Another Truly Amazing Zelda Game

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 0 / 2

I have had Ocarina of Time, Zelda DX, and Majora's Mask...and undoubtedly, this is definitely a great addition. The entire game is filled with different, and challenging puzzles on each of it's 64 squares of game play (on the sea chart). The characters are well designed and occasionally throw a bit of humor into the game. I have yet to finish the game, and it seems to me that I'm not already half-way through it and it's already been a month. It's not one of those types of games where you can easily beat it in a few weeks and be done with it. For those of you who previously owned another Zelda game, you know what I mean. If you're debating whether or not to get this game, buy it and you won't regret it. It's probably one of the best (if not the best) of the Zelda series.

The legend continues

I have just completed the Wind Waker adventure and can tell you without hesitancy that this game deserves to be part of anyone's Gamecube collection.

The plot is basically universal, save the damsel in distress and repel the evil from the land; the difference is the extraordinarily ingenious way this adventure was designed. It's fun, it's big, maybe frustrating for some, but it is definitely entertaining and worthy of a purchase.

What separates this adventure game from the rest is, among many other things, the non-linear design, meaning that you don't necessarily have to follow a straight, exact path to complete the quest. There are always alternative methods of doing things such as defeating an opponent or solving a puzzle.

Having an open ended world may be a blessing or a curse. If you get stuck, you may start wandering all around looking for clues all around, and let me warn you, the world is vast. On the other hand, you may take advantage of this, and use a break from the main adventure to take on the many fun side quests in order to obtain additional useful items and hints.

You will need some time, a lot of time, to finish this game; you shouldn't expect to complete it in one sitting or even on a weekend (unless you are going to play with an "official" guide beside you).

One important aspect of this game to consider is that you need to work for even the most insignificant item; nothing is given away for the taking. The good news is that completing the quest is not impossibly difficult, and being a game jockey is not required. All puzzles are logical, witty, increasingly difficult but very well thought.

You don't need to be a Zelda fan to appreciate this game, although for us veterans, the overall feel was very familiar. The addition of the wind factor and using the sea as part of the adventure was fantastic and made it much more interesting.

The Zelda series has always been distinguished for being very musically oriented, and this game is no exception. The music is superb; the fighting scenes are greatly enhanced with sounds depending on how well or bad you are performing.

Visually, the game is beautiful, there's night and day, there's rain and sun, different moon phases, plus there's lightning and storms. Graphic textures are very real and the cartoonish effects are simply astounding, as if it was an interactive movie.

The game dialogues are the only thing that have room for improvement. Nintendo kept the old text based dialogues instead of using voices. Voice effects were limited to a few grunts, "hmmphs" and "ohhhs" (and "thank you's!!")

In summary, a very special game, delivering exactly what is expected from the Zelda adventures, suitable for old fans and people new to the series.

A sure thing, 5 stars.

Zelda might be a princess, but the game is King!!!

I have to say that when it comes to video games, I can be a tough critic because I get sick of video games fast. The Zelda franchise has always been special too, even though there was the Majoras Mask that didn't really work too well, but the other games, especially "A Link To The Past" for the super nintendo, have been something special. With the latest installment, The Wind Waker, Nintendo has definetly made something special. As I started playing this game, I was able to get into the story and like it okay, but as soon as the game really picked up, I was so engaged by it. After playing it for a while, I was worried that I was going to finish the game too soon, because I was having so much fun. My best friend who also loves the game told me that even though I was really far along the journey, I was only about 1/4th of the way through, and that it just gets tougher and tougher. I was so excited to hear that news. The Wind Waker is full of excitement and adventure, and some fun little laughs along the way. For all of you big time video game nerds that take things way too seriously, so what if the shading makes the game seem more like a cartoon than trying to make it as realistic as possible. It isn't going to help you get a date or improve your life anymore than it would if it was realistic looking. Nintendo has scored big with it. I hope that it won't be too long before we see another Zelda game come along for the Gamecube.

Wind Waker Review

I think The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker is one of the best Zelda games created yet... I think it is better than Oot.
But i do wish that the game had more islands with people to talk to on them then just bad guys. I know a lot of people dont like the graphics, and at first i didnt either... i remember i thought the old graphics were soo cool and then they changed and i thoguht the game would be bad... btu now that i have played it i am glad they changed the graphics and after a few minutes you dont even realize the change... I also liked the storyline but i wish there was more to it and i do miss being in Hyrule. But the fact that this game was a sequeal to Ocarina of Time was cool instead of having the same storyline, even though this game didnt have the same amount of dungeons or that it didtn take place in Hyrule doesnt mean that it wasnt a classic Zelda game. To me, this is probably my favorite Zleda game yet.

hmmmmmmm...

The gameplay for this is game pretty good but I think the graphics really shot this game.... It is pretty fun (not as good as the Ocarina of Time but there aren't many games that are) but as I said before the graphics look like [crud]. I don't know what Shigero Myamoto (forgive me if I spelled that wrong) was thinking when he approved the cell-shading thing. Who the [heck] cares about Links...emotions? But as I said before it is pretty fun. If I were you I'd rent it.

Great Game, classic zelda gameplay

At first, i didn't think this game was going to be as great as Ocarina Of Time. After playing for like 10 to 15 hours i said to myself: "It isn't as good as OOT, but is still a fantastic zelda game". Every little detail found in previous zelda games is thrown back in this one, and they fit perfectly well. My only complain is that the bosses are way too easy and you almost never die. But still i would recommend it to anyone looking for the perfect game to keep you busy for a couple of weeks or so.

Can somebody say OVERRATED?

Before you skip this review just because "I don't like the graphics", let me tell you my smallest gripe with the Legend of Zelda: The Wind waker is the graphics.

First of all, the gameplay is similar to Ocarina of Time, and it could've stayed the same way. But no, Nintendo had to switch to this new "stealth" crap. Now, before you get all exicted that "Zelda's going to play like Metal Gear Solid and Splinter Cell!", let me tell you a little something: It doesn't. Instead, I'm treated to sitting in a barrel next to a guard that will sometimes stop for no reason to sniff his spear and waiting for hours on end to get to the end of a 3-foot area of land. BO-RING.

The bottom line is, WW just isn't as fun as it should be. Next time, Nintendo should get the hint and go back to OoT style. If they don't, there's one less Zelda fan.

very fun game

at first, because of the graphics only ( i still cant get over this ) I DIDNT EVEN WANT TO RENT IT!! This game taught me to go for strictly GAMEplay in a GAME. if you think its bad because og the graphics (which are better than smash brothers meelee its cel shading) and its probably cartoony because the first zelda show was a cartoon (see the progress?) this game has excelling gameplay and it is a good length.

THIS GAME IS GREAT!

Honestly, I loved this game. I have played three Zelda Games: Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and now this. Although Ocarina of Time was longer, Wind Waker had more quality, and I name this game my favorite chapter of the Zelda story. You play as some random boy that lives in a time long after Link has disappeared. Ganon has risen again and Hyrule has been sealed away by the godesses. You find a boat and sail out to beat temple bosses and overthrow the evil Ganon once more. Beleive me, It sounds simple, but it's not.My favorite part is that at the end you have to find the eight shards of the Triforce of Courage that was scattered across the sea. Beleive me, this game will never get old and it has infinite replay value.

THIS GAME RULES!!!
