Jet Force is the Bomb

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 4 / 4

I got a movie in the mail about Jet Force Gemini and I knew it would be a number one blockbuster hit. I got a reserve on it and when I got it I played it all day. The game has the best storyline ever and easily the best game from Rare. As the game goes on you try to rescue the furry little Ewok tribals. After you rescue every character and beat all the bosses, you go on and fight Mizar. Jet Force Gemini will always be an action-packed thriller.

JET FORCE GEMINI is "FANTABULOUS" from beginning to end.

Let me start by saying that this is my first Rareware game, but it definitely will not be my last. For me, this game has surely surpassed Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire, once the top shooter on the N64. Superb graphics, great sound, and a complete well rounded storyline can all be had in Jet Force Gemini. The greatest moments come when you get to splatter 2 or more bugs at a time. I am not too thrilled with the relative shortness of the game; but you just can't have everything. Also, JFG's weapon targeting leaves much to be desired. All in all, Jet Force Gemini is certainly an above average game.

this game was incredibly awesome! im gettng it for xmas and im pretty excited. the control was great, views cool, graphics and sound were superb, and the characters abilities are unique and very cool. though once when i finished a world i realized i had to go back through a couple of levels in order to pick up something i needed in order to advance to the next world. the storyline is very interesting, but the intro was pretty long. i would definitely recommend this game.

BACK TO THE N64

I have grown weary of the new genre games, yes the graphics are superb in the x-box, g-cube and ps2, but the all round gameplay lacks in most of the recent games titles.
I bought this by accident actually and i must say this is the best ever!!!! I get the feeling sometimes when i am playing jetforce gemini, that!! N64, never really got the recognistion it deserved, ps1 mauled N64 even though the graphics in the N64 Was superior, you must admitt that N64 have some of the greatest game titles ever,(enough about N64) however!!!!!!! if you like long exciting action packed games with beautiful colours and graphics then JET FORCE GEMINI might be just what you are looking for, so! dust off the old N64 and play this game even if it's 2005.
Laterz folks.

One of the best games of the year

It's the best game Rare ever made. It's better than Goldeneye 007 because of the third person view and missions aren't SO BORING like that game. The factor of collecting heads is a funny idea and all the game's mini-games make it worth buying it. The best idea is the one that if you're playing with Juno (for example) in the first world and you want to play with Vela or Lupus you press start and change your character, and when you quit pause it leaves you right were you finishd the last time. Rare couldn't pass through the so known details like getting a better armor and rescuing every bear-like pacific outlanders. In resume "One of the best games of the year".

One of the best, most original games I've ever played.

And I've played a lot of games. I condsider myself an expert, and while Sony and Sega have MORE hits than N64, with Jet Force Gemini, the Big N reinforces the fact that it has all the BEST games ever. JFG is a fun-filled feast for the eyes and senses: Riviting all the way to the end. HIGHLY, recommended.

THIS GAME ROCKS!! ...

this game is one of the least expensive N64 games and 1 of the top 5 in my book. In the single playewr game you can squish bugs by yourself or have a friend help you, be the robot, and blast the bugs to pieces. Parents- if you have a young child this would not be a good choice considering the violence but for 11-15 year old this would be the perfect action game. It also includes an awesome multiplayer stage. You can alsoearn many characters in bonuses to get awesome stuff. This game is a must. If you don't want this game. Then get perfect dark or super smash brothers for your kids.

A very fun game with much replay value

I wasnt excited to get this game but when i got it it was very fun and involving. It has a deathmatch mode and a target practice mode which is very cool it also has a racing mode. The coolest part was the co operational were me and a friend could play together at the same time but could beat the game while doing so. This game is well worth your money .

Rare does 'War and Peace' for the N64

It's always nice when video game developers strive to push the limits of a system's hardware and top their previous efforts. Rareware has been especially well-known for doing this, and the company really went all out for 1999's Jet Force Gemini. Though it was overshadowed by Donkey Kong 64, Jet Force Gemini is not just a solid game, but also a vast, vast, epic - and maybe, just a *bit* too ambitious.

JFG is a homage to the simple, classic video games of the past where players went around blasting enemies left and right. Juno, Vela, and their dog Lupus are part of an interglatic peacekeeping force, and must save an alien, bear-like race (think Ewoks, but even cuter) from an insect invasion led by the evil Mizar. At their disposal are pistols, machine guns, rocket launchers, grenades, and even fish food. The level designs are varied, including forests, ships, mines, volcanos, temples, and more. While the graphics are occasionally stretched and ugly, the environments are *HUGE*. Everyone is nicely animated, and enemy intelligence is high - they duck, evade, attack in force or run when outnumbered, and even try to kill hostages before you can save them. The game's music also rocks, from the heroic opening theme to the more subtle, atmospheric. You know the music is good when Rareware has released almost every single cue on their website! There is a nifty co-op mode which lets one player control the action while the other follows them around as an extra set of weapons. Throw in a decent multiplayer mode and lots of surprises, and JFG is a quest worth blocking out your calendar for.

So what makes JFG overly ambitious in my opinion? As with almost all of Rare's games, a lot of backtracking is required to completely finish the game. In this case, your three characters can visit different areas of the same world, and you must resuce every last hostage to get to the re-match with the final boss. What makes this tedious is that the game only saves your highest score. For example, a level has 16 hostages to rescue. You rescue 15, only the last one is killed. This means you must go through the level and collect the all the hostages again. This can get seriously frustrating, and I keep wondering why Rare chose to extend the game this way. Indeed, I'd say over 70% of this game involves saving the bear-like Tribals. And unlike other games like Zelda and Donkey Kong where you get a mini-reward every so often, nothing happens in JFG until the last Tribal is collected.

JFG pushes the N64 hardware like a good video game should. There are lots of elements here that make this game a highly recommended purchase, but I wish Rare had packed in more levels instead of extending the quest unfairly with tedious collecting. Like 'War and Peace', you're entitled to serious bragging rights for completing this one.

This Game ROCKS!
