this game packs a lot of depth and difficulty and it actually very good for its length i bought it back in 2000 and have not beenten it since i got it the only problem with the game is the tribials which are very difficult to find and to rescue without getting killed yourself but enough on that the wepons in this game an unmatched for variety and power ranging from the weak flame thrower to the almighty tri rocket launcher which is a weapon i have not seen matched in any game since if you like a game that has depth and mega fire power this is the game for you
ok game

This game is pretty cool, but I think the game is way to long. It is also a little hard to control your person. some good things are that you have awsome weapons and things like jetpacks and other hidden items. Overall, I would rate this game a 3 out of a 5.
Bravo, Rareware!

I rented this a while ago and loved it. I rented it a few days ago, and loved it all over again! Ignore the reviews concerning play control; as soon as you reach the Sehkmet, the control scheme becomes second nature. I, for one, didn't notice any slowdown--but that may be because I was too busy listening to the music (Which is great; more on that later), trying to gun down the bugs, and trying not to hit the Tribals in the room, which is easier in first-person mode.
Now, concerning the game itself: each level, as has already been said in other reviews, has its own mood, set by the music, graphics, and, yes, difficulty, for quite an immersive experience. See the Sehkmet, with its grandoise trumpet music, and Mizar banners, and its--size.
I won't kid you. Each level is enormous. You can even explore entire starships (I might add that no ship level is designed as a ship would be, but that's a minor quip). And each level is hard; Ichor (Military Base) being the absolute hardest; you'll feel like you're being pummeled by an entire division of bugs. Also understand thaty ou must collect EVERY tribal to even get to Mizar the second time, and there isn't much replay value in single-player mode, as a result of this. It's unfortunate, but a small loss. I found the Sehkmet's music to be a bit repetitive. You just make your own opinion.
This is an epic game. From the great forests of Goldwood, to the frozen wastes of Cerulean; from the burned wasteland of Eschebone(Explore the insides of a gigantic bug!), to the wasted land of Tawfret(Explore the insides of a castle filled with bugs!); from the colorful battleship that is the Sehkmet (Think the Roman Empire), to the bleak Spawnship (Think the Galactic Empire); there are an endless amount of places to explore! There are even hidden levels!
Buy this game. you won't be disappointed, nor will you care about the storyline; finding the ship parts is maddening! Get it. It is a masterpiece.
One of the best games I've played

Yeah, this is one of the good ones. It has an interesting plot, and there is no obcenities. It is also two player (co op) after you get far enough into the mission. The only problem with this game is that to FULLY beat it, you must collect all these little tribles (teddy bears) to beat midas. There is no blood and gore, except for green blood that squirts when you shoot ants. The only distasteful thing is you collect ant heads. Eww...

This is one of those titles that once again got overlooked by the gaming community. I think the main reason it wasnt successful was because it was way to advanced for the N64 gamer. It was more of a futuristic game just born on the wrong system( if this game was released on the gamecube or nintendo wii I think it would have been a top seller) Not only was it a very creative game with tons of action and great boss battles, but all 3 characters had to be used on certain levels in order to beat the game. overall this is a great experience and even if you never played it and are 20 or 30 years old it is still a great title and definately worth a purchase for only 5 bucks! well what are you waiting for? go get this game!
The best ever! A must have!

I have to admit, I have not played many shooting games(about this, Goldeneye, and Duke Nukem, that's about it), but this game is ABSOLUTELY the best game ever! The graphics will blow your mind, and I don't see how you can ever lose interest. There is so much to do! From saving little bear-like tribals to blasting space bugs, this game will keep you playing for hours on end! There are 15 worlds to explore, with each of 3 characters, and there are many hidden things to be discovered, not only for the 1-player mode, but for multi-player as well. And the multi-player is so much fun, even without the hidden secrets(I won't say anything more about the "secrets", I'll let you find them for yourself). This game is so big, it is like adventure, suspense, action, all in one. If you buy 1 game for the N64, buy this, you won't be disappointed.

If you like goldeneye, your like this, its mostly the same thing but it is in thrid person. It is also like StarShip Troppers, your wasting: ants, bettels, mostly every kind of bug. The story line is also awsome and the weapons, chacters, and the enemy is smart not like winback or goldeneye dummies that just stand there and get shot. When i frist herd about this game I went straight to the the rental store and rented it and the next week they were selling it for ten buck so i said i'm getting it. So if you like shotter up get this you won't be disaponited.GAME.

It's been a long time coming, but while we've been twiddling our thumbs since finishing Banjo-Kazooie, Rare have been busily refining what has turned out to be Rare's finest shoot-'em-up since Goldeneye! After playing for what seems a matter of seconds, you'll know that you'll spend the rest of your time with a pulse rate so fast, it'll probably knock a few weeks off the back end of your life! Sadly, the multiplayer is not exactly up there with the likes of Goldeneye, but with 4 is still a great laugh. It wipes the floor, graphics wise, with any other N64 game so far. It's also absolutely huge, so you'll keep coming back for more until you've wiped the smile off that evil Mizar's face. I must admit, i was put off by the difference in controls to the likes of Turok and Goldeneye, but once your used to them it's a joy to play. It makes you want to scream out and thank Rare that someone still cares about gameplay. You simply must play this.
Well it's good BUT....

After tearing my hair out for several hours, I came to a conclusion. JFG is a good game, but it's simply no fun to play. Unlike other Rare games like Donkey Kong 64, Bango-Tooie and Perfect Dark, JFG seems more like a challenge than a game: a challenge to see how good you are at video games. If you're a pro, this should be a lot of fun. But for everybody else like me, it gets VERY tedious. And unlike DK-64, Perfect Dark or Banjo-Tooie, it offers very little replay value.
About the rating: It's a "Teen" but that mostly counts for bug 'blood'. There's no human blood or profanity.
