Mario Party 2 incorporates the same concept as the first only with new minigames as well as badder versions of the "favourites" from the first. What ever happened to the light bulb one, though, I ask you?
The thing with Mario Party 2, is it didn't do much to improve on the first. It detracted, in fact. The games this time around aren't half as great, and that's when you're playing them. The board play is slower than ever with all the crapola they've loaded on to them this time. I'm sorry, themes and getups worn by characters don't count as innovative, or new.
Another little thing. The different minigame that's played is decided based on the colour square you land on. More often than not, my brother and I found ourselves stuck in a 3vs1 minigame, which, cooincidentally, has the least amount of games in it. I can't tell you how many times I've played Look Away.
Hopefully, Nintendo will do something to improve on the game, when they're making Mario Party 3. If they're going to go at it like they did 2, then they'd best not even bother.
Rental only. If you feel the need to buy a Party game, get the first Mario Party, Goldeneye, or Conker's BFD.

This is a real great game, although I think Mario party 1 was better than this. The good things about this game is that you can play with up to 4 players and that it is very addictive. The bad things are that it takes a long time to play 1 game and that you cant go to a regular Mini- Game Island. Buy Mario Party 1 before buying the expansion.
Disappointing. Good, but disappointing.

This game was Disappointing because at the beginning of the game the intro showed "Mario Land" and then Wario came and crashed the party. Then they started arguing, and suddenly Bowser took over the land. Then the game said the first to defeat Bowser will have that character's name named after the land. For example, if Luigi won, or something, then the World would be called "Luigi Land"... or so I thought. I made Yoshi win ALL the worlds, and I also made Yoshi defeat Bowser 6 times in compleatly diffrent areas, yet it was still called "Mario Land". Personnaly, I think the game lied becuase the game said who ever beat Bowser would have his or her name in the land. But it all ways has to be for MARIO. No fame for YOSHI. Yoshi beat Bowser, yet he did not get the fame he deserved.
Forget this party

This game is all hype. It is a superb copy of M.P.1 only with less minigames and it seems that the makers forgot the fun parts of M.P.1. All it is is an electronic board game. Don't waste your money on this game! The makers tried to make up for thier boring game with costums for the players and good graphics, and a bunch of hype. Buy a good game with your money!
2nd parts are not always better

Is difficult not to think of the first game mostly cause in the second one there is very little or no challenge also the rewards are not as good as in the first game, although there's some new minigames and the chance of training before the real game. in general 1st one was better.
Mario Party 2, the best multiplayer game.

Mario Party 2 would have to be the best multiplayer game in the nintendo 64 world. It is harder then the original with better minigames and harder to get secrets. The new boards are very challenging and the different costumes for each board are a nice touch. The secrets are also much harder to come across. Unlike in the first party the secrets here are not just announced they have to be found. I played this game with a friend who had never even played 64 before and after an hour of playing this was his favorite game. The game can be easily understood, and it gets more challenging as the boards progress.
I LOVE THIS GAME

I guess Hudson Soft realized how bad Mario Party 1 was, so they actually made Mario Party 2 a good game! The minigames are better, and even though there are a few bugs in the minigames(Shy Guy Says. I liked all the minigames execpt for the Wind-Up shy guy one, it was impossible! But the rest of the game was decent.

This game Is not a very good game to buy at all. The games price is high and the graphics STINK> the levels are hard, The single player is awful, and it takes a long time to play. I rented this game and the minute I started playing I wanted to take it back to the movie store. So, if I were you I would stay away from this game.
Great for parties!

If you sold your N64, you made an unfortunate mistake. Not only did this system have two games that were arguably two of the greatest, it also had a great multiplayer series called Mario Party. Thankfully, it is continuing on the Gamecube. Each one has a strength, and in the second one, it's the minigames. There are updates on 20 classics, like Bumper Balls, Shy Guy Says, and Desert Dash, along with 40 all- new ones, like Shell Shocked, Archer Rival, and- my favorite new one- Honey Comb Havoc. You have 6 players (Mario, Luigi, Peach, Wario, Donkey Kong, and Yoshi), 6 boards (Pirate Land, Western Land, Mystery Land, Space Land, Horror Land, and Bowser Land), each with a duel and item minigame that suits them, and plenty-o-fun. If you're looking for a series of 4 player bashes, then look for these four games.
