I put of getting this game for a while now based on the past reviews that i read on amazon on this game. That was untill i read the excellent review in the xbox magazine and discussed it with a friend who brought the game the day it was released.
This really was a case of listening to too many negative responses, wanting this game to be the messiah of games, (which it aint), and basing my views on others. So what is the game like :
Honestly, from a gamer who has been playing every game on the xbox this is a classic. First of all the game play is immersive and gets your blood going. The 'focus' and combo moves are easy to use and though i can't work out why they didnt use the left trigger to fire as per usual, i can't complain. The controls take a little time to get the hang off, (but then don't most new game controls), and the system is brillant at being able to make up for your mistakes at times when using focus. Meaning that at times when i leapt of a wall and went to hit a guard but knew that i had missed the control goes on auto and smacks him anyway providing some brillant moves that you can't help but go 'WOW, DID I DO THAT'? at.
The graphics are good, they certainly arent as bAd as some players go on about and i love graphics over gameplay. For me the best games are the ones that are graphically enhanced and keep my visual stimulte going. I mean if i just wanted games for excellent gameplay and not graphics id buy a PS2. At times it can get a bit 'blocky' but overall the graphics are excellent and i thought the whole atmosphere complimented the overall feeling of the two movies.
As others have mentioned the cut scenes are top notch and really show how these games should be made. It was enthralling to get every bit of story and it really is the best i can think of to actually watching a movie and playing in it.
So, gameplay was good, graphics excellent and cut scenes brillant,(if not the only way these games should go with telling storylines).
However, with the good there is bad and these are few and far between for me. First of the car sequence was terrible. It really was shocking and will go down in history as the worse driving play ever. I played as both characters and had the chance to both drive or shoot, (if u play one character , Niobe, your driving, the other, Ghost. you shooting), and for me shooting was too simple and driving too hard, (but thats just me). However either way it just sucks, its short, lame and really seems like a quick add on to the game. It also interupts your motion with the shooting, focus, combo parts. I just started getting use to the system and they shove in a car sequence, ( and a really bad one at that), that breaks the momentum.
The AI are a bit weak and all the gamers that go on about them are right but once again this didn't distract me from the overall enjoyment of the game. Some levels seem impossible, some are so easy its just a matter of getting from here to there. Once you get use to the controls your set.
Finally one last piece of advice. U SEE A AGENT...RUNNNNN!!!!!
Buy the game , its good, it looks fine and its not that hard to play ......
Enter the Matrix!!!!!!

What a great game. When I saw the previews I thought it would be alright. But when I opened the package and put it in my Xbox I couldn't get off it. If you want a good action game this is it.
Great game but has it's downfalls.

It was ok, not the best but pretty good. It had a very good plot and followed the movie well. The slow mo kung fu, diving shooting moves are amazing, but after a while you get bored of them. There is no multiplayer co-op mode or vs. mode. But at the end I was kinda dissapointed because when I beat the last level I was left wanting to play more.
Excellent! But too short!

No doubt that this was one of the most anticipated games of the year, and I think it has totally lived up to the expectation.
The action on this game is brilliant, no other game has come close to making the fighting look so good. It has over 2,000 moves on this game.
The 'bullet time' is a good touch, the way they make it look is close to what it looks like on the movie, and you can also make the kung-fu moves look excellent.
The driving and flying levels are a bit dull, but you should get a little bit of enjoyment out of it.
But a BIG letdown on this game is how short it is. I finished it over a weekend, and the other difficulties are about the same length, it doesnt have many levels, which are short because your saving every 3 minutes. Another letdown is, around the last 3 levels of the game, all your doing is running from agents, and you cant kill them so all you do is run, which is very frustrating!
But overall, it is a must-play game, but its not worth your money due to the length of the game.
Play this game NOW!

Best game of the year. Period. Gameplay is amazing, cutscenes are very cool, and graphics are incredible. The game supports 1080i resolution. What does that mean? Follow these steps:
1. If you have an HDTV, keep reading. If you don't, buy one now to play this game on. You'll be glad you did.
2. Buy the Monster Xbox gaming cables for an HDTV.
3. Connect said cables to TV, completely [bling] out the graphics, and watch this game come alive in progressive scan mode. Amazing!
Anyone who knocks this game visually is playing it on an inferior TV. You really have to have an HDTV to appreciate the visuals and sound effects in the game. Using the cables that came with the Xbox just doesn't do this game justice.
Anyone who says the game is short hasn't tried playing it on hard mode, or tried the hacking feature, or bought the strategy guide that helps you unlock a TON of cool stuff.
Get this game. Savor it. Play it endlessly. And see just how far the rabbit hole goes!
Wow, this is [garbage]!

Compared to today's standards, this simply dosn't compete with other soon to be available xbox games. Its a real shame too, because it could have been awesome given a better developer. I finished the game in only 6 hours! It tries to do to much in one game, driving, bullet time, kung fu, etc... Some of the game development concepts like locking you in a room with a helicopter are extremly dated. Oh well, at least the movie was good.

Coolest game ever!!! use "Focus" moves to slow down time and pull off awesome stunts like wall-runs and amazing flips to dodge bullets. The graphics are really good and the music is ok. The only snag is if you are an unexperienced gamer like myself u may find this game hard or frustrasting even in easy mode. Aside from this Enter the Matrix RULES!!! Definitely rent it or buy it today!
Where's the Gameplay?

I'll be completely honest with you, the only part I enjoyed is the 'hacking' section, which doesn't last long. I just found the rest of the game to be dull, or positively boring.
First off, the graphics are horrid. Remember that great scene in the first Matrix where it was the first time you ever saw an agent dodge bullets? Remember how cool that looked? In the game he just kind of leans to one side while a shiny rock thuds against the wall next to him. Remember seeing Morpheus get digitized into the phone in the subway? Well in the game there are 'power outages' when the characters exit the Matrix, meaning they're standing there with the phone, the lights go out, and then they're gone. Not only does that happen in the live action footage, but in the CG as well.
I found the hand-to-hand combat engine to be completely off the mark. It's anything but intuitive (as once promised); rather its just a collection of moves that get repetitive after awhile. Plus the collision and clipping errors were anything but far and few between. The 'focus,' ie bullet time, was OK, but I had a lot more fun with it in Max Payne. Running up walls was great fun, along with doing the one handed cartwheel.
I won't say anything about the, ahem, 'driving' levels.
However, my biggest gripe with this game is that there is no game. Here's the typical level:
introduction movie, run through the level (following an ARROW, for pete's sake, which takes all the joy of discovery out of it), kill a couple of people, cutscene plays, repeat.
The game almost seems like an excuse to watch scenes which SHOULD HAVE BEEN in the movie!
I'm a MAJOR Matrix fan, and buying the game and then seeing the movie literally the next day really killed my spirts. I found them to both be very disappointing. Perhaps the movie would've been the least bit more interesting if the scenes in the game (which all involve characters that are only featured in the film for several minutes) had been put in the film.
It almost seems as if the Wachowski Brothers had a great idea that would fit into one movie, so they did several things - break it up into two movies, the first of which is pure fluff for the second; make a game featuring cutting room floor footage (ya ya, I know, the footage was specifically shot for the game, humor me); and take one of the most integral parts of the backstory, turn it into a CGI anime, and play it in front of, of all movies, Dreamcatcher?
Sounds like a shattered dream, to me.
All round good game

Ok, who is bored of a game with tons of gore and huge guns?
I am. If i was new to the xbox i would buy the title halo, seeing that its graphics, gameplay, and story are some of the greatest ive ever seen.
back to the point.
Enter the matrix has brilliant graphics, brilliant gameplay, the story from the matrix(Brilliant), and a focus mode(slow motion)(brilliant). so if you just got an xbox get either halo or enter the matrix.
sweet
