A game that gets a "WOW"

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 1 / 2

WOW! This game rocks socks. You can hunt solo and with groups but if you are a magic character then I suggest you should hunt in a group. The trade skills are awsome even though I am sort of upset that you can only buy materials in shops and can't find them off monsters and stuff like in Ultima Online. The game has about 1/4 as much lag as Asherons Call and Everquest and it has 1/8 as much lag as the 3D Ultima Online. I have played every MMORPG such as Asherons Call, Ultima Online, Everquest, and Anarchy Online and this one is my second favorite (my first favorite is asherons call). And wen the hunting gets boring you can go into frontier and fight players from other realms in team based warefare and you can also create siege weapons even though they are extremely hard to make. Frontier is sort of like Team Fortress Classic but it is an RPG, it is about 100 times bigger with around 500 players (at least), it requires a lot of team work, and it is much harder to get up again and get back to where you were when you die. If you are a fan of Everquest, Ultima Online, Asherons Call, or Anarchy Online (if there are any) then you should definately get this awsome Online RPG.

Sincerely,

Mafila in Albion on the
Guenivere Shard.

There Are only 2 MMORPG Games in the future

My two cents:
First off-this game kicks major a$$. The spells are awesome, the fighters are as fun as mages, unlike the Eq style fighting, press a, 1, 2 , and 3, then do it again and the RvR is awesome. The leveling and questing is awesome and there are good newbie weapons that are easily attainable. The quests are fun, unlike the quests in EQ that send you running through high lvl high aggrow zones for hours, only to go back again to complete the quest. All this done because it is a rare thing to find a benevolent druid or wizard in the zones. DAoC is, unlike EQ, fun to explore. Scenery that is ever changing is an awesome break from the reapeted textiles of EQ. All and all, unlike EQ, this game is not only fun for role players and newbies, but the high levels kick too.
The second game is the reason i say in the future because it is not out yet. Shadowbane is going to dominate. From what I have read of the extensive beta testing planned in SB, i have much more confidence in it than in AO and i think the gameplay will be uncomparable to the floundering mmorpg, as far as I am concerned, is little above zero (only because of the graphics and even then SB has them beaten in that aspect). With the expansion for DAoC coming about the same time as SB is going to be released, they should both stay in the running, and the competition should develope two incredible games that should be observed with mutual respect. The fantasy and quest based gameplay of DAoC will be a good match for the political and medievil setting of Shadowbane. The one problem that I anticipate in SB is the possibility of the game degrading into a pking environment. I hope that SB will keep a strong beta population on the provide the backbone and help orchestrate and set up the gameplay in SB. For future buyers I suggest that they should be patient if they get the game, and that they lvl as high as possible and as fast as possible in the most nuetral zone in the game. Also, one should probably get toghether a group of good friends and form a guild toghether. That way one could set up a strong guild before the competitors even start.
I have rambled off the subject of the review, and for that I am sorry. I am very excited about both the potential of SB and the engrossing and fun gameplay of DAoC.

A Fantastic Adventure

Providing you have the time, DAoC can bring you into a truly amazing fantasy world. Mythic's MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game), taking place in post-Arthurian Camelot (As well as the worlds of Midgard and Hibernia), combines traditional role-playing elements with a unique and inventive realm combat system. As a low level character, you play within your realm (Albion, Midgard, or Hibernia; it's up to you), gaining experience on your own or with a group of other players. The low level hunting areas deny entry to players from other realms, and therefore protect weaker characters from high level enemy players. As your character grows and you acquire more powerful items, you begin to war directly with players from the other realms in Frontier Zones (War Zones that provide no protection for weaker characters). Whether hunting with a small group of eight or storming enemy keeps with dozens of allies, Realm vs. Realm combat is the brightest spot of Mythic's gem. While you can play the game sparingly or at your own pace, your character will level slowly and chances are you will never get the opportunity to truly enjoy Realm vs. Realm combat. As long as you are willing to devote a substantial amount of time to its brilliant landscapes, characters, and story, don't hesitate to buy Dark Age of Camelot.

Everquest on steroids

DAoC (this game) has amazing graphics for just about everything. The chat system, in my opinion, is well thought out and very user friendly. The GUI is fair to good, with a few bugs left to be worked out.

Those are its good points. With that said, this is EQ (Everquest) in newer clothes. It is Mythic Entertainment's version of EQ, and that is about it.

If you have a higher lvl character in EQ, starting over in something that is essentially the same game can be frustrating. I would suggest evaluating whether or not to switch based upon the time it takes for a person to once again advance to point that is similar to the level attained in EQ. For me, it was not worth the time... plus, my social contacts in DAoC are non-existant, while in EQ they are well established; that, in itself, is a big factor in deciding which game to play.

Dark Age of Camelot Hits the boards.

Im only 10 but i have allot to say about this.

Dark Age of Camelot has exctroadanary Graphics. Its like your living in the game. You can play with people over the net , kill monsters (Including animals and other players). Unlike other games i played like Ever quest, Anarchyonline , and the small bit of Asheron's call, When it came out, there wasn't allot of lag , and very few Bugs. Although, it is hard to level high level's I like that it's challenging.

Mythic ...

The game play is excellent nad the comcept increadible... But as the game progressed Mythic took it upon themselves to 'balance' the realms. This envolved giving other realm more skills and changing the rules in others. Unfortunately, they did not do this mathmatically but rather but who complained about what the most. Unfortunatley Mythic has now ruined the experience for all game players. I would not even waste my time with this game. Be patient and get Shadowbane (when it is released), Earth & Beyond, or go for Star Wars Galaxies when it is released. You will have a less frusterating day after some good game time. Mythic DAoC expansion is coming out.. Unless you heas otherwise hit the VN Boards before purchase.

Dark Age of Camelot (do not buy)

After playing since beta I can easily say that this game was the most awaited in a along time AND the biggest dissapointment.

Incredibly poor customer service, realm inbalances and a horribly long grind to level your characters = a game better left on the shelf.

mythic should die

This stupid game took away from other mythic games.. Mythic entertainment is unreliable and will desert this game soon enough just like they did all their other games when this one came out..

Terrible game for most

I played through this game and it is just a leveling treadmill, the storyline is meager and once you hit the highest level there isn't anything fun to do, the player vs player is slow and leveling is slow, I would reccomend getting ultima online, everquest, or when asheron's call 2 comes out get that.

Save Your Money and Buy EQ

I baught this game before I baught EQ because a friend said that is was supposed to be better. When I baught it, I found out that it had many cons.
1. If your graphics card has not been updated, this game will not perform well for you.
2. I understand that an online RPG game is bound to have problems, but they could atleast have a decent Tech Support center, i've waited weeks for help before.
3. The graphics are nice, but the game does not have variety.

-I'd reccommend going to EQ first. I made the switch after a month of playing DAoC. I am sure that I made the right choice.
