Will Wright has done it again. The Sims 1 was fantastic. The first game of its kind. The Sims 2 is even better. Better graphics, the aging, bigger houses, and the creating sims function, all of the new options for the TS2.
I have taken my family from adulthood to elder. They have had 6 kids from baby to adult. The aging has to be the best part of the this game. Aging was definately lacking in the first one. Another new feature is the days of the week and days off form their careers.
Also, it is easier to build relationships and get people to fall in love and get married.
WARNING, If you don't have at least double the system requirements don't bother w/ the game until you do. You won't be able to play it properly. I have 3 ghz P4, 1 GIG ram, Nivedia GForce 128mb and my game runs perfect. It took 15 min to install, under 3 min to load, and under a minute to switch between the neighborhood and houses. I haven't had a crash yet. You can't expect to use the new games w/out having an up-to-date computer.
I only wish that we had more objects, hair styles, carpeting and wall paper. In a month, though, the users will make more stuff like they did for TS1.
DON'T JUDGE THIS GAME BY THE PREVIOUS REVIEWS. THOSE PEOPLE CAN NOT EXPECT TO RUN A GAME SMOOTHLY ON JUST THE SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS.
HAPPY GAMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
fun game

It's pretty nice, but what I hated from Sims1 is still not fixed in here: the sims walk at a phenomenally slow pace of about 10 feet per game minute. So if you give them a large house, it will take about a whole game hour for a sim to walk from one side to the other, about two game hours if you want to your sim to make a round trip. There are few other dumb things here and there just to make it annoying, but overall really nice game.
Other than that, it's really nice. If you liked Sims 1, and you have the computer that can handle this, then you're going to like this a lot.
From a technical aspect, the game requires a lot of computing power to run it at decent speed. I have a Pentium 4 2.8GHz with 1GB RAM and nVidia GeForce 6800GT 256MB, it runs pretty smooth for the most part in medium detail, but it's somewhat slow and annoying when in the highest detail mode.
SIMply enjoyable

When you play The Sims 2, you have a choice to either play in story mode or play as you wish. The PC version of Sims 2 is a relaxing and enjoyable family game to play, especially since you are able to input your own music into the game. I strongly recommend inputting your music into the game because the music that comes with the game is silly, and the faster your computer, the more features you can take advantage of. Keeping track of and controlling a family of eight is a little bit of a challenge but the spacebar on your computer helps with that task. Your Sims can paint a picture you choose, you can make movies, or you may uncover a hidden architectural talent by creating your own homes. On my computer, at the neighborhood screen while I'm searching for a neighborhood to play, I hear There's a Place For Us from West Side Story or Lee Greenwood's God Bless the USA or Judy Garland's Somewhere Over the Rainbow. It almost brought a tear to my eye when my Sim was cuddling her newborn and this song by Josh Groban started playing: You raise me up so I can stand on mountains. You raise me up to walk on stormy seas,. I am strong when I am on your shoulders. You raise me up more than I can be. It's very funny to see your Sims dancing to the tune of Thriller by M. Jackson. During the wedding ceremony, you can hear Let It Be Me by Betty Everett & Jerry Butler (on my computer anyway). I have so many video games from Christmas but after a hard day at work, I come home to relax, and playing The Sims 2 makes you actually feel good. Thank you EA Games for producing a game that doesn't involve a lot of violence (see enough of that in the newspapers). Here's a suggestion: our human children could learn a language if EA Games would have the Sims speaking different languages. They say the best way to learn a language is to go to that country. Well, EA Games could create that atmosphere by having neighborhoods in different countries (real countries not Sim countries) with the Sims speaking the language of that country.
Computer Requirements are a joke!!!

This game is just a ploy to get all the kids that have been playing all the other Sims games to shell out $50 bucks of their (or their parents) hard earned money, only to find out, that in most cases, the game won't run on their computer. Shame on Electronic Arts for allowing this game to be released with these restrictions. From what I have read, it is not that great that I would dish out another $400 to upgrade to a better computer.
best game ever

As a sim fan since the beginning, I have lived through much of the hype for the expansion packs. When thesims2 first hit discussion, it was around the release of livin large in the offical Thesims.com BBS and I have been intrigued ever since, waiting on my hands for a offical annoucemant on if TheSims2.0 would ever reach fruitation.
It is safe to say that this will continue the noble and porfitable franchise. I gave it four stars though because from what we have seen and learned, it is a awsome game, but sadly it requires a more powerfull computer to run due to the complex 3d nature of the game meaning sadly some will not be able to play the game without upgrading or buying a new computer.
To those who want to know for sure if your computer can run the game, I recommend going to www.Thesims2.com and clicking the game section and look for the system requirements.
Even though the game's release was pushed back owing to the fact that maxis was not finished with it, and wanted to polish it to perfection before it is released, it is still a game that is worth getting, even if you are a sim fanatic, or your interest in the concept of running peoples lives. You can be both the Bossy controlier, to just a spectator in the whacky lifes of computer coding.
Totally Addictive!!

I bought the first Sims and loved it so when the Sims 2 came out I just had to give it a try. And you guessed it I loved it. I love the family and neighborhood interactions. The graphics are great. Being able to create your own community lots has really increased the game play. If you enjoy role-playing then this is the game for you. But beware hours and days can fly by and you will not realize because it is totally addictive.
Best game ever!

I always passed this game by thinking how dull this would be. Lo and behold a dirt cheap price and I said heck why not give it a whirl? If I don't like it I can give it away.
WARNING!! WARNING!! THIS GAME WILL EAT UP A GOOD NITES'S SLEEP AND ANY FREE TIME YOU ONCE HAD!!
This game is like a crack addiction for your PC!
The first day (or two) I was up until 3AM on a week night!!! This game will give black coffee a run for it's money!
TOO SLOW!!!

This is unplayable. EVERYTHING takes far too long. Saving, loading whatever you try to do takes many seconds and in some cases minutes. This is running on a 3 Ghz P4!
