this game. This game is not just a save the princess game. The princess actually saves Mario a number of times. The action command is a clever system that allows you to inhance your attack damage, and is also a way to save you from severe attacks, I have never seen such a creative way to inhance abilities. So if you give this game less than a five I say your just scared of havn' fun.

Not Another Boring Video Game--This One Is Fun!

We have rented this game at least a hundred times for my 5 yr old son, & he's definitely not tired of it or bored w/it! I'm buying it for him for Christmas so I can save the rental fees! This game has a good bit of reading (but it's fun to sit & play the game & read the "story-line" w/him). However, once he got used to it he knew which character had important things to say & which did not so he's playing on his own a lot, too. It inspires "forward-thinking" because Mario has to accomplish certain goals before he can obtain the rewards. Our entire family gets into it when he's playing! Highly reccommend to N-64 buffs...old & young alike!

The BEST Game to ever hit the N64!

I would give this 100 stars if I could. The sound is rich and the music will have you humming it wherever you go. The idea that all characters are paper is cute, but doesn't come into play. The background is filled with textured and beautiful sights. The plot itself is also unbelievable and the battle sequences are amazing. They are turn based battles where you try to use strategy, not just force, to overcome your opponent. For instance, if your opponent is spiked or on fire, you cannot jump on him to damage him because you will get hurt in the process. Instead, you must use the hammer. If the opponent is flying, though, You cannot reach them with the hammer, so you resort to jumping. For enemies that are both, you must select the correct badges to use. In the game, there are 80 collectable badged that have different effects on yourself and opponents. For instance, there is the spike sheild that protects you from getting hurt from jumping of a spiked advisary. There is also P up-D down badge which raises you attack b one point but lowers your defense by one. There are hidden passages to be explored, a humongus variety of items to be collected, and hundreds of battles to be won before you can travel to the final battle against the notorius Bowser!

Paper Mario is absolutley the best RPG I've ever played. Certainly the best RPG on Nintendo 64. It's action packed and hilarious, with a very simple battle system and great replay value. Its sister game, Super Mario RPG, was a great favorite of mine wich is why I rented Paper Mario. Although the games generaly had no relation with each other (except for the 7 star concept) They were still very good. I was disappointed not to see the return of some characters and I was also disapointed that the storyline was again "Bowser gets Peach." The music wasn't the best either. It's definitley a good game for kids, with an understandable battle system and childish music, but it's a good game for adults too. Don't underestimate this game because of the way it looks, it's definitley a worthy game and a grace to the N64.

Paper Mario, what can I say. First off, I want you to know, I really hate RPG's. Pokemon, Quest 64, hate it. I hate them all. I like adventure games, like Sonic, Zelda, and Mario. But Paper Mario was one of the greatest game I have ever played in my entire life. I rented the game first, to see how it is. It was so great, I bought it brand new, not used (that is very unusual, I always buy used games, not used). Why do I love, well, where can I start. The story of the game was fantastic, it was fun, simplistic yet fun. The story didn't really change, but new things would come up. I just couldn't get enough of it. The world of Paper Mario is huge. There are so many places you can go. There is a forest, desert, rugged mountain, spooky woods, a haunted house, a toy room, a jungle, a volcano, a winter-wonder land, and a couple of other places. The characters of the world are huge. There are countless amount of characters. There are toads, koopa and goombas (good ones!!!), boos, yoshis, and many others. So many characters, so little time!! The enemies you fight are also fun, and there are many of them too. Best of all, you have partners, each of them with fighting skills and outside-fighting skills, which are great. You will usually never use only one character (unless you only have one). The battles are really great. They are frustrating at times, and you really have to think how to act. You also have badges, which allow you to get extra abilities, including fighting abilities, and you can mix and match to make your personal perfect Mario. The graphics are simple, yet great. The world around you is 3D, and colorful, while the characters are 2D, but also colorful. It looks like something right out of a picture book I used to read as a kid. The music is great, I don't know what else to say (I am not good with words). The only problem with the game is that it is really easy to beat. Well, not really easy, but I could do it without help from books or online, and it didn't take very long. But I enjoy replaying it, and finding things I didn't know were there before.
In a scale from one to ten, I would give it a twelve (I know I sould corny). The only other games that I think match up with Paper Mario are Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. Have fun!!!
P.S. If you play the game for the first time, don't use any help at all, no matter how hard it gets. Trust me, the game is a lot more fun if you don't know what's coming. =)

N64 doesn't have much for RPG's but this game surely makes up for it

I got this game in 07 trying to see if N64 has a real RPG that was good. Zelda is kind of and kind of not an RPG. This is suprisingly interesting from the get go and then followed through with fanatastic gameplay. If you like RPG's you will certainly not put this game down until you finish it. Because its Paper Mario and the game is 2d and 3d in a bunch of places (which is good) it almost doesn't feel like its an N64 game graphically. Even still the gameplay takes you in and doesn't let go, even RPG's can sometimes be short, but this game can take you (depending on your skill and effort) anywhere from 20 to 50 hours of gameplay.
Another thing that I should say is the fact that the replay value of this game is high. You'll have alot of fun redoing everthing.
Finally is done in a cross between NES Mario and N64 Mario so you just get both of best. A great game and I am currently replaying it again. One game that will not dissapoint.

Easy to start and truly fun to play.

This game was fun from beginning to end. I liked the different parts of the world with the different unique challenges to over come. The story line was great along with the way the game looked, and how you could interact with it. Like being able to go wherever you wanted to in doing side quests or your favorite place to level up. I cannot think of a single thing the makers could have done better. Nothing was so hard you needed to have special finger action skills, which for me is a relief. The music and sound in the game was fun as always. I can't see anyone not liking this game, really.

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of the best games I have ever played! You have to battle all different kinds of villians and collect star spirits that teach you new moves.

I have played a lot of of video games, but Paper Mario was my favorite. The only thing really bad about the game is the VERY LONG AND BORING NTRO. That probably could have cut out. I didn't expect Paper Mario to be very good, but it was! I would reccommend this game to almost any age of players.
