This game had the potential to be a great FPS in the tradition of Halo, but unfortunately I feel it never really met it's potential because of numerous flaws. I'm not going to discuss graphics and sound, to me those things are less important than gameplay and in the end, good graphics can't make a bad game good.

First of all the programmers and game developers failed miserably by not providing a mid-level save feature. If you get killed near the end of the level, you have start the level all over again. And the levels can be quite long. This can lead to you repeating a section over and over and over which leads to boredom and frustration. This becomes a bigger problem as you advance into the game as the levels become increasingly difficult.

The game is broken up into chapters, and each chapter has several levels, so the game is very long. But the game doesn't get fun at all until about the 3rd and 4th chapters. Those two chapters are a blast, but by the 5th chapter, it becomes ridiculously difficult and soon is more frustrating than fun. In chapter 5, you become overwhelmed by the sheer number of enemies, you are faced with ammo shortages, weak weapons, and the decent weapons that you were carrying have suddenly disappeared. Ironically there appears to be plenty of ammo for weapons you don't use, or for the shotgun which seems to be totally useless as a weapon. For some reason, the programmers have substitued overwhelming enemies and difficultly for creative gameplay.

This game had so much potential. Early in the game I thought it was going to be one of the best FPS's I had ever played. I was wrong. If you want to see this game folks, I highly recommend you rent it for a few days first. Aklaim blew it with this one.

I was a little disapointed with this game. I am all about multiplayer and for that Halo is a much better buy. It is really fun to do missions with your buddies and you can't do that with single player Turok. The multiplayer "fight mode" is ok but just not as good as halo. In fact Quake on Playstation 1 was just as good or better.

Graphics are pretty good but movement is a little cumbersome. I played it on my Xbox and can tell you that Turok on the 64 was much better and easier to play.

This could have been a great game with a few more options like co-op play. I was thinking about buying some Akklaim stock but I think I will pass...

a pretty good game

I bought this game without having read a review on it, so I was a little uneasy about buying it. However, once I started playing it, I found that I really like this game. Its fun, plain and simple. The graphics are good, but not great, as none of the graphics really take advantage of the Xbox, but it is by no means a bad looking game. In fact, some of the scenery is really nice. Some of the textures look very good close up, but some of them look washed out and bland. During gun fights, there is so much happening on the screen at times that it really makes you feel like you are really in the battle, and the framerate only stutters slightly when a WHOLE lot is going on. This occasional stutter never hinders the gameplay, however. At least not in my opinion. And, anyone who has played Halo will recall that even that great game has a few frame rate issues. The sound and music are good. The musical score is not exactly memorable, but it is very appropriate and it compliments the action well. There are also some very cool weapon effects, with heat waves blurring the screen when you use the rocket launcher or flame thrower. Overall, I like this game. Its fun. It is not perfect, and HALO it is not, but on its own merits, its very good. It has a lot of blood and you can even blow off certain body parts of the lizard army soldiers, which is a plus for any one who can stomach the violence. (Yes, you can turn the gore off, too) Anyone who enjoys first person shooters with lots of mindless killing will enjoy this game. And it is just cool to blast away at dinosaurs and other jungle creatures in the process. ANY living thing you see, whether it be a bird, a deer, a monkey, or a lizard (among others) can be killed. I know it sounds mean, but it adds to the replay value later on to go around hunting innocent creatures. Hey, you can't do it in real life, so why not do it on the game, right?

I just got Turok for xbox and it is great. The multiplayer is the best and the single player is awesome. Although the AI is weak on the single player, everything else makes up for it. A must buy for any turok fan. If you don't want to buy it, rent it!

Truly a great game, regardless if you are a "turok" fan...

Ok, I have to admit, I had never played a "Turok" game before this one; and I am incredibly picky when it comes to first person shooters (Soo many are overrated, this one is not!).

The multiplayer modes are phenominal! There are so many different types of multiplayer gaming, and all of them are fun and provide unlimited hours of fresh action that will keep you glued to your screen. There is even a purely flying multiplayer mode, as well as a sniper mode.

The flying levels are spectacular; visually stunning. These levels were well thought out and are controlled well via the gamepad. They occur in the plot at various times, and occur throughout the story.

I enjoyed the plot of this game, although it wasn't always that significant in the gameplay.

If you are looking for a game with great graphics, get this one! I cannot believe anyone would be dissapointed with the visuals. Plus, the music provides a great mood.

The levels are HUGE and expansive; you could literally walk around for hours in every level (if you wanted to).

The weapons are also fun. New weapons come throughout the game, and they range from a bow and arrow to massive explosives to ... well, that is for you to discover!

I could go on and on, but I'd rather be playing Turok.

Pros:
- Superb multiplayer gaming; many different modes of play.
- A good plot that keeps the adventure going, there is a purpose for this hero!
- Great graphics; I could look at the water all day.
- Extremely high frame rate, and super fast loading times.
- A nice mix of ground combat, flying, and sneaking.
- The game is FUN!!

Cons:
- A few more dino's couldn't hurt.

The game itself is fun and has great graphics. The save point system is terrible, though; a half hour of progress is lost in one bad fall. And also, the game gives me a headache for some reason.

Great game, Great game play, Very realistic,Not dissapointed

I now rent all games before I buy them to make sure I don't get stuck with a great sounding game and find out it really isn't.

I was very skeptical about alot of newer x-box games, especially after the hype over how great Dead to Right was, and found out for my self that it was not.

This game did not let me down though. I did not think people were being creative enough anymore to put out really high quality games, just to get there game to market.

1. As a fist person shooter game, game play is very realistic, and the controls of the player is excellent. Some scenes are a little long before it automatically saves, and are hard, but are still fun.

2. The animals and graphics look very similar to watching a Jurrasic Park movie, and really add to the game. My favorite level, fighting at the summit, you start out the level having to defeat a T-Rex that looks ands sounds very realistic- maybe too much so !! This is not an evolved "intelligent" warrior lizard, this is the real thing but still hard to kill. To kill this monster all you have is a pistol, and a few other small weapons, like a bown and arrow. The rest is for any reader to learn. It is hard to figure out how to defeat the Rex, (and even after you figure out a way, it still wins more times than not!). But it does not stop there, you then have to defeat a very difficult enemy of various "intelligent" lizard warriors that I have to still have to learn to defeat to get past this level. I am having too much fun to get frustrated at learning to defeat this hard level.

3. Who ever made this game had a real fighter game in mind, and made it a darn good one. It is not sloppy or too difficult like "Dead to Rights" (which is a poor attempt at stealing some of "Max Payne's" well earned fame) This game is very realistic and fun to play. Controls are excellent, viewing angle can be adjusted the way you like best, choice of weapons are great, good story to the game, graphics and realism is out of this universe!!! Good job to the people who made this one. It did not lack in any significant way.

Better than Halo

Everyone with an Xbox needs Turok. This is a must have in your collection. Incredible AI, graphics, and levels.

What do you get when you combine a FPS and dinosaurs?

I don't know, but it would be better than "Turok: Evolution."

Never mind plot. Who needs plot when you have dinosaurs with guns, a Civil War general on top of a raptor, and a Native American who travels through time and space?

And never mind good game play. I mean, sure the graphics are neat but gameplay is incredibly boring and repititave. When the scene changes later on you would think it would improve, but it doesn't.

I now introduce to you the pterodactyl level! Imagine "Rogue Squadron"...but not good. Not only is the pterodactyl ridiculously hard to control, but the game enjoys sending you into tight caverns and small, twisting tunnels. Yes, that's right, somehow your main character and his friends think its a wise idea to send an animal with a mile-long wingspan into a tight, enclosed area. What the heck!? That's like flying an F-18 into the Chunnel!

By the way, did you know when pterodactyls crash they explode like they're full of gasoline?

The multiplayer was equally sad as well. A friend of mine who owned this said, "Well the game stinks, but the multiplayer is actually pretty good." Five minutes into playing multiplayer he quickly took back his compliment.

Do not buy this game. Spend your money for better things, like gold lint.
