I bought the Sims 2 because I am a huge fan of the original Sims. Man, was this a disappointment! I have all the system requirements and it still runs at a snails pace. I would have to get up and do other things while the game loads. It freezes constantly and is not even worth it. I gave up in frustration. Maxis should defiantly put this into consideration while working on The Sims 3. Most people don't have the time to sit and wait for the game to start, and even then, whether it will run smoothly is iffy.
Not much to love

I started with Sim City 4. It came w my computer and I loved it.
So I bought Sims, and I fell in love with it as well. So of course I was happy about the sequel, but it didn't live up.
Maxis made it possible to import people from Sims to Sim City 4, so why couldn't they do that for Sims 2? I realize it's a different platform, but still....
And then there are my precious pets. Totally missing and unavailable in Sims 2. I miss my cats and dogs.
For people buying Sims for the first time, I'd recommend the following: buy Sims original and expansion packs (might be cheap now).
Or, start with Sim City 4. It eats up hours of time.
But for people thinking of moving from Sims to Sims 2, just don't do it. It's not worth what you will give up. Maybe when some of the expansions come out.
But I'm not impressed with the first expansion: University. Only the newly created teenagers can go there. Might contain some much needed objects, but I don't want to spend hours with my teens.
I suspect that Maxis ripped us on this one. At least those of us over the age of 20.
don't buy this please!

this game does not work at all and its a waste. I have all of the requirements and it freezes everytime I try to play it, even worse it froze up my cd drive so I can't open it up anymore. Please do not buy this game all of Maxis' games have thousands of glitches and crash all the time.

This game is awsome, great, and very well put together!I was extreamely exited when the original sims was released! It was a must have game for me, and when I got it was absoulutely amazed by how life like it was. Then after I was much into the game I decided that I would buy the sims bustin out for xbox.To my surprise it was even better then the sims for pc because of the way it looked more life like, you could up closer to the action and the way you worked your way through the game by unloking different objects and places to vist. After my amzement with these to games i decided to try the sims 2.Wow!Was my reaction to the game.It had every thing you could possibly want in a game.It was better than the original sims for pc and the sims bustin out for xbox put together! The sims 2 is even more life like than the sims bustin out on xbox, which I didnt't think was possible. But somehow the makers did it. In the sims 2 the makers managed to make your sims lives be very similar to that of a human being! And instead of having a baby that just gose from kid to adult, the babys in the sims 2 grow like a person, meaning they dont stay adults forever like in the original sims. They become toddlers, teens, and senior citizens! Another good thing about the sims 2 is that you can get closer in on the action and see things from many diffrent angles. Plus the sims in the sims 2 have more interactions and can do more things.Don't get me wrong the sims for pc and the sims on xbox are both great games, but the sims 2 is by far the best!
BEST GAME OF ALL TIME

From what i have gathered so far, as the game has not yet been released, The Sims 2 will be the most amazing game ever made. it takes the awesome idea of "playing God" as you control a family of Sims, and expands on that with things like a DNA, having your sims be aware of their surroundings and more! This game is so relaistic and great! Buy it NOW!
The Sims 2 is awesome!!

This is actually her daughter Kris and I ve been playing it for a long while and i can say i didnt get it off here but i bought it in a store and i thought i would be disappointed by it but actually i was utterly thrilled by it!! Its the greatest sim game that was every created plus i am to believe that the expansion packs of the sims 2 will be even more enjoyable than the sims 2. The sims 2 is even better than the sims; it gets you up close and personal with the sims and the 3D version is alot better as well. The sims 2 is the most greatest simulated game ever made!!
Very Disappointing

Hey all you Sim lovers,
I (along with other Sim lovers) have been waiting for almost a year for the Sims 2 to come out. I bought a copy of it yesterday, and I am very disappointed with the game. It first took an hour and a half to load, as my computer wasn't reading the disk. After I finally downloaded it, I tried playing and it's extremely slow. The graphics are terrible, and after I tried changing the graphics to 'high' the whole game froze. It is also really difficult to move around in the game. It takes forever to load and even longer to make you Sims do anything. I would seriously think twice before buying this game.

I am a huge fan of Maxis/EA. I have been a big fan of the Sims (and the expanision packs) as well as Sim City. Like everyone else I was really excited about the release of sims 2. So I am sad to report that the game has given me terrible problems. I cannot play for more than 10 minutes without it completely crashing my system. When I can play the graphics are choppy at best. I have a system that meets or exceeds all the system requirements, my drivers are up to date and I am not a tech novice. I am hopeful that Maxis will come through with a patch to fix the numerous problems I experienced. To anyone who wants to play the game...wait for the patch or a newer release.
Very disappointing game

I bought this game and could not get it to work. I called EA customer service and they eventually had me return the game at my cost for replacement. I got another game, same problem. I could not get it to install. My computer meets all the requirement and would still not work. I can not recommend this game!!!
