Super Space Race Game

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 13 / 13

FZeroX is a quick pace futuristic raceway that allows the user to race in a multitude of different cars. Each car has a different look and feel (speed/acceleration). The cars hover over the track and accelate using rocket engine technology. There are a wide assortment of different style tracks. All of my kids enjoy this game and is great for the whole family. Death Race is fun as well, in which you try to knock off your opponents and be the sole survivor.

This is a true classic and puts Wipeout to shame. 30 cars, 30-odd tracks and 4 difficulty settings. Add to that the three modes of play ( GP, Time Trial and Death Race ) and that you have to progress through the game to get all the cars and tracks available so there's real compulsion to play on further, this could be the best racing game on the N64. The excellent Multiplayer mode (that was the only thing missing from the classic SNES version) is the icing on the cake. An essential purchase.

This game is great!

I really liked this game when I played it. I thought it would just be another racing game, but I really like the random course generation feature. It is good to play multiplayer with because each course is a new experience.

This is by far one of the fastest games ever made. This is better then my past favriote games that are: Whipeout XL and F-Zero. This game can with stand 26 cars on the screen at once, and still can do with the 60 frames per secound. It dosen't get old with the X Cup around. The X Cup is made with reandomly generated courses, I have seen well over 100 of them. Thats not all! When Nintendos DD64 comes out you can make 3-D courses with its add on pack. So if you don't have this game, run to the store and pick it up.

WOW!

What a great game, sure the tracks are a bit bland, and the cars have a low poly count, but the simplicity of them gives them a kind of sleek feel. All that sacrifice adds up though, and the framerate is AMAZING, with all the cars zipping around at 700kmph its SOO COOL. The graphics are meant to be FUNCTIONAL, it is not a sightseers game, anyway, you'll be too busy going hyperdrive to stop and look at things. The X-CUP is especially great because it randomly generates a track every time, so you NEVER get the same track. Also the pure selection of cars is great, and the tracks are SO well laid out, especially big blue (the tubing one) where you race 360* on a tube! It RULLLES! The best racing game on the N64!

Wow! So fast it blinds!

This is one of the greatest racing games ever. 36 tracks with a random track generator. 30 vehicles to choose from. Awesome 60 frames per second speed. Great multiplayer. This game will blow you away!

This game has it all. A high-quality racing game with a wide variety of cars and tracks. Play multi-player or against the computer. Take a time-challenge or race in a tournament. Play a "death match" until one player is left.

This is a remarkable sequel to the original SNES F-ZERO game. The graphics are awesome and the animation is smooth, the sounds great.

It's also inexpensive than many other games and far more fun than most others.

My only complaint is that you have to accomplish so much before you're allowed to use the more advanced cars. Downloading the cheats from the Internet really helps.

Great game!

F Zero X is hard at first but once you get the hang of it it's great. There are a lot of vehicles to choose from. The tracks are great and there are a lot of them. The cars are hard to control sometimes and you can fall of or run out of energy. The graphics aren't what I expected-in fact they aren't very good at all but the game is still good. The game doesn't boring very quickly. I gave the game a 4 star rating because of the graphics.

This game is full of great stuff for anyone. With 30 machines to race with, you are bound to find one suited to your racing style. It has 3 starter "cups", serieses of 6 courses with the 29 other racers, and 3 difficulty levels. Beating the same cup on all 3 levels will get you a new row of machines to race with (you start with 6). Once the starter cups have all been beaten on standard difficulty, the "Joker" cup will appear. It is another set of 6 courses, much more advanced than the others. The 3 starter cups, plus the "Joker" cup must be completed on all 3 difficulty levels before all 30 machines will be available. Then, the "Master" difficulty level will come up, and it is EXTREMELY hard to beat, with all of your rivals in the games storyline attack you and basically do anything they can to stop you from winning. Altogether, this is a gem of a game, with lots of game play variety, multiplayer, and one player. This is definitely the best racing game made for the N64, and is strongly recommended.

Faster Blood Falcon. Kill! Kill!

Let me just say this. Out of all racing games I've played for the Nintendo 64, only Diddy Kong Racing and Mario Kart 64 are more fun. Okay. With that said, let's explore the various components of gameplay in a random, unorganized order. What I found really compelling is the awe-inspiring cast of characters. 30 racers, each with their own personality and life story, is quite a hefty amount. Another thing this game excelled in was the sense of SPEED! While Star Wars Episode I Racer went just as fast if not faster, that game didn't present you with the sense of speed F-Zero X does! Sometimes it can get overwhelming, and that sends you flying off the track, where (if you're playing multiplayer) allows you play a rather fun slots game in which you can still affect the action on screen. The ability to completely wipe out opposing racers with a slight double press of R or Z really adds great strategy in the single-player mode. And Death Race. Oooh...that is a classic! Tracks are well-designed. Boosts. You won't win without them. They can get quite annoying, since if you miss one, you're pretty much screwed, at least in multiplayer. Single player AI is pretty dumb.

I don't really remember much of the music. Recently, I was able to use VGMusic (great site) to listen to F-Zero X MIDIs, and based on what I heard, it didn't seem very impressive. Perhaps it's because these rock-like guitar riffs don't appeal to me. Give me soft jazz, western, or classic any day! Sound effects stick better in my mind, and they are pretty good. The thing that sticks out the most is probably the wail as you fall...off...the...track...KABOOM! Visually, F-Zero X had been kind of lacking. The textures were bleh, and the backgrounds were just fog or clouds. Even though it's not visually or aurally appealing, F-Zero X is still an extremely fun game to play.
