Lamest of the Lame

I've played some very lame games but this game is realy bad.
All the cars suck in the beginning and it takes FOREVER to unlock other cars. If I could I wouldn't give this game any stars. THIS GAME SUCKS!

Overall, a good racing game. You will fing plenty of tracks, but most of them have some sort of simillarity with the other tracks in that particular city. I don't think you will enjoy playing 4 players without the link, the screens are too small. The cars are respectable, but not too many tracks allow you to get wide open, you know. I would buy it again. Aw yea, I consider myself to be a pretty good driver and unless you are better than me you will need the master code to unlock all the cars, 100.

Fantastic graphics. Let me reiterate: fan-tas-tic graphics.

And that is about all that can be said about it. Other than that, the game is HIGHLY disapointing. I even rented it a second time to make sure I was giving it a fair shake. I was.

The unlocking cars vs. a challenge argument...Personally, when I play Halo I want lots of guns, lots of ammo, lots of grenades and lots of things to shoot at. The concept that I would get a drving game to play three [bad] cars for the first N attempts to maybe get a fourth unlocked after much time and energy is ludicrous. Heck, if I had that ambition I could really work for one of those cars. Work is work, this is a video game. I will get my feeling of self-accomplishment from stomping someone into a track with a -45.2 time, not from finally being granted the privelage to do what the game advertises I will get to do.

And it wouldn't be as bad if the game wasn't rediculously hard. And I really enjoy challenge games from platform acrobats to figure-em-out puzzlers. But that is when the challenge is contextual, reasonable and worthwhile. This game is WAY stuck on itself and just stupidly hard for no legitimate reason and with no logical progression.

Also I was less than impressed with the kudos system. I mean, don't get me wrong, it is a real good idea and a nice change but FAR from saving this otherwise lost game.

I would equate this game to a movie like Twister, they are gonna knock your socks off with the visuals in hopes you will be too dazed to notice the real product.

A racing title not worthy of small dogs

The graphics on this game were simply stunning. However the gameplay not only left you with a bad taste in your mouth, you almost want to take it back to EB and get your refund. The Kudos system is far and away just annoying and I have yet to know anybody who could get past a Corvette in its hierachial list of cars (which only number at about 25 to begin with). Sometimes the Kudos aren't even banked into your total, and one minor bump into a red cone could mean redoing a 10 minute race in its entiety. Much like the frustrations of losing all your lives and having to start back at Level 1 such as in the old days of NES and Genesis. Multiplayer is simply horrid b/c you can only use the cars available to a single person's garage, which by the way, are totally uncustomizable...leaving you to race w/ only (commonly) 10 cars all of which are set in the before-mentioned hierachial status, so you either use a faster car and blow your friend in the dust or use the exact same car. Which is just plain dull. Multiplayer is also set up so that there is no help or time compression given to the guy behind 1st place, so anybody who makes so much as one mistake is doomed to losing the race, no matter how good you are...unless your opponent is even worse a driver than you anyway. If you have this game, sell it. If you want to buy this game, don't. Save your money for Sega GT 2002 if you want a good racing sim. It may be somewhat of a Gran Turismo clone, but it has its perks, and why not learn from the master, eh?

UNBEATABLE GRAPHICS! A MUST FOR XBOX OWNERS!

Awesome! You and three other friends can race against each other in the four-player split-screen mode. If you were impressed with GT3's graphics, you will be blown away with Project Gotham's!
Don't waste your time and money on Nintendo's GameCube or it's games. Xbox is clearly better.

Graphically good, game play okay

The graphics in this game are really nice, but the game play got old and frustrating very quickly. I have heard this game being compared to GT3 by the MicroSoft lacky's but I can tell you it is no where near the quality, depth and game play of GT. The car models are well done, but the AI and difficulty curve and controls were a bit half baked. I have not tried it with the wheel which I understand is a much better experience, but who wants to spend that much money on one game.

This was one of the first games I bought for Xbox, and it is amazing, gameplay and graphics are both amazing. It's true that unlocking all the cars is frustrating (you should get some of the lesser cars right away)but racing to get them is lots of fun, Best racing game around.

Can't Put It Down

Okay, I have to admit, I was and still am hyped about the XBox. I've had mine for about a week and I am totally blown away. It's a darn nice piece of hardware.

I purchased with Munch, Halo and Gotham Racing. I'm not sure how good the other two are since I haven't been able to put this game down. I've never really played a racing game before so I am not frustrated by not having all the cars at once. The control is excellent and the graphics are nothing short of amazing. I'd like to think that one would get tired of driving around a couple of really pretty tracks after a few days but for some reason, jamming along with my own tunes still hasn't gotten boring. This is a must own if you want to get a taste of the power of your XBox!

Great Game

I love it. But I hated the first time that I played with the regular Xbox control. After I bought a steering wheel (Thrustmaster), it turned into a completely different game. I agree with some of the other reviewers that the games starts to get too difficult towards the end. One of the tricks is that you can also unlock cars by getting to a certain number of kudos points. So just use a very fast car in one of the lower levels again and you'll get some kudos points really fast.

Nice Racing Game

This game has a nice feel. Its one of those games that doesn't make you sick of it after you play for three hours. Nice graphics and its fun to skid around the courses for style points.
