Pretty Decent

I was a little disappointed with the gameplay with this game. All in all, I gave it 3 stars. If you are just looking for a racing game, you will probably like it. Howver, if you are looking for something with some type of missions involved, you need to look elsewhere.

Best Game For XBOX

My standard for a great game is a game that when you pick up your controller, you are totally taken away into another world. Anyway, this game - Project Gotham Racing - I kind of stumbled upon and got it cause it was cheap. I am happy to say that so far it is my absolute favorite game for XBOX and the best racing game I've played in a long long time (I'm thinking SNES Super Mario Kart was the last racer that was quite as amazing during the time I played it).Anyway, to focus on PGR. This game has freakin' amazing physics, very hard and challenging races, and lots of variety. Even better, the game is consistent and fair in its physics, if your good at your sliding and maneuvering your car, you will learn to accumulate kudos and advance in the game. The cool thing is the game has very basic controls but it demands very deft skills, and this game is amazing because it is those skills that are constantly challenged and developed even more. This game becomes a real sport like challenge and take a life of its own as you progress in your skills. This game makes for an extremely challenging and immersive racing experience. People that do not like this game probably don't like it because it is hard. Each race is no longer than 3 minutes, so you don't spend much time on one race, but you usually have to do races over and over again to get real good at the race and get a medal. It may sound boring, and redundant but most of the time, you know you messed up and could do better and don't usually feal cheated, and mostly just want to restart and do the race over again. I love this game. I also have Sega GT and really do not like it because for the most part, while the driving physics are good and the graphics I think are much better than pgr, it is curiously more of a role playing game, because what ends up mattering the most is the car you drive and build up. Therefore, the racing most times is secondary to your winning and once you reach a basic level of racing in that game it usually is dependent just on your car. PGR on the other hand while occasionally you need a good car, for the most part the challenge comes in mastering the steering, physics and then trying to pull of a near perfect race. THis game rocks for a hardcore racing fan. It really takes a ton of energy and concentration and provides a racing experience that is console gaming at its best!

Project Gotham

No, this is not a batman game as some people thought. It's even better (not that I liked batman games...).
Project Gotham easily has over 20 REAL cars, like the F50 and VIPER models (even has the new Mini Cooper).
This game uses the soundtrack feature of the Xbox (which lets you play your own music from your cds during the game).
In multiplayer mode you can race up to four people at once in over 30 different locations.
And with excellent graphics this game deserves 4 stars; if not better (you decide that part).

Project Gotham Racing-A Review by NewAtomMan

It may seem odd that, instead of winning by finishing in first, you have to earn the most points. Project Gotham Racing is the best racing game on Xbox,or at least until Project Gotham 2.

There is more than 20 cars, and 300 courses in 4 cities (London,Tokyo,New York, and San Francisco). The cars you can drive range from the Mini Cooper S,to a New Beetle,to the incredible F50 (the car on the box cover).

You can also decide what the text is on your liscense plate! For example,I wrote "BAD4U" on it. You can also decide what color you car is,what your helmet looks like, and the design of your liscence plate.

GRAPHICS: 10/10 Absolutely Amazing. You can see reflections from signs in the street at night, you can see your driver drive with one hand while he changes gears, and the damage modeling is great! If you drive against the wall, the paint will be chipped off.If you smash against the guardrail too many times, your side view mirrors will bend.If you slam headlong into a wall, the roof of your car will start to bend out of shape. The damage is great, and the graphics are great.

SOUND/MUSIC: 10/10

If you press pause while you are driving, you can switch from the radio to the CD player (not real). If you pick the radio, the DJ's that say, "and this is our next song..." are all real! Some of the music is rap, some hip-hop,and some rock-and-roll.
________________________________________

CONTROLS: 10/10 The controls are simple.Right trigger for gas, left for brake,ECT. Every racing game should have controls like this.
________________________________________

GAMEPLAY: 9/10 This game is for pros, only.Instead of the usual, "finish in first" gameplay, you have to earn a certain number of Kudos. You can earn Kudos by catching air, driving fast through gates, not hitting traffic cones, and driving past other cars. You have to earn bronze, silver, and gold medals. For example,to get a bronze medal, score 300 Kudos.Silver,600.Gold, 1,000 or more. Also, this game is not gothic, despte it's name.Anyone can play.

Overall,Project Gotham Racing is the best racing game on Xbox, until PGR 2.Also,this game is a Xbox Platinum Hit,so it costs less than twenty dollars!

Tired of unrealistic hot weel type race car handling?

This is the the absolute best game if you want to experience the most realistic car handling and mechanics in any auto racing game to date. This game sets the bar for other games. The trackside geometry, realistic handling, and unlockable cars (which you will be awarded once you gain experience)makes this game my favorite and adds replay value over and over. This game is very challenging and at times can frustrate the hell out of you, but once you begin unlocking the cars, you get filled with a sense of pride and accomplishment. This game does have one distinct weak point that may affect some: the diffilculty. Yes, I said it before and I'll say it again, this game requires tons of patience and requires somewhat of a deep learning curve. Over all, this game is a necessity for all car enthusiast. Unless you like driving hot wheels or can't stand not being able to hang out the car and beat up inoccent bystanders with a bat.

This game is a total blast! The graphics are great and you can race in England, Japan, New York, or San Francisco. One of the raddest features is that you can create your own soundtrack off your CDs (see your X-Box user's guide, pretty simple). -Has a multiplayer setting, though visibility on your racetrack isn't as good as when you use the single player mode. Lots of sexy cars, but you have to work your way to them. Enjoy!

Don't believe that other guy.

Batman from Gotham city would make this game better

Excellent cars, excellent graphics, terrible game. The only joy I get when playing this game is knowing that when I turn it off "The Simpsons" will be on soon. O ya, and thanks for the kudos, I'd rather get socks from my grandma for doing a powerslide. I have more fun choosing a car on the select a car screen then actually racing the cars. I would rather race the car off a cliff than race it in those curvy, windy tracks of New York or San Fran or Tokyo. I would rather spend 50 bucks on buying some die cast cars from the ones in the game and rolling them around in my bedroom, then racing them in this game. I think that Project Gotham for the name of a game would be more fun if it had batman trying to fix these cars after they are raced, because they get so banged up, because it is virtually impossible to go around 3 consecutive turns without being spun around or crashing and losing my kudos. They make me cry because they take my kudos away from me when I crash. How awful! As you can see, I do not recommend this game. But I have to go and scratch the bottom of my Project Gotham disc now.

Buy This Game!

Don't listen to those dumb playstation fans. They have no idea what this game looks like,or plays like. I don't choose sides. I like all videogame consoles. I also owned most of them.Listen to me, an experienced game player when i say to buy this.
