this game is pretty cool but could be better. Some of the events you have to do are stupid. But there is a fair share of great ones. The cool thing is that you can cruise around in a f50. If you are looking for a great racing game buy this one.
Pretty good.

This game is an ok game. The graphics are good, but the controls are horrible. It is not as good as Gran Turismo 3, but if you have a Xbox, this would be a good choice.

Racing games never appealed to me, until PGR came along. The kudos system looks weird at first, but once you get the hang of it, it's just pure fun. It beats just running around in laps competing on time alone. I just wish there were more courses/cities to race on.

Playing Project Gotham Racing is a blast. If you are looking for a simulation engine or a crazy taxi engine then PGR is prob. not your best choice. However, if you are looking for a good combo sim/fun than PGR is right for you. The gfx. rock, the sound rocks and the game play is awseom.
Con - No manual tran. in multiplayer. Not Good.
But, overall super fun.

This racing game is one of the best ones I've ever played, if not THE best. Here's some of the points that make PGR great:
1. Car models are great, great-sounding realistic cars.
2. The difficulty is ramped just so, so your skill in the game progresses enough so when you get to the harder levels you don't just kill yourself over it(until you get to the bonus level heh).
Each subsequent level is just hard enough. Hard enough so that you feel like you accomplished something cool when you unlock the next car or when you hit 100,000 total kudos.
3. One of the reasons why I could never find Gran Turismo fun is because the game is TOO realistic. It gets to the point where it seems that mere millimeters off the driving line will get you smoked by all the AI racers. PGR's physics are calibrated to perfection: there's at least a little bit of sympathy when you go off the driving line. And another thing about GT is that at times, your car is practically uncontrollable. PGR, on the other hand, has car physics that are BELIEVABLE and CONTROLLABLE, not 100% realistic and 100% uncontrollable. I think if more racing games had a physics goal like Gotham everyone would be happy.
4. This game is great for 4-player late-night gaming parties. Just pure fun.
If you own an Xbox, and you like racing games, get this. It's right up there with Halo in quality.

Before I begin, I should note that I despise racing games and tend to have general dislike for games remotely in their genre. I would also like to note that PGR is NOT a racing game. Though it has many instances where you do race, the core gameplay centers on a combo system, not unlike a fighting game's, that makes the game extremely addictive. It is not how fast you drive, but how you drive fast. Though the game can get VERY frustrating at times, always making you strive for perfection, PGR is a highly rewarding experience and gives you much to work for and look forward to. The cars, albeit small in number, are beautifully rendered and the overall presentation of the game is very well done. Playing your own music is also a welcome option, though you tend to not hear much of the songs because you are constantly restarting the level in order to reach the perfection that the game DEMANDS! Like me, you do not have to like cars or racing games at all to enjoy the splendor of PGR. You simply need PERFECTION!
More frustrating than fun...

Believe the other reviews: the game is gorgeous and quite fun at first, but becomes simply frustrating at the mid-to-higher levels; it's hard to believe PGR was gameplay tested.
I don't know about you, but my motivation for buying a racing game is to drive exotic cars - I can buy a Ford Focus in real life, I can't buy a Carrera GT.
PGR makes it nearly impossible to earn the kinds of cars I was actually interested in driving. Of course, there is the cheat key, but cheats are unsatisfying. I'd like to 'earn' the rewards, but I also appreciate a fair shot at it.
As an example: in order to win good cars, you need to earn medals. To earn medals in racing mode (there's also a tricks mode, e.g.) you must beat a pack of CPU controlled
cars to the finish line. Fine. Except, you'll notice, that no matter what car you are driving (and have earned thus far), you will race against a couple cars that _flat out have better performance_. And, you start the race in last place. So, the race starts, and you find the "better" cars blowing you away right off the bat because they accelerate better. They also corner better than you can and the CPU always takes a near perfect line on the turns, so catching up becomes a matter of luck (hoping the fast cars hit one another).
I found the only way to have a chance on some of the harder levels is to cause chaos at the start of the race, and somehow sneak into first. Then, box people out for the rest of the race.
A simple mistake and...RESET! Because once you're passed by a CPU car, there's NO HOPE of winning!
The irony is, the performance difference between the worst car (mini-cooper) and the cars you'll race against is minor...whereas, the difference between some higher end cars is HUGE! So, in order to win medals, I often needed to use the cooper instead of, say, my corvette. Is that fun???
I think this game would be fun if there was an "Easy/Medium/Hard/Insane" level setting at the beginning; as you can probably imagine, I feel PRG has only one setting: "Insane", especially at the end when you want to earn the cool cars.
If you're anything like me, you'll get to a point where you have to hit the restart-race button about 100 times until you finally give up in disgust, a few medals shy of your Ferrari.
Excellent play but Difficult

PGR plays really well. The details of the cars and cityscapes are absolutley gorgeous. I also like the fact the game rewards quickly with new cars and tracks. However, the game gets really, really tough towards the end. But, if you like running wide open through town and racking up points for how much air you can get on a jump, getting on two wheels, or holding that power slide just a few extra feet, then partner this is your game. Would give 5 stars if it weren't for almost impossible ending.
awesome
