This so-called halo-killer was sad in comparison. Lame graphics, pathetic story, & characters no one cared about. Worst game Ever.

Fun Strategy

I've already played this game through once on easy mode, and it was okay. Basically, I didn't really use all the manuevers at my command. I all did with it was run and shoot. Now, I'm playing through Brutal Mode, and trying to use complete stategy while playing. Hawks invisibility helps locate where the enemy's are giving early intel. Brutus allows for seeing further in the darkness or mist, allowing Flint to stand next to him and shoot what he sees. Tex is more of a fall back character for me though, he's tough, but in Brutal mode, he's sorta the last resort guy. The ability to place your squad where you want them can become really advantageous. Flint snipes from a high position, while Brutus and Tex surround the opening, and then Hawk lures the enemies into the open. It has really cool graphics, and if played strategically, it can be quite a challenge.

Some things are hard to find though, but once all the enemy have been destroyed, you can generally go back and look for whatever to achieve your secondary objectives.

It can be played as either a shooter game, or a strategy game. Your choice. I love it. Brutal Mode is hard though.

I decided to buy it after I played this game at my friends once. IF YOU DON'T ALREADY OWN THIS GAME, BUY IT!!!!

UPSIDE: it's cool when you get the multiplayer characters, there's a big variety; I like the squad deathmatch where you can command a group of people( not only Brute Force, but other squads like rebels too) into battle and blow the....out of other people. Each person has a unique ability, dual wielding, invisibility, etc. the graphics are really good, and the gameplay is pretty darn good too if you ask me. though it's really fun when you use cheats, not to beat the game but to have some fun whether before or after game completion.

DOWNSIDE: It's really fun untill you get to the lava levels, very boring and very hard to beat, not to mention really long(the first one is 6 chapters!).And honestly the multiplayer maps get real boring, real fast. it's also a pain having to get DNA canisters to unlock characters, some are really hard 2 find, also if you don't have all the DNA's in a squad, you can't play that squad(e.g. in the Feral squad there's the Feral Outcast, Feral Shaman, and two other feral dudes and unless you unlock all four of them you can't play their squad!). it can be a pain to find all the things for objectives A.K.A. the suitcases!!! And certain characters can pick up certain weapons, Hawk, the small girl with invisibility, can only pick up a handgun and a medium sized gun!

NOTE:the next paragraph is optional reading.

CHEATS: some cheats i can't get to work though. create a new profile and type the cheat as it's name. HVYMTL changes the graphics to an almost 2d state, it's cool. some cheats you have to beat the game, amd get all the DNA canisters with a non cheat profile, but i just beat the game, without getting ALL the DNA canisters and some of them worked.the wierd part about the cheats is that some of the cheats like VENGAR and GARVEN are sapposed to effect Brutus, one of the main characters, like make him more powerful and change his appearance, but they don't.

And that's why i gave it a 4.7/5 but we can round to 5/5. Either way it's a good game and all of you should buy it.

Brute Force is a good game by most standards, but too many flaws make Brute Force seem like a missed opportunity

When I first bought Halo 1 and watched the stunningly amazing trailer for this game, I had long anticipated the release of Brute Force. On release day, I bought this game without hesitation. But I wish I would have waited to read reviews. As I said, this game definately had potential; but it just seems unpolished and definately didn't live up to the high expectations I had set for this game.

The core gameplay consists of controlling four elite supercommandos, each with their own unique special abilities. Tex is a tough soldier whose specialty is using dual weapons. Brutus, an alien creature, is the toughest soldier and his special ability is thermal vision, which enables him to see enemies in the dark. He also has the ability to charge enemies, which has a fatal effect. Flint is a long-range sniper whose speciality is target-locking. Hawk is a small, but tough soldier who can become invisible and sneak up on enemies and offer a silent, but deadly kill with her powerblade. The squad command system is easy to use and it enables you to instantly switch between soldiers in your squad and also allows you to issue commands to your squadmates. This makes the game seem like it would be tactical like Rainbow Six. But it definately is not; it is much more of a run and gun shooter where you run through the levels shooting at anything that moves.

The graphics in the game are very good and definately get the job done, especially in HD. Each member of your squad is very detailed and definately give them a life-like look. The environments also look good and make each level seem unique and different. The enemies are sort of hit and miss. Sometimes close up they will look stunning; other times they will look blotchy and unpolished. But overall, the visuals are pretty good.

The sound is good, but not great. The weapons sound good for the most part, but they will occasionally sound flat and unrealistic. Explosions and grenades look pretty good, but they sound unconvincing. Overall, the sound gets the job done, but it doesn't really draw you in like it should.

The value of this game is decent. The single player doesn't really offer much replayability, but the multiplayer is fun & the Xbox Live action can be exciting. For the bargain price of $10 - $15 that this game sells for, it is probably worth your money; but the game is definately not worth any more than $20.

Now, with all the good things I have mentioned above, you are probably wondering why I gave this game a lower score. For the most part, it is because of the combined overall experience of this game. The storyline is pretty lame and boring, and it doesn't really pull you into the action. All you will find yourself doing is not even paying attention to the story and simply running through the levels with your guns blazing. And without a good story at the core of a game, it definately brings down the overall experience of it. It also makes the game not very intriguing and it won't have you running back for more. Also, the missions don't have a lot of variability and will get repetitive, bringing down what could have been a much better game.

Bottomline: Brute Force is a suitable shooter on most counts, offering exciting action and a very good shooting experience; but with a disappointing storyline and an overall mediocre experience, it simply seems like a missed opportunity.

Good but not the greatest

This game is good but not the best co-op game i've played splinter cell chaos theory is. But this is fun and for that guy who thought that you could only give commands to one person at a time thats not true what you have to do is highlight the person you are being and then a list of commands will come up and then highlight your whole team and give the order it does work and makes the game a bit more tactical. I do like this game and its fun to play with friends.

good overall

The first thing I have to say about this game is: This is not a first person shooter. It is a third person shooter like GTA. This game can get boring a little fast, but it has some cool features: Two different types of multiplayer; one you can go against a friend and you would each have a squadron and the other is just a head-to-head match. Each character has a special ability. Tex can take out two weapons, Flint has a auto aim, Brutus has this weird heat-sensing thing and Hawk has a stealth mode. Each person can only take two guns. There is also a co-op mode aswell.

BRUTE FORCE ISN'T WHAT I HAD EXPECTED

After watching the video for this game, I had been excited for the release of this game. The day it came out, I ran to Toys R' Us to buy it. But it definately wasn't what I had expected. The whole four person squad is a great feature, don't get me wrong. You can instantly switch between a four elite supercommandos, each with their own special ability. Tex is a tough soldier whose specialty is using dual weapons. Brutus, an alien, is the toughest soldier and his special ability is being able to see anything with a special vision that makes enemies stand out in bright orange. He can also charge at opponents and kill them. Flint is a long-range sniper whose speciality is target-locking. Hawk is a small, but tough soldier who can become invisible and sneak up on opponents and slice them with her powerblade. The weapons in this game are pretty cool and the sound is great. But the storyline is kind of boring. Here is how I rate the game:

Overall: 7 / 10
Gamplay: 6 / 10
Graphics: 8 / 10 (the stongpoint of the game)
Storyline: 4 / 10 (very disappointing)
Value: 5 / 10 (Not worth the $50.00 I spent)
Sound: 7 / 10

If the storyline could be a little bit more intriguing, this game would definately be 4 stars. But even with a better story, this game still wouldn't be great. The third person aspect isn't my favorite. The enemies are strange and not well explained. The sound is decent, but seems like someone accidently forgot to polish them up. The grenades visuals are very good, but the sound is horrid. The weapons have a flat sound to them. But the music during the game is good and the voice acting is great. The missions in the game are very straight forward and they do not really change over the course of the game. They begin to get repetive. Also, the game is set in six different worlds with 18 different missions. But the missions on each world are identical. It seems like somebody didn't even change the layout of them when they progressed to a new mission. This game did not live up to my expectations.

Save your money on this game: just rent it. Don't buy it. This game is fun and the graphics are the core of what keeps you playing; but with the combination of a poor storyline and repetive gameplay make this game not worth buying. This game is ok to rent though. I was very disappointed with Microsoft Game Studios when they realeased this game. The graphics are good, but with the poor storyline, this game is definately not one of my all-time favorites. Save your money: DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH BUYING THIS GAME.

Nice Multiplayer co-op, game falls a little short.

I am always looking for MULTIPLAYER co-op games and so was extremely excited to find this one and it had good reviews. My first reaction to the game was, mixed. The graphics could have been better and the camera angle takes some getting use to, its set just behind the character. But the co-op multiplayer, with up to 4 players was real cool!

There are 4 characters each with a different ability and weaponry to match. You can only pick up guns that fit your characters style. You can swap between them all in battle and give the rest commands to follow. Like I said this is great.

The weapons are boring and are #'s not namesso its hard to tell what they are. I still barely know. The best thing about the game is the squad based fighting and the multiplayer. If it was not for that I would have been seriously disappointed. The missions become repetitive and for some reason you keep going back to this cycle of worlds over and over.

Overall I give it 3 stars because the game is great for multiplayer squad based combat but it falls short in graphics, weapons and enemies and story.

Its pretty cheap to buy used, I would recommend picking it up for around $10.

Brute Force is an action shooter for the Xbox. Many people compare this game to Halo, but it's an unfair comparison. Halo is a FPS and Brute force is a third-person squad action game. There's lots of weapons and medkits to use. Brute Force can be compared to the game; Conflict Desert Storm. You'll have control over four characters: Tex- tough guy with big guns, Brutus- a reptilian warrior with self-heal abiltiy, Hawk- a female able to cloak and kill with an energy blade and lastly, Flint- an android with perfect sniping skills. You can issue simple commands, such as hold, cover, move to and fire at will. You can take control of them individually, pair them off or order them as a group. The A.I. just automatically begins to fire when they see enemies, you cannot set the rules of engagement. However the action is excellent and the graphics are beautiful and have lush alien worlds, the sound effects, controls and action are just right. Even though the levels are all linear and a bit repetative. Brute Force is an excellent game, and I wish they make a sequal.

Pros:
+excellent action
+excellent graphics
+excellent sound effects
+excellent music
+excellent level design
+excellent controls
+excellent voice-acting
+lots of weapons

Cons:
-repetative gameplay
-linear levels
-rules of engagement cannot be set

NOTE: There is a book based on this game also called "Brute Force", it is a excellent as the game and suggest you pick it up.

I loved this game, but the whole thing about the destroying monsters gets repetitive and linear. Also there is is basically NO bosses! Whats up with that.......you think they'd put a little challenge into it! But this rest is awesome! So check it out, Brute Force.
