Jet Force Gemini is a Triumph!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 24 / 24

This game is awesome! There are three playable characters plus Floyd who, once you re-assemble him lets you have play in the fun Co-op mode. You start out as Juno after a short cinematic scene and in his second world you rescue his twin sister Vela who will then go off on a mission of her own. You can then play her mission and you will find their canine companion Lupus on her third world. As you go from world to world you must destroy Mizar's insect-like drones and save the innocent teddy bear-like Tribals. The colors are great and there's even a secret way to give the drones more colorful blood by collecting the heads of your enemies after you kill them. The camera angles are good and the multi-player battle mode is awesome. Each of the characters has their own special ability that means they can go places the others can't. This makes it so you must bring each character into the worlds of the others to find all the tribals and secrets. There are even special missions for the flying drone Floyd and two little car racing games. Rare did them selves proud. This game is a Triumph!

People who visit some videogamesites on a regular basis should have noticed the not-too-enthousiastic reviews of this game

All I can say is: Don't believe a thing of it!
Jet Force Gemini is one awesome game!

You take control over one of the three members of the JFG team although initially only Juno is available. During the game you'll get to play with the other members as the game-route splits up. You'll have to revisit al lot of the worlds if you want to complete the game, but that's not as bad as it sounds. Some area's are only available to some characters, so you'll constantly discover new places to explore.

A special mention has to go out to the Enemy AI. It's simply fantastic! The run, hide, duck and even surrender themselves if they see they have no chance!
The game also delivers a lot of ammo with some cool guns as the tri-rocket launcher, sniper rifle and shirukens.

On top of that JFG delivers some eyepopping visuals with big landscapes that go on for miles without a hint of fog or pop-up and full dolby surround stereo sound making it an aureal and visual treat.

Make no mistake, this game is HUGE and offers a big challenge. Fortunately, it's also a lot of fun and eventually JFG adds up to one of the best games of 1999.

Great Graphics, Great Action, Great Fun, Great Everything!

This game is great! I mean it is more fun than 007. It has better graphics than Zelda. And better action than DK64!

This game a player mode that's awesome! The story is cool to. It also has another mode with 2 or more players where you can go head-to-head with you and your pals.

Listen, this is a great present to give to anyone that likes video games on the N64. This could possibly (maybe should be) the N64 game of the year!

Amazingly JFG is Rare's first game since Banjo Kazooie. This fact alone was enough to gaurentee huge sales and huge publicity. But should we believe the hype?

JFG has a typically irreverant background story. All you need to know is that you have three playerable characters (one of whom is a dog)and that success depends upon killing everything bar the cute teddy bear 'tribals' (cutness seemingly being compulsary in an N64 game).

Blasting takes place on various worlds: and they are planet sized. This game is HUGE. The awesome 3D engine has an endless horizon and dances with beautifully draw enemies with no slow down. Cinematic sound plays in sync and the player is immersed in the action; the hallmark of an excellent game.

But, JFG does have two persistent faults, both of which are unexpected from Rare. Firstly the control system is very unintuitive. Holding down the R button switches from a 3rd person to a 1st person perspective. Its best to use the former for exploring and the latter for shooting. But having to switch between the two views and button configurations never feels completely comfortable. Likewise the camera angles are sometimes cumbersome and ill-directed. Many 3D games share this problem, but Nintendo demonstrated with 'Zelda' that perfection is possible.

Despite these distractions JFG is still a great game. In a sense it represents a welcome return to 'old skool' game play. While so many 3D games seem intent on forcing players to see and collect everything JFG does not bother. It is possible to blast quickly through levels and continue. 'Completists' may scorn this approach but thats their decision. JFG rewards either approach, and in so doing wins universal appeal. Definately the N64's most fun game.

It Will Literally Blow Yoou Away!

This is an action packed game. It has awsome levles, cool boses, great graphics, and a variaty of ways to play. You can Play in a co-op made or against somone, it has a target range that could be a game in itself. Plus 3 different characters that you can play as. Jet Force Gemini is all around an incredible game that should go strait to the top.

This game is a must to any fan of RPGs and action-adventures. The cinematic scenes are great. Graphics during gameplay are excellent and well-contrasted. The music and sound fx go perfectly with their respective situations. A storyline with an in-depth plot that keeps you waiting for what's next. With a wide range of weapons(my fav's are the tri-rocket launcher, shuriken and sniper rifle), there are plenty of situations to use each in. Get more ammo capacity to get some weapons to over a hundred, and your standard-issue auto aim pistol close to 1000! Each character has a unique ability the others don't have, enabling them to go to areas the others can't reach. Play as Floyd the flying droid with infinite ammo and complete immunity to harm. Game control is excellent and fine-tuned. Find and unlock bonus features(areas, characters) for multiplayer combat. This is a LONG, IN-DEPTH game, but is fast-paced and challenging. Don't expect to buy it and finish it quickly. Great for any player that likes to figure things out themselves. You need to be patient in the beginning while trying your best to live, but once you get past that, the game is richly rewarding.

This game is awesome, to put it simply. The fun factor shoots right through the roof. The graphics are awesome, the weapons are awesome. Once you find Floyd which enables the two player co-op mode, the game steps up to another level. I have not played a shoot em up like this in a long time. As for the puzzles, they're are slightly challenging;just enough to keep you excited with the game instead of having frustrations. Another masterpiece from those geniuses from Rare. I highly recommend this game, add to your collection now!

Jet Force Gemini- One great game for the N64

Jet Force Gemini is awesome! With impressive graphics, music, and play control, and of course its challenging levels, you'll be kicking bug butt in no time. With three characters to play as Juno, who can walk on lava, Vela, the skilled underwater diver and Lupus, the cool flying cyberdog! With its one player, two people cooperative, and four player battle modes you'll be there for quite a while!

Jet Force Gemini, a space alien (bug) shoot em' up. In the beginning of the game, you start out slaughtering Mizar's evil forces. Soon the game progresses to nothing but puzzles with little action. Camera angles constantly leave people laying on the ground wondering what hit them. The auto-aim feature is terrible compared to Goldeneye 007's auto-aim. JFG's auto-aim switches camera angles while making your character face a certain way making it hard to explore other areas. To deactivate the auto-aim you must run away from the foe while letting him pummel you just to leave the room. The limited arsenal makes killing the bugs boring FAST. In my opinion, choose a different game such as Goldeneye 007 or Winback.

This game is a real gem. The storyline is great, the characters are neat, the music is very enjoyable, the weapons rule (I especially like the flamethrower) and the guys you have to save (Tribals, they are called) are so very cute. The challenge is just enough to keep the experienced gamer playing while it is easy enough for the inexperienced youngster to have a blast with it. However, don't get it for its multiplayer mode. It is not as good as it seems. Get Super Smash Bros. or Goldeneye for that. An overall great game; a must buy for any action fan.
