This game has "wasted" a lot of my valuable time. I'm only about 1/3 of the way through the courses and I'm finding it very challenging.
A realistic and fun game

All I gotta say is that this game really is worth the five stars. The only review that tore down the game acted like it had a really tough learning curve. Well, if you write your review ten minutes after getting the game, then sure, it's tough. The first 20 minutes are challenging, but then again, what game isn't challenging in the first 20 minutes. After you get the hang of it, it's really cool. The controls couldn't be any simpler. I honestly don't see how it could be overwhelmingly hard, but, I dunno.
a great racing experience

I bought project gotham not too long ago for my xbox. it is needless to say one of the best racing games of all time! graphics are phenomenal and push the xbox near the limits but still everything runs as smooth as possible. there are never slow parts of the game. also, the selection of cars and tracks is unbeatable on any other console game. i would reccomend this to anyone who has a xbox.
Too much time but a great game

I bought this game about four days ago and have played it for about 10 hours. Just the fact that I can play it that much tells me it's a great game, however, in that 10 hours I have only unlocked 8 tracks and 2 cars (and a couple helmets). The game gets ridiculously hard after you get all the silver medals. The graphics are amazing and the courses are a lot of fun, I just wish unlocking new stuff was easier. All in all fun to play for one or multiplayer, very pretty, and...challenging.
Real Driving. Really Cool. Really Cheap.

This game is very easy to get into. It's a totally different racing game. This may be the racing game for people who don't necessarily like racing games. There may not be too many cars to customize or too many locations, but if you are just interested in the simulation, then this game is everything you need. You don't just race to beat the clock or to win first. It's more of a just-how-well-can-you-drive-really-fast game. But you know what? That is what's so cool about it! It feels like really driving at high speeds. Even the controls are set up that way: left top button to brake, right top button for gas. In this game, you get points for driving well. If you pass drivers up, you get points. You make a hard turn perfectly, you get points. You go through cones at blazing speeds, you get points. Imagine driving over 100 mph and trying not to crash! This is what the game feels like! For some it may be frustrating. It is easy to make points, but it is also very easy to miss out on them. If you crash into something, you lose those points. You can get point rich combos too. But if you accidently hit something like a wall or a cone, you lose them on that turn... yeah it sucks, but it makes the game pretty exciting. You'll find yourself shouting out loud and you will want to restart the race just to get those points. The graphics are cool, the music is cool, and the game play is cool. Much like other racing games, the more you race, the more you unlock. If you don't give up easily, you'll find yourself playing this one for a very long time. The game is well worth its current cost, but you may want to consider just buying the sequel. It looks about the same, but has more goodies like online play, way more cars and way more tracks. But for less than twenty bucks, this game is great!
Its tough!

Fun game, but it gets frustratingly tough later during the play. And winning gold medals is way too difficult, unless you're a ace driver.
Cranky AI. For example, the AI cars will follow an ideal path and if you get in their way, you better be ready for a full on crash from them. Or in many tracks the AI cars will whip around a particular bend a particular way and again if you're in their way... kiss the race good-bye.
I've had it for a few weeks now, but i'll trade it in today for the new PGR2. Hopefully it'll be a little more intelligent.

If you like racing sim's, this is the best one I've ever come across. I was amazed at how realistic the graphics, sound, and competition was. Check out all the trailers on xbox.com, gamespot.com, etc. Most of the movies you see are the replays. WHen you play the game, first person view is perfect. I'm the type that plays the game, but doesn't watch the replays... they just take up time to me. But this one, I love watching the replay... it looks so real. The way the car reacts, it's slick. The most telling thing to me: at the start of a race, I was side-by-side with another car and kept tapping him... he kept trying to edge away, but it's like the AI got t'd off and tried to ram me into the wall. SUPER game.
MSR re-release as PGR

This game is exciting and fun to play. However, it is a re-release of the Dreamcast's Metropolis Street Racer (MSR). Personaly I like the game play of MSR better. The breaking in Project Gotham Racing (PGR)is too sharp. So sliding while breaking into turns is hard to accomplish. The thing I dislike the most is that the cars get damaged and banged up when you crash. Driving a Porsche with side view mirrors busted up and busted tail lights is not visually pleasing. I like looking and driving the cars when they are shinny and new. The damage does not affect the performance of the cars. I don't understand why Bizare Creations decided to include this feature (big mistake).
The other negative about the game play is that the cars fly in the air if your going down hill. They call this "catching air". Basically when this happens the car becomes difficult to handle. The other is sliding into turns on two wheels. The car also becomes difficult to handle.
Overall the game is fun, but if you already own MSR for the dreamcast, you might not be very excited about PGR for the Xbox. On a scale of 1-5 I give PGR 3.5 stars.
Pros: great graphics, music (ability to burn favoret music on Xbox hard drive and listen to them while playing game).
Cons: Re-release of popular Dreamcast MSR, damage to cars when you crash is not fun to look at, new game play additions (flying in the air, breaking too sharp, etc.).

This is a very fun racing game...once you get used to the gameplay. This game isn't for the "All Accelerator..No Brake" race fan..you really have to learn how to drive the car. I would say the initial learning curve is about 2 hours. But after that, the Kudos point system makes this game a blast!
This game is pretty good

Out of all the games I've played (besides maybe HALO) this is the best. It's really a lot of fun and doesn't take that much time to unlock the sweet cars.
