Yet Another Golden Game Form Rare

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 2 / 2

Let me start off by saying that you will not beat this game in one sitting. No, you will many times go to an area several times trying to figure out how to kill without being killed. It is a challenge before you get very far, which might turn some less patient gamers off, but will keep people who are persistant coming back for more.

The graphics are pretty decent for a Nintendo 64 game, but the textures are WAY too visible. The frame rite sufers at times.

The control is good, but not spectacular.

Overall I would reccomend this for a gamer who as the patience to experience a great game.

Another wonderful game by Rareware!

This is an excellent game. You play the roles of either Juno Vela, or Lupus. They are resistance fighters who are a part of the Jet Force Gemini (hence the name). Throughout the game you have to save the tribals, who are ewok-like creatures that have been enslaved by the evil Mizar. During the entire game, you, playing as one of the three characters mentioned previously, you must collect different weapons, keys, and splatter Mizars seemingly never-ending drone army. All in all, an extremely well done piece of software. Mind you, this game is extremely hard. Extremely. You will often find yourself deep into a level, and become surrounded by aliens. It is very long, but it is definitely worth every dollar you spend on it.

Parents, the reason for the teen rating is that a fair amount of the games emphasis is on shooting, and when the drones die they will explode in a shower of green goo, or lay on the ground twitching with flies gathering on them until you finish them off. It is much like Starwars type action.

Once again, another brilliant game by Rare. Buy it!

Jet Force Gemini-One of Rare's Best Games!

This game is a 100%, must-buy game. In Jet Force Gemini, you play as one of three characters: Juno, Vela, and Lupus. You play with these characters in 4 levels each. With an array of high-tech space weapons, you free the bear-like tribals which the evil Mizar has enslaved. But...it's not that easy. Mizar also has created legions of insect-like Drones, who will try to stop you. You must kill these Drones to free the tribals and to get to Mizar and stop his evil plots of conquest! It may not sound like much, but this game is excruiciatingly difficult. Prepare to be confounded on where to go next or how to meet your objectives. This game is rated "Teen" by ERSB because every time you eviscerate a drone with your weapons, they explode and green blood flies everywhere or they lay twitching on the ground, mortally wounded with flies biting their faces. The farther you get in the game, the Drones are more and more difficult to defeat. This game shows the best of Nintendo 64 and Rare alike. BUY IT!

Rare has done it again!!!

This game is a third-person shooter in which you can see your characters and not just the hand and gun. This game is not for everyone because it takes about 60 to 70 hours to beat since it is really tough. The music is amazing! It is all in Surround sound. It sounds 10 times better than any PSX games. The graphics are good but could be better since N64 is the world's most advanced classic system. The only downfall is that there are no in game speeches. If this game uses the expansion pack and has speeches like Conker's Bad Fur Day or Prefect Dark then it would be the best ever. But it was made in 1999 and it was good back then. Another thing is that you get to control Juno, Lupas, and Vela. Vela is really cute and hot. When you make her jump it will make you want to have an affair with her. She looks sexy and her voice is perfect. This game is a must buy.

Great game- highly recommended to anyone looking for a
long, rich game. Cool enemies, weapons, game-play, and
really never anything more than moderately hard. The boss
battles take some getting used to, but there are patterns to work with there, too. This is just a COOL game, with a lot
of variety and depth!!

It's Awesome!

an Action Packed Hollywood Epic

After the present game consoles have been released I never thought I would come back to this. But this is one thing I couldnt ignore. Jet Force Gemini is without a doubt one of the greatest action packed third person shooters of all time. At first the game seems a little simple as you start off with one character and only a simple pistol. The level is also pretty straight forward and nothing greatly impressive happens at this time. But once you come across the second level, gaining the machine gun for the first time, you enter one of the most action packed epic experiences on an alien spaceship-and this is rarely seen through action shooters.

The game's basic goal is to search for and rescue the Tribals(Ewok like creatures), who've been attacked and enslaved by alien insects(large and small). The enemies carry a great deal of AI. They can run for cover, dodge, weave, and they have weak points and defenses. Some enemies use different attacks, depending on whether they've spotted you or not. Others are mindless drones who use sheer numbers to overwhelm.

Jet Force Gemini has such a wide variety of awesome gameplay that it could be broken up into four separate games and still receive its strong reviews. Constant action, Adventure, Sniping and stealth and a great deal of exploration, with both Third-Person and First-person views. Throughout the game, as you come across each of the three characters, who each have their different special abilities, you will notice that some areas cannot be accessed by certain characters and require others to return to the same level to complete it 100%.

The game is overloaded with atmosphere within both its action scenes, incredible soundtrack and its great level designs that some may notice have a resemblence of Hyrule from Zelda. The graphics are colourful and stunning. The bosses throughout are probably the most impressive bosses ive seen in any game at that time.

There is one thing about the game that isnt entirely a flaw, but you still need to be aware of. Its the controls that may take a little getting used to. For a game of constant action, exploration, stunning graphics and impressive story and bosses, Jet Force Gemini feels like the largest action packed Hollywood epic ever.

The best N64 game ever!

This review is not to presuade you to buy this game by going in detail about what other's have said at least ten times already, this is just to voice my opinion. THIS IS THE BEST N64 GAME OF ALL TIME! I'd also highly recomend The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Star Fox 64.

A Rare Miss

Jet Force Gemini is not a bad game due to a lack of effort on the part of Rare; it is a bad game because it is absolutely no fun to play. The game is polished and well produced; but the level design is unimaginative, often leaving the player running back into the same rooms over and over again because the lackluster level design and failure to use readily recognizable landmarks leaves you lost and disoriented. Rare tried to implement a creative controller design, but fell a little bit short; keeping your finger on the R button when you are in what I call "aiming mode" is clunky and frustrating. The three main characters have no character; Joanna Dark's right hand on your screen is more enchanting then the three characters you get to control. Rare has also implemented the always failing approach where you need to revisit each level with each character to find all of the goodies; for this to be successful (and it rarely is) you need tight, well designed levels that the character can enter and quickly find the part of the level he/she needs to access. As I mentioned before, the level design is poorly done and the levels are a bit too large, so I shudder to think about going back and getting reaquainted with each level again with each character, especially if you consider that fact that you will have forgotten where you need to bring each character anyway! A rare miss. Rare's second miss actually. Donkey Kong 64 suffered from the same boring gaming premise; making you revisit each level with all of the characters is a recipe for agonizing repetition. Game companies, please stop this.
