The Second Game Seems to be the Better Game

If you have played Mario Party, you know pretty much of where I come from when I say that the game was an instant classic. Not only does Mario Party 2 deliver the goods of the original, it adds to it. They put many new Mini-games in the follow up game and renewed many games from the old Mario Party, with better graphics and new twists. Many boards are available for you to bash your friends with and many new ways to totally ruin your friend's (given you have any) perfect game. A huge flaw with the old game was that everything was left up to chance, while in this one there is still that element, but less of an bother in this one. Instead of Boo takning a random amount of coins from you, you must push the A button to get him away. This is many of much needed improvments to the game. Graphics are still the same, with better a better look to the Mini-games and the boards are now animated, but not much. Music is definatly better the second time around, with a new soundtrack and some classic Mario Party 1 tunes. But, I do encourage a rent before buying; you never know what your going to like.

Okay, I probably would only have given this 4 1/2 stars if I could, but I decided to bring it up. If you liked the first one, you'll love this one. There's some variations of the old mini games, plus heaps of new ones. The new lands are also excellent, and more interesting. I only have two complaints. When you have bought all of the mini games, there's nothing to do with your money, so it's not really worth playing any more. Also, there are some mini games (eg. Bowser's Big Blast) that you can't buy from Woody, and I was just wondering why. Apart from that, an EXCELLENT game.
It's good but too much like the first!

I really loved the first Mario Party and when I heard a second one was coming out I quickly went to Blockbuster and checked it out. I was a little surprised by how much it was just like the first one. I had hoped it would be a little different in a sense, so that's why I dropped it to 4 stars. But this one has better graphics, more and new games (although they kept a lot of the games from the first mario party!) and it's just as fun as the first one! I haven't bought this one yet, but I think I will soon!

Mario Party 2, after Mario Party, is a really fun game. If you liked the first mario party, you'll like this. It took the best mini games out of the last mario party, and made them better. they even added a lot more. I really enjoy this game. It can have up to four players. it has all the good games, like bumper balls, crane game, bowl over, and much more. I think if you like board games and small mini games you will enjoy this.

I've played all the Mario Party games but this is the best of them all. It's not the greatest cause like all the Mario Party games it's hard.Hard to become the superstar that is.The minigames are great! They've even kept some old ones like:Hot Jump Rope. The music just rules! After I played it for the time I was humming that music for like 2 weeks! The graphics can be beatin with today's technology but they're still good.I recomend this game for Nintendo fans everywhere.

I have pretty mixed feelings about this game, which has a pretty much equal pros and cons. The pros are this game rocks for a birthday party or sleepover (you can play all night long), the mini-games are fun, and it is easy to learn. The cons are sometimes the game gets on your nerves, sometimes the computer "cheats", and there are better games out there (like Super Smash Bros.) Overall, this game is a good rent, but if you buy it, the one-player mode wears off.

It is a ok game. Fun at first but eventually grows dull. Graphics aren't that good and it normally takes at least a hour to complete a short game.2 pluses are that you can save the game and open new maps and other options.
Really enjoyable

We had rented the original Mario party (it didn't really impress us that much) so when it came down to buy one we went with the "2" because it stated it had more mini-games. My daughter and I really enjoy playing this game. My whole family will play and have my 3 year old a computer guy. The game does take a long time to play (atleast an hour) but for family game night it is really fun. We can't wait to get Mario Party 3.

This game is a lot of fun. It is kind of like the first Mario Party. So if you liked the first Mario Party you probably would like this on. It has a lot more mini games and they take some out too. They take out some bad games like Bash N' Cash and unfortunatly they took out Cast Aways, which is my favorite game. They added some games like Toad In The Box, Dizzy Dancing, and a lot more. They also added a bank and battle mini games. In the battle mini games if you land on a space with a lightning bolt on it each player pays a certain amount of coins, chosen by the computer and play a mini game and if they come in first or second they get the coins. In my opinion I like Mario Party 2 better than the first Mario Party.

You know you need to review your household budget and free time when you go out and splash $25 on a Nintendo 64 while the Gamecube is the Next Best Thing. That's what my wife and I did, picking up a bunch of games on the cheap. One of those games is Mario Party 2, a fun board game-style offering.
Basically, you play as one of 8 characters from the Mario universe against 3 other characters, either computer controlled or human. You can play in a variety of boards, such as Pirate Land and Western Land. Just like any other board game, you roll a die and move along the board, trying to collect coins and stars while avoiding things like cannonballs, trains, and Baby Bowser. At the end of each round of turns a mini-game is played which can earn winners more coins. There are over 60 mini-games, not counting the mini-battle games which occur on certain board spaces.
The game is a lot of fun to play with friends (or your wife), but it takes a very long time to play, even with the "short" 20 turn mode. You can save games in progress, but it's not as fun to pick up a game midway through. Overall, though, this game has a lot of playability and longevity and, if you have a N64 unit, is worth having in your game collection.
