Different, yet fun

I have played all racing games from rad racer to the ever popular Gran Turismo series. However, I find that Gotham racing gives me what I want most from a racing game: the ability to have fun. Most people who say the game is difficult need to give it a really good look. Yes, you must unlock cars by gaining kudos but the game give you several opportunities to do so. Plus, some items are unlocked just by the amount of time you play and the number of miles you have in the game. Besides, what other racing games allows you to create your own music selection from cd's you ripped to the Xbox harddrive. This game rocks. Now back to jamming Mystikal while i tear up the streets of New York.

Comercials can be decieving...

The one thing I can say is to rent it before buying. Luckly I didn't shell out [the money] because it is not worth it. The biggest prolem is you cannot customize the cars which will leave you wanting more. The game becomes increasingly difficult to an almost imposible point. I got boarded quikly and got the cheat to get all cars and levels. The cars are beautiful, but you do not buy them or customize them the way you want. The best par is the levels, there are an incredible amount and it is almost imposible to try them all.

Can't even touch Gran Turismo

I bought this game and in short, I don't like. The gameplay is limited. Sure, the graphics are good and your car is realistically beat up at the end of the races, but there are many shortcomings. There aren't many tracks, cars or options to change. You can't mod cars. You don't have to earn licenses. You get Kudos points for slides, which I think is silly. Racing should be the point of the game. There are no sponserships or real circuits. Aside from the graphics, the game is just plain weak.

The game is fun and a good choice for a xbox newbie. I dont understand why I have to win so many races and challenges to unlock a beetle ;-(.

This was my first dip into online gaming and I loved it. It gets boring after a while since things get overly complex.

This racing game is great. The only flaw i've seen in it (it didnt bug me at all) was when you are going fast the car's image blurrs some. The gameplay is fun. the tracks are sweet!

While starting out in this game is fun, mainly because it is actually possible to win races/challenges, the later part of the game is very hard, and quite unrewarding. The reward for placing first in all races in a category is a new car, often not any better than the car that you already have. Even when a new car is recieved, the competition gets BETTER cars, thus making this game very hard, and the only reward for doing good is a punishment of racing harder cars. The turning is not very realistic, with a main strategy I used was ramming a car as hard as I could when he/she went into a corner, and hoping I didn't spin out. The computer AI is atrocious, with computer cars following the EXACT same line EVERY FREAKIN' RACE. The AI does not race, and if one car happens to get out ahead of the pack, he can get MINUTES ahead of the pack.

While some like the difficulty, I find racing the same race over and over and over again for an hour extremely boring and frustrating when I win and get a new car that is no better than the one I already have.

Bottom Line: Not a genuine racing game, the rewards [stinks], the racing is next to nonexistant with the AI, and it is frustratingly boring...Do yourselves a favor and get ANY Gran Turismo, even if you have to buy a new system.

I hate this game.

I love racing games but hated this one. Sure, the graphics are terrific but the gameplay and control is terrible. I got sick of slamming into the buildings all the time on the turns. And what's with this "earning kudos" [stuff]? I got a code to unlock all the cars, and even driving the Ferrari F50 wasn't all that fun. Nascar Heat and Nascar Thunder are much more fun racing games.

CORVETTE Z06 IS SUPPOSED TO BE INCOMPARABLE. IF THIS IS TRUE WHY DOES THE FERRARI F50 END UP SMOKING AND LEAVING THE Z06 IN A TRAIL OF DUST?

I did not like this game almost AT ALL when I first got it due to the difficulty. I kept riding a Audi TT Roadster and was during horribly in the races. I then tried to use the faster cars and just get used to the terrible handling of the fast ones and then did this game turn around.....It soon became the ONLY game I was playing out of many XBOX games in which I own. One complaint I have is that you can't race at night in the quick race mode, and I am not sure if you can in the regular mode.....Night is the best because the graphics really shine with all the building lights on....

But I really prefer Rally racing...
If you like racing around real cities, and lots of them, in real cars then this game is fun, but you can't upgrade cars.
You can race a mini cooper though, which is awesome!
